Shipped Pizza

Shipped Pizza - 05/20/20 01:53 AM

Was just wondering if anyone has ever had pizza shipped to them? I was thinking of ordering some authentic Chicago deep dish pizza from the place I went to in 2018 (Giordano's). My hesitations are: the pizza is obviously frozen (so not fresh, restaurant quality) and for 2 pizza's it's $75 before tax. Was just wondering if anyone had done anything like this and if so, what there experience was like?

Gino's East does the same thing -- 3 two-pound pies for $89. eek

I don't know if you have an Aldi store by you, but they occasionally sell the same frozen pies from Gino's for $6 a piece. They're okay. Worth $6 apiece, but $30 each?? Nah.

Thanks for the heads up. I do have an Aldi's near me. Never been in it before but maybe I'll see if they have some one of these days.

That's what I'm afraid of. Don't wanna spend $75+ on frozen pizza I can get from the super market. But I have done some research (online and on YouTube) who say these pizza's aren't bad. Of course they're not fresh/restaurant quality, and not being in Chicago, this is as close as I can get.

Good timing, because it's one of the many things that they only carry occasionally (and only for a week). So if you like it, grab more cuz they won't have them for a few months or so..

And I don't know if it's my oven, but I found I had to bake it much longer than the instructions said: so keep an eye on it....

Thanks for the heads up. I saw Wal-Mart and Target had it listed on their website and checked today but they didn't carry it. There are 2 Aldi's close to me: 1 had it and the other didn't. I'm going to try it tomorrow. If I like it, I'll go back up and grab some more. How long do you usually have to bake it? I'm not thawing it so I'll be putting it in for 40-50 minutes that the box suggests.

I seem to remember it taking well over an hour for me, so just keep checking it every 10-15 minutes after the 45 minutes... it was the center that had a harder time heating up

So I tried it today and it was good and like you said, worth the $6. Had I paid the $75+ on it I would have been HIGHLY upset. However, when I went back up to grab more, they were out (and like you said, they don't know when they're going to get more). Being that I'm not in Aldi's, if you see any, let me know please and I'll check the 2 stores by me. Honestly, it was a little more food than I was expecting. I cut it in to 4 slices and could have quit at 2 but wound up eating 3 and saving the 4th (didn't want to force myself to eat it all in one sitting). And I let it go for 55 minutes (probably could have let it go another 5-10 minutes but I didn't want to burn it). After 40 minutes, I continued putting it in for 5 minute increments.
