Twilight Zone - 07/03/07 12:03 AM

I know I bother people with this every 4th of July and New Year's (sorry!), but I also know there are some fans, and I just wanted to remind whoever is interested that SciFi is airing a marathon of TZ for the holiday.

It looks like the episodes will be playing just about all day on both July 3rd and July 4th.
July 3rd Schedule
July 4th Schedule

And here is the episode guide...

Thank you Gina!

New Years and 4th Of July wouldn't be the same without your Twilight Zone reminders! I look forward to them!

Gina, you don't bother people ;\) I was going to post it but thought that would be rude of me.

I already have my day planned for 4th of July around that.

Thats why I didn't do it! I'm a gentleman you know ;\) lol

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/03/07 12:18 AM

And to think I almost didn't post anything! Thanks, guys.

My parents are talking about going to see fireworks, and as fun as I'm sure it would be, I'm worried about missing out on completely fulfilling my Twilight Zone tradition. Is it strange that I avoid fireworks on the 4th of July? \:D

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/03/07 12:25 AM

My town doesn't have fireworks on 4th of July so I wouldn't know lol. Why not TIVO it?

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/03/07 12:48 AM

All I'm capable of are VHS tapes.

I think we actually taped one of the past marathons and have those episodes on VHS somewhere...which annoys my mom, because she thinks the two marathons alone are too much.

I'm trying to convince my friend to watch, who was completely scared off by the Nightmare At 20,000 Feet episode.

Well, it looks like I quit my job tonight/tomorrow.. so this'll definitely help pass the time. \:D Thanks, Gina!

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/03/07 01:45 PM

Thanks, Gina.

I'll be watching late tonight, and try to see as many as I can. I can't remember the name of the episode for "Room for one more, honey."

If anyone is up late on the 4th, the 3 am hour long episode (Miniature) features a young Robert Duvall, and is very interesting.

KL, here you go:
 Quote:
Twenty-Two
Writer: Rod Serling, based on an anecdote in Famous Ghost Stories
Director: Jack Smight

A young woman complains of a recurring nightmare in which she always ends up in Room 22 — the hospital morgue.
CAST: Barbara Nichols, Jonathan Harris, Arline Sax, Fredd Wayne, Norma Connolly, Mary Adams, Wesley Lau, Joe Sargeant, Jay Overholts, Carole Conn.
Unfortunately, I don't see that it's going to be on.

But I got home just in time for some of my favorites! Hope everyone's enjoying the marathon and manages to watch as much as possible. Not another one until New Year's! ;\)

Bogey, "quit your job"? What happened?

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/04/07 02:01 AM

I caught the "Talking Tina" episode with Telly Savalas this afternoon. Definitely a Twilight Zone classic.

"Hi, my name is talking Tina, and I'm going to kill you."

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/04/07 02:03 AM

Talking Tina was a freaky episode.

The other one I thought was weird was the one with the woman driving for miles and the guy constantly following her.

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/04/07 02:09 AM

I missed the Howling Man, but saw Third from the Sun. At 1 am, if I'm still up, I'll watch the Arrival and a few before then.

thanks, Gina, for Twenty-two. I probably would arrange my holiday celebration to see this. Don Cardi sent me a PM with link to a synopsis of each episode. Souns like you have it too.

I'm such a damn mark for TWILIGHT ZONE, its not funny.

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/04/07 04:57 AM

KL, I meant to include the guide, so I added the link in my original post but forgot to mention it. It reminds me of a lot I wish were also airing for the holiday. Maybe we should request a three-day marathon?? \:\)

I was determined to find when Twenty-Two would next be on, and unless I missed something, it doesn't show until July 24th.

Ronnie, have we seen a special RRA review for Twilight Zone yet? \:D

Now that the Astros are over (Pence saves the day!!), I'll test myself to see how late I can stay up for TZ. The more I watch tonight, the less I'll see tomorrow, because I'll be sleeping late.

SC, hope you caught THE INVADERS - I remember it being one of your favorites.

Good one on now, too: WILL THE REAL MARTIAN PLEASE STAND UP?

I always loved that episode's twist ending.

I loved that episode too. What I found weird was last night they must have had 8 straight hours of things involving "Astronauts" lol

I missed it. You wanna know why?? My cable provider is having a service problem with the SciFi channel. Its the ONLY channel they're having a problem with.

Whats worse is - I work for my cable provider. I knew about this issue as soon as it happened (last night at work)... \:\/

*Enter Rod Serling, cigarette on-hand*

"Here is SC, a member of the Senior Leadership of the Internet Racket that is the Gangsterbb.net. He believes his cable provider, whom he works for, is having a cable service problem with the Sci-Fi Channel....but the problem is that the cable service is having a transmission problem, for their signal is being blocked by the blackout entity that is...THE TWILIGHT ZONE."

*Cue drumroll*

It worked for the final 30 seconds of "The Sopranos".

Space exploration was a common theme in many episodes as was nuclear annihilation or the threat thereof. There is a pretty good episode coming up later tonight with Jack Klugman as an astronaut.

Thats important to remember. The show was originally aired some 45 years ago and the big scientific themes of the time were those about space travel and nuclear war. They may seem a little dated now but the human responses to these themes are ageless and one of the reasons why the show was so successful.

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/05/07 03:34 AM

That's terrible, SC! The irony...that it had to be SciFi that wasn't working.

I remember finding a bunch of Twilight Zone episodes online, free to watch, but I think they've since been removed by YouTube or whoever was hosting them. I wanted to get the "The Invaders" episode for you, so if I find it, I'll let you know.

I did come across something Ronnie might like, as a TZ and Pink Floyd fan:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTwdhpudsSc

Ronnie, don't watch it if you haven't seen the "Time Enough at Last" episode! It's a simple video, but a cool idea to mix the two.

Another favorite of mine, and I missed it today...along with The Masks. \:\/

If anyone's still up - in 3 hours ( 3AM ET ) airs "Miniature" w/ a young Robert Duvall (1963) ;\)

I couldn't stay up, but that one is a favorite. Are there any other Godfather actors, who have appeared in the Twilight Zone? I believe Richard Conte has.

Gina, I caught the tail end of The Masks. I always wondered if they used the same makeup in that episode as they did for the actors in Eye of the Beholder.

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/10/07 04:43 AM

The Twilight Zone, the greatest thing ever to be involved with the SciFi channel. It's weird how well made the show is, being that the episodes are really small plays.

The "Twilight Zone" is the greatest anthology show on tv EVER.

Re: Twilight Zone - 07/10/07 02:31 PM

TWILIGHT ZONE is for the TV sci-fi/fantasy anthology genre like CITIZEN KANE or the Four Horsemen are for Cinema and Wrestling Stables.

In other words, often immitated, never equaled.
