2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 08/30/11 09:25 PM

Douche Bigelow: Welcome sports fans as we welcome you live from the GangsterBB Fantasy Football Arena. I'm Douche Bigelow and with me is my co-commissioner, JG.

JG: Thanks DB. I have one question for you. Are you ready for some football??!! Let me repeat that! Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!!

Douche Bigelow: I know I am. This is the ninth year we've had this league on the GBB and as always, this league is by invitation only where the GBB's best of the best of the best will match their wits and skills as they battle towards the GangsterBB Bowl. Our defending champion, Longneck, is ready and willing to defend his GBB Bowl Ring.

JG: To keep everything nice and simple, we'll be using the same scoring system as last year. We'll be back with further details (league settings, scoring, etc...) but all I can say is it's going to be a blast!

Douche Bigelow: Thanks JG. And now a word from our sponsors...

It's been years since a spot has become available but we have one spot that's available. If you're willing to play all year and are available for a 6:30 pm ET live draft tomorrow, please feel free to message me.

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 08/31/11 01:24 PM

Here's the draft order this year.

1.BL
2.NM
3.PP
4.LN
5.JD
6.GO
7.RM
8.DB
9.IM
10.BA
11.DM
12.YO
13.JG
14.JL
15.LI
16.BB

To set the order, I went through the following steps:
1 - I went to http://www.random.org/, my favorite random order generator website wink .

2 - I went to "Interger Generator" to choose a number between "1" - "25".

Below is the result of the randomized integer.

Code:
Here are your random numbers:

24	Timestamp: 2011-08-31 13:19:33 UTC

3 - I went to "List Randomizer" and input our list of owners (list from top to bottom per what I saw under "Managers" in Yahoo.)

4 - This list of owners was randomized 2 times to get to a final list which is our draft order. Below is the final randomized list.

Code:
There were 16 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

1.BL
2.NM
3.PP
4.LN
5.JD
6.GO
7.RM
8.DB
9.IM
10.BA
11.DM

I'd just like to point out that Yahoo thinks I am awesome:

Quote:
The Best Draft of the 2011 season goes to...

Rushin' Champions

Manager: Longneck

The Best Draft is awarded to the team with the most projected season points based on weekly optimal starting lineups.

He was the starting QB for the Bills. AFAIK, he still is.

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 09/03/11 04:55 PM

Started 13 games for the Bills at QB, 58% completions, 3000 yards. 23TDs and 15INTs. Best QB Buffalo has had in awhile, but average is not great. But it's a whole lot better than Travaris Jackson.

Yeah, not happy about my back up either. Maybe this Fitzpatrick guy will work out for me. It scares me though when I look at my lineup and see the % started column and he's at 6% lol

Longneck, nice avatar by the way. Makes me like the Colts just a little bit more. tongue

Cleavage is the most commonly forgotten universal language.

Peyton Manning is looking more and more like he's not going to play week 1, maybe even longer. He has to wait for his nerves to regenerate in his neck...
Posted By: Don Sicilia

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 09/06/11 02:19 PM

Pretty scary thing to recover from. Hopefully, he takes care of it before getting back on the field.
Posted By: Longneck

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 09/06/11 10:53 PM

Yeah, I don't even care about my fantasy team as far as the injury. It's scary and from the old article in May it says he would have skipped the surgery and played through the injury if there wasn't a lockout. And then with the lockout going on he couldn't rehab with his doctors... I really hope it doesn't end his career. I guess he's glad he got a new deal for $40 million guaranteed before the season started.

Also, the neck has been bothering Peyton for about 4-5 years now, through his best years at QB. Last year, that stretch of games where Peyton's accuracy was off and he threw a bunch of INTs? Probably because his throwing arm was numb. My Nurse says a pinched nerve is pretty painful. Any kind of nerve pain really.

I've got the white beard old drunk retired QB (no! not that one!) at the helm for now until Superstar Chad Henne breaks out this year.

I'm hoping that Brad Smith can be my QB playing from a WR slot this year, but I've got to see how much he actually plays before I start him. Chan Gailey is going to use him in the Wildcat despite having Tyler Thigpen behind Fitz.

2 months is optimistic and the Colts would be stupid to try to rush Manning back. I really hope they just put him on IR and let him get to 100% without trying to overdo it and aggravate the injury and end his career because of impatience. This is no fucking joke, it's his neck. His nerves. Rehab too fast and he could be paralyzed for life. It would not be worth it. Put him on IR and let him get 100% healthy. Next year.

Any time you need a laugh just look at your roster wink

I would like Freeman though, but only for a reasonable price. Since you stole him from me anyways.

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 09/09/11 02:38 PM

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles has faced the Buffalo Bills 3x in his career. Averaged 162 total yds, 7.77 YPC with 2 TDs. He got 2 carries in one of those games.

