They play Manchester United tomorrow and are one win away from winning the league after starting with odds of 5,000-1 British pounds, whether you like soccer or don't, this is a wonderful story and shows sporting dreams can come true! Great article on it today In the NY times!

It is an amazing thing. The latest amazing part is that they're not just hanging on after some sort of hot streak. If anything, they're getting stronger:
Oct. 1: tied 6th, 4 points back
Nov. 1: 3rd, 3 points back
Dec. 1: tied 1st
Jan. 1: tied 1st
Feb. 1: 1st, 3 points up
Mar. 1: 1st, 2 points up
Apr. 1: 1st, 5 points up
May 1: 1st, 7 points up
In the last seven months, they only lost ground one month, and that was just one point.

I think so gets. They get one point for the tie I think. I'm wanting to say whoever was in 2nd was a good 3 or 4 points behind so even if they won I think LC is one point up.
I like how those leagues drop the bottom two and bring up two new teams. What is it they call it?

Crap I didn't see Pete's post above. If they were 7 up, I think at worst the 2nd place team won, I think they would be 4 up now. I think that's right, Pete tell me if I'm wrong.

Relegation. It's actually three clubs that go up and down. One going down this year is Aston Villa, who are one of just seven clubs who have been in the EPL every year since it was founded in 1992. They had a miserable season.

Thanks, Dixie.
I only follow soccer during the World Cup but every can get behind a good underdog story.
The only thing that would come close to this story is if the winless Detroit Lions of 2008, won the Superbowl the following year...I guess.
i read a few stories of people from Leicester laying down bets at the start of the season and hitting BIG....so it's a great story all around.

I would say more like the Jags going undefeated....lol
Thanks Pete on the relegation deal. I'm still learning about soccer in general. I play a good bit of FIFA even though I still hardly know shit about soccer/football.

To wrap up this sequence, they finished the season 10 points ahead of the field. It'll be interesting to see how they do next year when they'll have a heavy European schedule.

Greece winning the European Championships in 2004 should serve as a warning to Leicester.
Their team is in dire straits at the moment.

Following up, it looks like order is being restored: 11 weeks in, the top seven spots are all occupied by the traditional powers from London, Manchester, and Liverpool.

Just to wrap up, the old order was restored with a vengeance: the top seven clubs this season are all the big money clubs, and there's a big gap between 7 and 8. Leicester made it to the Champions League quarter finals, which seems like a pretty good result for them.

It will be the same next season, but any of us can beat the other on a given day..The rest of the European leagues only have one or two teams who fight over the title but the premier league can have five or six.
