British Open 2014 - 07/19/14 11:15 AM

Rory McIlroy is gonna run away with this thing. I'm curious to see how the Brits receive an Open winner from Northern Ireland. I'm betting they'll be happy about it. After all, this isn't soccer. Or the Church whistle.

Northern Ireland is part of GB so we more than happy to see one of "our own" win it PB.

Helluva golf player he is as well!!

I know, Yogi. I was just playing around.

Looks like he may be in a little trouble, though. Two straight bogies. He's heading into the back nine right now. But I'll be shocked if he blows it. He still has a four shot lead, and Sergio is a choke artist himself.

Who? Oh, yeah, lasts year's Player of the Year. He's recovering from back surgery. A few more tournaments and he'll be back in shape.

Rory is quite a talent when he's not swapping girlfriends.....much like Tiger. These boys can't seem to control their putters. lol

Tom Watson has an interesting dilemma as if he were to choose his three Ryder Cup captains picks today would he take Woods and Phil Michelson?
Neither are in the top ten and it looks like Woods wont even qualify for the Fed Ex Cup unless he wins Firestone, the PGA, etc.
So would Watson take him if he didn't even play in the final four weeks of the season?
There will be enormous pressure put on him by the TV networks, the UK and the people of Scotland to have Tiger (and Phil) on the team.
Gun to my head (today) I'd take both these guys. Should be interesting to see how this plays out in the next few weeks.

He has to take at least one of them for all of the reasons you just stated. He'll probably take both.

Probably correct. That being said, you really can't count him out completely. Because he's defied the odds too many times before.

Most likely wrong, but you never know. Nicklaus won his last major at 46 years old. Five years ago at age 59, Tom Watson almost won the British Open. Don't forget, Tiger won 5 tournaments last year and was voted Player of the Year by his colleagues. He's got too much talent to count him out. If his body holds up, he should get one or more.

Don't get me wrong i'd love him to win another major, but he's now in a era with alot of very good golfers and it's getting hard for him, plus the injuries don't help..

Funny, but I don't think young Rory would have as many pretty, young ladies in tow if he wasn't such a successful golfer!!
