Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving Dinner - 11/16/18 01:05 AM

What’s everyone having for thanksgiving this year? Anyone make something distinct like a dish they only make or make just every thanksgiving? My sister usually makes mini key lime pies topped with whipped cream and a tiny slice of lime.

Anyone going out? We might go out again this year. Last year we went to Ruby Tuesday.

What about traditions? Anyone do stuff like they just do for thanksgiving.

Home, every year.

Guest count changes almost every year, never a matter. We cook the same items and could feed an Army.

This year the 24lb Turkey with all the fixings and Appetizers to start including baked clams and shrimp cocktail will be for four people.

Football all day and prize pool for the turkey shoot contest of picking the winners and score.

I always say I am going to get extra chairs and go to OTB to bet Horse races, wife always says we don’t need extra chairs, I go place bets, come back without extra chairs and she says “ where are the the extra chairs”? I say “you were right, we did not need them”.

Best Day of the Year, Happy ThanksGiving all.

24 pound Turkey defrosting in fridge for four people however we all take leftovers home and enjoy all week.

Wife and friend will be preparing deserts and sides Wed / Thurs.

We do use the leftover Turkey carcus / meat for a fantastic ounce a year incredible Turkey Soup that goes the distance.
I think I like the Turkey soup best of it all.

Enjoy

It is usually always cold around thanksgiving so we make Roasted Butternut squash soup right before noon, anywhere between 9 and 1130 in the morning. Sausage balls, Fried Ravioli, stuffed Arancini included into the appetizers. As for the Dinner it's self, no we just make the normal foods.

We plan to go out again this year.

We do watch the nfl games every year, despite the ladies wanting something else on. Well ..... I think this year we’ll only have one. Few Previous years I think we took turns channel swapping. Football game went to commercial lady put her channel....that channel went to commercial....football game goes back on.

Several years ago we used to get together with the cousins every year for <=1991 To 2004 with only one year 2003 we couldn’t get together. 2005 and beyond the kids all had retail jobs and we couldn’t make it. But from 2007-2016 grandmother would always get brought down....she was brought down in 2003 too. During 1992-2004 we’d either visit the cousins or they’d come up here (usually if came up here it’d be at our house and not the grandparents)

In 1993 we had gotten a cat 🐈. Grandmother doesn’t like cats very much and was mumbling crazy stuff about it to my grandfather that year (since we had thanksgiving at our house) .....and then after dinner gave the cat the turkey platter and a whole plate full of table scraps.

I always play the ‘cranberry sauce a la Bart’ every year for my mom since she likes that clip.

When my mom made the turkey she always put an 🍊 Orange 🍊 in it. Dad always carved it up.

Yes, we use an old family recipe. Add Mozzarella which is best or provolone cheese.
