IT HAS BEGUN! GO TO ESPN, Fantasy/Games.

2013 College Bowl Mania

http://games.espn.go.com/college-bowl-mania/en/frontpage

Group: Gangster BB
Passw: Corleone

Create a team using the CONFIDENCE option to join this group.

IF YOU CREATE MORE THAN ONE ENTRY YOU MUST DESIGNATE THE ONE THAT WILL COUNT IN THIS GROUP, otherwise your lowest-scoring entry will count.

First pick the winner of each game, then rank the games in the order of your confidence in those picks. The higher the number you assign to a particular bowl game, the more confident you are that you have selected the correct team to win.

This game has already started, so if you want to get in, get in quick -- not too many points have been lost yet. Or if you've already started on your own, feel free to join the group as it's Unlocked for now.

2012 Standings: JL, KL, JG, CG, JS, MC, BM, YO

Pick the Over and the Underdog. During Bowl season those two almost ALWAYS Cover!
Posted By: dontomasso

Re: 2013 College Bowl Mania - ESPN - 12/19/13 05:59 PM

The underdogs usually win the bowl games. With the BCS, most of the 8,000 bowl games, or whatever it is these days are only watched by total sports nuts and the alums of the resoective schools. Now that they change the names of the sponsors to these boowls every five minutes, they are more obscure than ever. I say lets go to a 16 team playoff and use the "major" bowls as venues. That ould be:
1. Rose
2. Sugar.
3. Orange.
4. Cottton.
5. Fiesta.
6. Outback.
7. Citrus.
8. Gator.
9. Peach.
10. One Other Bowl in someplace like Charlotte.

They could play the sixteen in eight of them. use the other two and two others on the list for the final four,
then select someplace for the National Championship game.

All other bowls should be abolished.

Re: 2013 College Bowl Mania - ESPN - 12/19/13 10:26 PM

I agree with you in spirit, but I was wondering if a certain team wins their match up in one of these bowl games, do they get paid to play in another bowl game after? Seems like your top school would rake up the money playing in 3 potential bowl games?

Or do they just do away with paying the teams in these bowls?

I'm all for a playoff but you would have to consider who gets home field advantage also like in the Division 2 college scenarios.

Make your picks under the confidence mode of play. I did and joined the Gangster BB group, which had an icon near my team name. If you played in the college football weekly game, I think you will have the Gangster BB link where it asks you if you want to join a group.

Anyway, fill out your picks before the 21st, and you can then join the group later.

What's the strategy this year Yogi? Uniform color? Mascots with bird names? Latitude / Longitude? confused

The "Coal Bowl" or the Anthracite Classic. Sounds good to me. The winner gets a pizza at Sabatini's.

Sorry I fumbled on this one - hectic week! But I'm in, and, I unlocked the group so others can join. As of now, late-comers like myself just missed the first 4 games....

A very detailed approach this year. I got my 7 year old son, young Matty, to do the confidence picks. He had great fun.

So if by some miracle I do win, you gentlemen can rest easy in the knowledge you were beaten by a 7 year old limey..... lol

The Chik-Fil-A has become a pretty big bowl in Atlanta with a ton of cash to boot.

Re: College Bowl Mania 2013 - 01/02/14 03:41 PM

Nebraska and Michigan State pulled off nice wins for the Big 10 while Iowa and Wisconsin played well. MSU may end up ranked #3 in the country and its only loss came at the hands of the Fighting Irish.

Texas A & M needed a huge comeback to nip Duke, but I don't see johnny Manziel pulling off those big plays in the NFL. He is comparable to Doug Flutie, but Flutie was far more mature at the same point in his career.

I don't know. Reports I've heard say Johnny wears a size 15 shoe--BIG hands. And his dad is about 6'4, supposedly had a growth spurt later in life.

Re: College Bowl Mania 2013 - 01/02/14 04:02 PM

Not sure what Flutie's shoe size is, but he also has very large hands, which helped him throw the ball.

Manziel may have a million dollar arm, but it's connected to a body that has a ten cent head.

Manziel will be all or nothing in the NFL. Either he becomes a Pro-Bowler, or will be a complete bust. He's gonna have to get used to playing on a bad team, with more than likely a bad offensive line too. He was lucky up until now to have two offensive tackles that are going to be 1st round draft picks this year.

Re: College Bowl Mania 2013 - 01/04/14 04:26 PM

Why is the NFL such a graveyard for so many college QBs? We need look no further for proof of that than Tim Tebow. I forget if there was much expected of Brady and Manning. I know that there wasn't all that much of Big Ben.

Manziel will join the Tebow, Quinn, and McCoy ranks.

Nothing was expected from Brady or Tebow. Brady was a late round pick, and Tebow was expected to go in the late rounds too until the Broncos decided to waste a 1st round pick on him. Most people knew he didn't have an NFL arm. Everyone was obviously wrong about Brady. Manziel has all the physical tools, but like others have mentioned, he has a 10 cent brain.

MaryCas is winning.

The above sentence has probably been uttered fewer times than "Put a thick spread of limburger cheese on my liverwurst sandwich, and crank up the Michael Bolton on the eight-track."

Good luck tonight, my friend.

Biggest Heisman Flops

Kly, I will try my hardest to watch a game tonight. As I said in the beginning, I did not select confidence points. I kept them where they were. I didn't see the point lol.
