i don't really go to "soul food" restaurants.....it's something i can cook at home
i hear uncle remus out west is decent.....it's somewhere on madison
believe it or not mayor daley's joint on 63rd is halfway decent
i'd recommend uncle joe's jerk on 82nd & cottage (they have a few other spots too)

I took my nephew for soul food once. It didn't go over well.
