Hardees "Monster Thickburger"

Posted By: J Geoff

Hardees "Monster Thickburger" - 02/05/05 01:54 AM

Wow...

Two one-third-pound slabs of Angus beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered sesame seed bun.

1,420 calories and 107 grams of fat

But looks mighty good !!!

Too bad my heart would probably stop if I ate that. But could be worth it!

Heres the pic:

Bahhh...thats just a double burger with some extras....I bet you a tongue sandwich that I can finish 2 of these in 10 minutes! (but no mayo included of course )

I remember Hardees! I don't think they have them here in CA. I've never seen them anyway, but they were quite popular in Michigan.

What's funny is, I was just taking a bite out of the "Ultimate Burger" from Jack N' The Box. I don't eat fast food a whole lot, but every now and then a thick juicy burger hits the spot. You guys don't have Jack N' The Box or Carls, Jr. do you??

We still got Hardee's around here. I'm not a big fan of it though. But on my trips to California, I found I fell in love with Yellow Basket burgers. Although if you want a bangin'-ass burger, and you're in the southern California area, go to Red Robin's. I don't know if they have em anywhere else, but they got some awesome burgers, awesome nachos, and the best damn strawberry lemonade you'll ever drink. I'm sure some of you Cali natives can attest to that.

I've heard of Carls, Jr, but I've never been too one. I used to love Jack N'The Box. We haven't had them in Baltimore in probably 25 years. I don't think they've been around since before my daughter was before. I loved the Jumbo Jack. Also another favorite that's been long gone is Gino's. They had the Gino Giant. It's funny how all chains have their signature sandwich. I don't touch fast food places now.

Hardees were here until I think about a year ago. I believe Roy Rogers brought out all of them.

I prefer the charbroiled type burgers myself.

Oh and XXX there is a Red Robin not far from me. I've only been a couple times, and yes there burgers are good, but that's mostly what they have. Usually if I go out to eat, I don't get burgers. :p

Oh, and Beth, name the fast food chain had this jingle:

"Hold the pickle, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us..........Have it your way, Have it your way." :p

You bein' a wisegu...err....wisegirl, TIS? :p

Yea, 9 times outta ten when I go out, its to a restaurant with what I consider "real" food. But, as famous as Red Robins is for their burgers, I mainly go just for that strawberry lemonade. I go through about 6 of em before I leave there. Thank God they're virgin drinks. Then again though, I went to T.G.I. Fridays not too long ago, and me and my girlfriend each got a rack of Jack Daniels baby back ribs. Cost us $45. Sometime's, that Yellow Basket burger will hafta suffice

XXX, I have had the Jack Daniels steak at TGI Fridays, and was hesitant at first, but it was surprisingly great!! Yea, the strawberry lemonade is good too, but I am more of a coffee drinker at a restaurant. :p

PS: All this steak/burger talk, I expect is making Angie's mouth water. :p Next thing you know she'll be posting a picture of a nice juicy steak. Right Ang???

Re: Hardees "Monster Thickburger" - 02/05/05 08:47 AM

That sandwich looks gross... look at the glob of mayo!! That's a heart attack waiting to happen, I swear. And I hate bacon. But the bun looks good... i gotta say, I love hamburger buns, they're awesome. As much as I like a serious French or Italian bread, there's nothin' like cheap bread that sticks to the back of your teeth and the roof of your mouth.

TIS and XXX, I've never even heard of Red Robin or Yellow Basket, maybe it's just a Riverside/O.C. thing. As far as So-Cal burgers go, though: I love Carl's Jr., but In 'n' Out is by far the best burger I've ever had that cost under $5. The best one over $5 was at the Cheesecake Factory. Do they have Cheesecake Factory in other states? I know the first one was in Beverly Hills, but there are a whole bunch now... who knows how far the chain goes.

.
.
**EDIT- I just re-read the first post, and it says it's on a buttered bun!? Because the mayo is certainly not enough.

"Let's add some butter in there that no one will taste or notice, just for the extra calories and fat."

"Great idea, Bob. You just earned yourself a promotion!"

That would be Burger King. It's strange I know all this stuff about fast food chains because I rarely eat at them. I gain 10 pounds just opening up the wrapper.

