Yogi's Mexican Night! - 04/04/08 09:39 PM

Come this May my wife and i and some good friends are having a Mexican night to tie in with Cinco de Mayo. Everyone must attend with either a sombrero or a big 'tache.

We are going to have pinatas and firecrackers and all sorts but i must ask a favour?

Does anyone have good Mexican recipes cos we are having the do at our castle and are doing all the food \:o
All recipes gratefully accepted because there are 24 folk descending on the abode!

P.S. Neither me my wife or anyone else invited is Mexican....
It just seemed like a good excuse for a booze-up and eat some good food

i'll take a look for a recipe or two. One that I remember is Hacienda beans, which was pretty easy to make. It involved onions, peppers and baked beans and probably a few other ingredients.

If you're serving refried beans though, you may not want a second dish that's similar. By the way, I made soft tacos for the kids yesterday. They always go over well.

Each year my daughter's girl scout pack has a "Daddy/Daughter Dance" with a special theme, and last year the theme was Mexican. There were plenty of brightly colored sombreros, ponchos and pinatas. They keep the food simple at these events, but I remember the desserts of fried ice cream and cinnamon sticks were big hits with the kids.

We had our Mexican night Saturday gone. Hordes of people came. Much tequila was drunk, many jalapenos were ate.

I was burning at both ends

The pinata was trashed and ended up in next doors garden!

I think some of the guests may have ended up over there as well \:o

It was that sort of night \:\)

I would have thought that Mexican food in the UK was about as popular as dentists and smoke free bars are over there.
