Favorite Movie Villains - 08/12/07 03:03 AM

My top 3 in order are:

1) David Carradine as Bill in KILL BILL

2) Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill 'The Butcher' Cutting in GANGS OF NEW YORK

3) Gary Oldman as Drexl Spivey in TRUE ROMANCE

I agree. As much as I respect Heath, I think Jack is a better Joker, but only time will tell

My all time favorite movie villain is Biff Tannen from the Back to the future trilogy. Escpecially because he plays about ten different characters spanning over time and they are all great!

Re: Favorite Movie Villains - 08/12/07 08:22 PM

What ever happened to Thomas F. Wilson? He never had a career after that trilogy.

svsg got it right - Nurse Ratched. I never hated any movie character as much as I did her. When Jack Nicholson started choking her I actually stood up and cheered!

I can understand that but there hasn't been a movie villain that you admired so much you wish you were him/her? What I love about David Carradine in KILL BILL so much is, he's a cold hearted b*stard (he even tells us so). Yet he's so cool and so feared, I wish I was him, even though I don't agree with any of his actions/decisions. That to me is some of the formula for the perfect villain, when the audience knows right from wrong but still emulates the character.

Well my favorite villian and fave movie character in general has always been.

So many great villians. I agree with SC on Nurse Ratched. What a chilling/evil/scary bitch she was.

Another of my favorites, Robert DeNiro as Max Cady in Cape Fear. \:o

Darth Vader.

Re: Favorite Movie Villains - 08/13/07 02:11 AM

Excellent movie. Both the original with Robert Mitchium and the remake with DeNiro.

But DeNiro's Max Cady was much more scary.

I seen commercials for it on AMC. I'll have to watch it next time it comes on.

Don't watch it on AMC. They kill the movie. Watch it un-edited.

Yes, I did DC. The movie and performances were very good, but this is a rare exception (for me anyway), where I like the remake better than the original. You????

DC,

I know of the movie, but have never seen it. Is Mitchum the villan?

Speaking of renting movies, I find I don't rent very much either. I use to rent movies every weekend. \:o Remember when video stores were new??? I remember lines forming when a new movie was released on video. It was a first come, first serve. Doesn't seem that long ago does it?

I think I've rented maybe two movies in a year (the "24" series and last week The Bourne Supremecy"), but that's it.

SB,

Are you thinking of "Wait Until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn? I think The Night Of The Hunter was made in the late 50's or so.

Both were excellent films, and both Mitchum and Robert De Niro portrayed Cady very well. But De Niro's Cady was a virtually unstoppable and vicious psychopath.

Other favorite villains:

Hannibal Lecter
Dennis Hopper's character in Blue Velvet
Francis Dolarhyde from the movie Manhunter
Jason Voorhees
Jame Gumb
Scorpio from Dirty Harry
Little Bill from Unforgiven
Harry Powell from Night of the Hunter

I'll think of more soon...

Oh...lol. Forgot about that. Hopkins was just as deserving. Silence of the Lambs is excellent, and at least in 1991 the Oscars weren't so damn rigged. IMO Crash didn't deserve 2004 Best Picture.

I think Dr Evil is of the MOST EVIL FILM VILLAINS EVER!

Really, he's not like Saruman in LOTR, The Emperor in Star Wars or Blofeld in You Only Live Twice!

The guy is PURE EVIL...

"We may not be dead, but we are always buried."

Very bleak movie. Great, great acting though.

I think Monsey could have had a second career, writing for Hallmark.