I think the Food and Drug Administration should look into that thing. It could be a national health issue. Just looking at it I could feel my heart slowing down and my colon spasm.

Zia,

Everyone I know chooses In n' Out as the best burgers. I've only had them twice, they are good. One thing about their menu is, it's so small with just hamburger, cheeseburger, fries. Not a huge selection, just the basics.

I've heard of Yellow Basket, but have never been to one before. They aren't in my area.

Oh TIS, your killing me! In n'Out has to be my favorite Burger place when I am in California! It's been a long time simce I was to California, and I wasn't sure if In n' Out was still in business. If I stood in California for two weeks, I would eat In N' Out at least 5 times. What I really loved were those fresh cut French Fries. I never could understand why they didn't expand to the rest of the country.

Any of you New Yorkers out there ever eat at Roll N Roasters?

The place was and from what I understand still is a goldmine! They just opened up another place in Manhatten. So about every other friday we place a huge order with them, I give one of the kids who works for me cab fare and send him to pick up and bring back our lunch order from them.

Yeah, the Brooklyn place is usually mobbed. I know they opened a Staten Island joint some years ago, but didn't know about a Manhattan place.

I love their roast pork sandwiches with duck sauce, and they have great onion rings, but my favorite part is their "fixins" bar (toppings for hamburgers).

Lori is dying to try it, but everytime we go back there we end up at Spumoni Gardens.

They closed the Staten Island place several years ago. Spumoni Gardens, Roll and Roaster, Joe's of Avenue U, John's Deli........I'm gonna sign off and make a trip to Brooklyn! You got my tastebuds rocking!

My favorite burger joint is the White Rose System in Highland Park, NJ. It may not LOOK that great, but they're awesome -- they taste just like White Castles, but full-sized!

(I'm pretty sure they have at least one more location in North Jersey somewhere, I forget where)

Reminds me of Bill Parcells. Years ago my friend used to cook at The Parker House , near Tuna's home, and he would come in all the time and special order deep fried hot dogs. I've always wanted to try it myself, but I better get my cholesterol down first.

Re: Hardees "Monster Thickburger" - 02/06/05 12:33 PM

Elvis was eating them for years.

How can anyone say that looks good? Look at those yellow peices of plastic inbetween the processed bits of meat made from snouts, hides and ears. And then they are prepared by young greasy teenages that don't wash their hands and do all kinds of other stuff that you wouldn't want to know. I know, because I used to be one of them.

Help local business and eat real food.

I swear to freaking god I had about 8 dreams about this fu*king thing last night, none of which involved eating it, so I still can't say how it tastes. I would be just about to eat it when something dumb would happen. It was like the orange in Godfather, it would always be right there when something went wrong. DAMN THIS BURGER!

Doc, I had a dream about this also! I dreamt that they made new movie called The Gangter BB Godfather, and in it there is a scene where Don Malta is leaving a meeting, and he decides to go into this place to buy some burgers and as he is walking back to his car with them, five hitmen come running around the block shooting at him and the bag spills burgers all over the street!

Geoff, it may be time to add a Cheeseburger Instant Graemlin to the board!

I didn't dream about cheeseburgers, but it was coincidental that I was taking a bite out of one when I opened this thread the other day.

Then, just a few minutes ago, my daughter was telling me how she craved a big juicy Cheeseburger at Chilie's. :p

It's funny how one picture of one burger sparks so many replies, let alone dreams.

Part, you're alive!!

It's a good thing that there are so many choices on the menu, because no one can ever argue about going there... it's not like, "No, I don't feel like pizza" or whatever. There's something for every mood, and they're all good. I've tried about 95% of the menu (yeah, I go a lot) but my usual is the avocado eggrolls. OMG they're amazing.

And if you ever go there for breakfast, (I think they only have it on Sundays) they have an amazing "Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Tomato and Onion" Eggs Benedict to DIE for. As if Eggs Benedict isn't divine enough on its own, throw in 4 of the best ingredients in the world!!

Wow, there hasn't been a post about the Hardee's burger for the last page or so... This is becoming a random food whoring thread.

Part - Welcome back! We have a Cheesecake Factory here, too, and the food is pretty good, but NOTHING tops Fuddrucker's for burgers. Sadly, they closed the only one around here, so I have to settle for my own homemade burgers to pig out on.
