Louis Restaurant - Try the veal... - 07/22/18 10:29 PM

I figure this particular thread belongs here, but there is a much more detailed discussion of Louis’ Italian-American Restaurant in the GF Trilogy forum. Anyway…

“Try the veal. It’s the best in the city.”

But – what was the dish? For the curious, it’s best to remember the Chinese proverb: “One who has choice, has troubles.” Here, copied from an actual Louis’ Restaurant menu from 1923 [Edit: Or possibly somewhat later - SV] are a few interesting items – and prices. Veal noted with as asterisk (*).

Adjusting for inflation those are still pretty great prices compared to today.
