Big Blue 2012-13 - 08/20/12 09:55 PM

I think us Big Blue, G Men, New York Football Giant, fans should have a new thread. The old one was "The Big Blue Thread" and had 819 posts. Let's start fresh. Let's not rest on the laurels of a Super Bowl Championship. Repeat is hard to do in the NFL.'

I've been a Giant fan since about 1957-58. Frank Gifford was my hero. He could do it all; run, pass, catch and kick if he had to. Charlie Connerly was the QB. The Giants had a long stretch of sucking; mid 60's (Allie Sherman coach, up until Parcells took over and mid 80s saw a resurgence led by LT and Phil Simms.

The Giants can go 2-14 as long as those two are the Cowgirls.

I agree, been a fan since '88, Im a youngin'... I see us going 10-6 prolly bumped in first round, Ahmad Bradshaw already hurt.! And D.Ware gettin the reps in practice, I guess D.Wislon is not ready yet for the reigns.... Who knows... I just hope we smash on the Girls awell, hate them the most....

Coughlin was mostly pissed at Weatherford (punter) for posting the video.

Coach Coughlin always appears to be pissed, just his demeanour of course!

Yeah he shouldn't of posted that. I was kind of surprised by the fall out from this, you would think much worse stuff goes on behind closed doors. Iv'e played a lot of sports and these kind of things all ways go on, I remember the big thing on our school tours was shaving off people's eyebrows.

bodily waste? like ear wax and boogers confused lol

Nicky,

The media is all over anything that they can make a story about. Like you said, this stuff probably goes on all the time, with every team......just like Prince Harry getting caught frolicking with some babes.

Sports media, especially ESPN, think they are the story, not the atheletes.

Back to the Giants. Left Tackle is a concern now. First string Beatty is out, 2nd string Locklear was a right tackle, he will have to switch over. Getting ready to run Eli!

So true about the media, it makes me sick, they blow everything up, but it was ok when so and so was tied up side down to a goal post with his hair shaved and shaving cream all over it was cool then wasnt it...

But the Left Tackle is a BIG issue for us now, what the hell are we gonna do, Beatty was hurt last yr aswell, and moving Locklear isnt gonna helpus for to long we are gonna have to sign a vet OLINE man quick.. We will see tonight as we get the first dress rehearsel when we play the Bears.....

Re: Big Blue 2012-13 - 09/06/12 12:32 PM

Very disappointing start; lose to the Cowgirls at home, opening game.

I'll credit the Cowgirls. They did look pretty good. The G-men looked flat. And as I've said for many years. KEVIN GILBRIDE SUCKS! Wow, that offense was offensive. Nice running game. The O-Line looked lost. Unforgivable to have Michael Boleys interception put them 3 yards from a TD and they went backwards for 2 plays.

This could be a long season. More injuries in the D backs. Not good.

I met Kevin Gilbride at Animal Kingdom Lodge in Disney in January, 2002. At the time he was working for a company that was training a large number of college players getting reeady for the upcoming draft. My brother-in-law recognized him passing us in the lobby one night (How does anyone recognize Kevin gilbride in a crowd?), and the following day we saw him poolside, charting offensive drills.

My brother-in-law spoke with him and came back to me telling me that Gilbride wanted to meet me. I wondered why the hell anyone would want to meet me, but my brother-in-law had mentioned to him that I knew Mike Munchak from my home town, and Gilbride spoke more glowingly of him than I had ever heard anyone praise a person before. He described him as the finest player he had ever coached and the finest man he's ever known. He also accurately predicted that he'd be head coaching in the NFL.

Another thing he told me that I hadn't realized was in that epic playoff game where the Bills trailed 35-10 in the third quarter against the Oilers, of whom he was OC at the time, Houston actually had greater time of possession in the second half.

Quite simply, the Giants OL better find a way to block someone , the CB's better start covering people, and Victor Cruz better start concentrating more on football instead of being a celebrity.

Don't hit the panic button yet. I'm not a Giants fan, but they'll finish ahead of the Cowboys in the standings.

The super D-line....D for Dud. They had 2 sacks and one was from Rocky Bernard. Romo was 22 for 29. I'll bet Coughlin gave out an ass-chewing after that game.

