I'm wondering what people find most offensive about The Godfather Returns? Is it the obvious inconsistancies with the original material(Michael no longer attended Dartmouth??) the story, the writing, or something else?

To me, it's the undoing of Puzo's and Coppola's stories that make this a work that MUST be ignored. Kay never got an abortion? Fredo was tricked into betraying Michael as part of an elaborate revenge plot? That goes deeper than filling in the blanks and instead unravels the superior storylines. I hope I'll be able to forget what I've read.

The most offensive thing about the book is that it exists. It was written for the sole purpose of exploiting the Godfather for a few dollars.

What's most offending is that Winegardner is an amatuer compared to Puzo and for him to think he can even continue the legacy of the Godfather is madness....and the way that he did it was so Ludicrus that it makes me sick...His book sucked and he sucks

I don't see any movie studios falling over each other to pick it up.
