Violence and Sportsmanship - 05/09/13 05:19 PM

Recently a soccer referee died from being punched in the head by a 17 year old player who took offense to being given a yellow card. The player is looking at 10 years in jail.

Four years ago a football referee was blind sided in the face with a football helmet that was swung by a disgruntled teen. The ref suffers migraines, a crooked nose and loss of hearing.

These are not isolated events. It is a world-wide epidemic. Where has sportsmanship gone? Coaches, parents are part of problem, as well as the decaying state of respect. When and how will it end?

What the hell is happening to the NFL? Arrests for murder and attempted murder? Arrests for beating up wives and girlfriends? Why the hell is the NFL letting these pieces of crap into the NFL?

A lot of sports worldwide affected by lack of class and discipline away from the game. Indicative of how society is going perhaps?? I don't know, but it grates on you that these people get bucketloads of money to play the game they love, get hero worshipped by thousands and generally act like animals!!

Well, there is no way to tell if someone is going to become a murderer. Aaron Hernandez despite some issues in his past had a clean record. Who'd predict he'd become an 'alleged' executioner.

"Hernandez "drove the victim to the remote spot, and then he orchestrated his execution," a prosecutor said in a Massachusetts courtroom Wednesday.
"He orchestrated the crime from the beginning and took steps to conceal and destroy evidence," the prosecutor said.

here's a very shameful example from the sweet science. this fight card was a friday night fights card to raise money for the 9-11 survivors. the man who committed the assault, james "the harlem hammer" butler, was later convicted of the murder of sam kellerman, the brother of longtime boxing personality/commentator max kellerman. butler killed him with a hammer, and then set his apartment on fire, even more troubling when it was sam who had opened up his home to try and help james get back on track after a short stint in prison for the assault below.

That's the joke, because my girlfriend said the same thing when we were talking about the Hernandez thing. I wouldn't say I knew him well or any of that, but the guy that Hernandez is accused of having killed played semi pro football and the team he played for has played against the team my uncle owns quite a few times, so I've met the guy, and when I told her about that she said "thats the type of shit you'd expect to hear from the Bengals", which was even funnier to me because she is a Bengals fan.

The league has already scrubbed Hernandez's stats off their website, and anything the Patriots can do to make anyone forget they were ever a part of this, they’re going to do.