Looking forward to the Giants v. Eagles, Sunday night. Game is in Philly. Eagles have won 5 of last 6. Its time for a thumping of the Eagles. Vick has been fairly stinky; lots of turn overs. These are always grudge matches. Being I live in Eagles territory, I need a big win for braggin' rights.
Posted By: NickyScarfo

Re: Big Blue 2012-13 - 09/25/12 04:46 PM

Reckon Giants can get the win here, don't know what's going on with Vick but he's not going to last the season getting hit like he is, he keeps hesitating under pressure instead of just running the football like he's good at. He's already had some big hits on him in the first 3 games. On the other hand loving Eli at the moment!
Anyone know when we will see a little more of David Wilson?, felt sorry for the kid, he has one fumble and hardly a look in since, he's had all this time just to think about his mistake.

I'm still not talking to MaryCas for starting another Giants thread because my six year old "Big Blue Thread" was the most successful thread I ever created (I don't have much, MC whistle).

But I'll say this much: Eli is the best second half qurterback in football right now. Bar none.

I actually had some Sabbatini's three weeks ago when passing through the valley. I'm meeting a friend in Old forge later this month and am not yet decided on Revello's Arcaro and Genell, or ghigarelli's.

When the Skins went ahead with 1:30 left (approx.), my wife voiced her displeasure. I said not to worry; plenty of time for Eli. When they scored on the second play, I got worried....enough time for RGIII. If he stays healthy ..?... He's a polished Michael Vick.

The G's gave up too many rushing yards. That Morris is a beast.

What was Bradshaw's rant about?

On the bright side: Offense was awful. Eli was awful. Defense was awful. Special Teams was beyond awful. ....And the Giants still almost won the game.

I really think the storm affected all areas of their game mentally and physically. Their whole week or preparation was screwed up, and some of the players couldn't even live in their homes. It's rare for the Giants that the whole team plays terrible at one time.

It's one game. And at least "she" isn't a rapist tongue.

At least the Cowboys and Skins lost. The Eagles can still lose tonight. The Giants maintain a stranglehold on the division.

It's regular season losses that separate the men from the boys. So let's hope for the best from here on out smile.

The offense was bad as their best plays were pass interference calls, and I was surprised that the Steelers were able to run all over them. The Giants capitalized on the fumble return, which kept them close. They didn't seem to be the same team and when the Steelers were down by ten, I thought they'd come back because of the Giants' difficulty moving the ball.

I'm ashamed to admit that I almost missed the game because of the 4:30pm start. I started doing some things around the house, my kids were out, and my wife (a die hard Giants fan) was visiting some family. I forgot about the game until I flipped through the channels and saw kickoff time was here.

Don't worry, Giants fans. You'll be fine the rest of the way, especially in the playoffs.

I prefer judgement myself, but WTF, the English language is fading away, anyway. Did you know cursive writing will soon be a lost form of communication? But who cares as long as you are true to Big Blue.

The Giants seem to play up or down to the competition. But being that the Niners and the Pack are the two best NFC teams they've played this year---and they SPANKED them both---I'd say they're still the team to beat in the NFC.

Here's hoping! smile

OH, Big Blue, please don't win next week and back-door your way into the playoffs. Today's loss to the Ravens just exemplified how far you have fallen. The defense is weak. Goodbye Perry Fewell. The players are getting old. Umenyiora, your time is past. Tuck, sorry you're not healthy enough to be a threat. The linebackers, below average. DBs, some bright spots, but too many injuries.
Offense, offensive. Gilbride, you should have been gone years ago. Boring. Eli, not sure who shows up every week. OL, old. RBs, not your fault (Gilbride). Special teams, better this year.

Get rid of Gilbride and Fewell, draft some OLs, DLs, LBs and DBs.

Aaa dont worry im from philly.. Vic had 1 maybe 2 good years and think averaged about 11 gp a year..Tom coughlin learned a lot in his time like how to lighten up onem a little..And they suddenly won 2 SBs..Flaco sucks so bad he was due for a deacent game anyway..If Ny does get in, Gb Sea or Sf wont have any ordinary wildcard team.. And San fran - Sea now great stuff 21-3 Seattle..With 3 quarters to go...

The door for Bradshaw to return isn't closed if he gets healthy and accepts less than the $3M+ he was due.