I always look at JG's roster and think that's pretty ugly, but his players rotate on having huge games and having bad games so sometimes he'll score 6 points and other times he'll score 200.

Basically JG's team is like a box of chocolates.

I like most of my team (Need a better QB now...) but I keep looking for trades. Which gives me the idea of a fantasy football stock market. The shares of the best players cost more, buy and sell each week based on how you think they will do. Maybe it's better to buy more shares of a cheaper player than just a few of a stud, and so on. Sort of similar to Salary Cap Football, but still very different. Yes I am addicted to football. Why do you ask?

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 09/14/11 08:44 PM

I never thought of losing, but now that it's happened, the only thing is to do it right. That's my obligation to all the people who believe in me. We all have to take defeats in life.*

Hey Blibble, if your Harvard Quarterback is so smart how'd he end up playing for the Bills? HA HA!

Hey Blibble, how come you got all those good players. You suck. You sucker. You're like if Al Davis liked talent instead of speed.

(Damn it, Foster will probably be back, Manningham will be the #1 WR with Nicks injured, plus Wallace and Jackson are great. Jimmy Graham won't have to deal with Urlacher...Damn it. )

0-2 is definitely a real possibility after this week. And here I thought Peyton in the 3rd round was a steal. He would be if he played 14-15 games. Wanted Freeman as my backup for insurance but ended up with Henne. Maybe Henne puts it all together this year. Still kicking myself for not taking Matt Ryan instead though. My 3rd WR is out for awhile too. So now I'm starting Jabar Gaffney.

AND I'M STILL GONNA WIN THIS DAMN THING!

1st Round pick Jamaal Charles out for the season with torn ACL.

3rd round pick was Peyton Manning, 96% chance of out for the season.

My 3rd WR Danny Amendola out for 6 weeks.

So it goes for the IR All Stars

Lilo and his Purple Gang seems to like the same players I do!

Someone offer me a trade. I am impatient and instead of keeping my mostly good team even without my 1st and 3rd round picks, I wanna shake it up.

Blibble has 4 of the top 12 scoring WRs right now. Guess someone doesn't get the concept of sharing...

Made you 2, kind of scared you'll accept.

And in other news...

I am in 3 yahoo leagues this year instead of 7 like last year. I am 0-3 in all 3. What the hell kind of season is this? At least I am 3-0 in my 20 team league (haha, bye weeks are great if you managed to draft 2 starting qbs!).

And I started an 8 team league on fleaflicker where you start 3 QBs, 3 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 WR/RB 2 TEs, 3 Kickers, 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 CB. And you get 4 bench spots. I really like that league. Really deep rosters and shallow benches, it rewards the best overall team instead of just best starters. And there's no 2nd guessing who to start. 6 Keepers in that league.

Chad Henne joined in on the injury fun but not before throwing an INT. -2 for the day. 5 players on bye next week.

Maybe I'll just say fuck it and start Curtis Painter so I can draft Andrew Luck next year.

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 10/06/11 04:24 PM

I won by 1 point. Wooo. The 12 or 13 game winning streak starts now!

Peyton Manning, Jamaal Charles, Chad Henne, Danny Amendola are all Out for the season. I've lost a player to injury in every game.

Manning - Out for season (despite what you may hear on ESPN)
Week 1: Amendola - Out for season.
Week 2: Charles - Out for Season.
Week 3: Collins gets concussion.
Week 4: Henne - Out for season.

I can't believe I am starting my 3rd QB in 5 games.

My 3rd QB in 5 weeks is going to be Superstar Curtis Painter! C-PAIN bringing the pain (to Colts fans, most likely). But he did play a lot better than Collins and a lot better than I thought he would.

I just hope he continues to improve and learns to handle pressure better and not fumble. He has a good arm and throws it where only the receiver can get it or no one can. I really think Painter has a legit chance of doing well, as long as the O-Line protects better.

2 injuries to the O-Line on Monday so they reverted to being crap. DT Eric Foster bent his ankle in a very painful looking way and is out for the season just like Defensive captain MLB Gary Brackett, Starting safety Melvin Bullitt, Peyton Manning...

5 players on IR, 10 players on the injury report plus Peyton Manning who they are keeping active solely so he might be able to practice with the team in December, not going to play at all might as well count him as IR. 5 of the injured 10 are on the O-Line which is the weak point of the team already. about 5 or 6 of those 10 are starters and there's already 3-4 starters on IR. Basically the Colts are having worse injury problems than my fantasy team.

The Colts carried 1 Under Tackle and 3 other DTs, Foster is now on IR, Fili Moala and Drake Nevis are both injured. Antonio Johnson is the UT and healthy for now. Might be seeing Jamal Anderson or Tyler Brayton at DT. Jamal Anderson has been playing well for us and even scored a TD against Pittsburgh. He was a first round bust in Atlanta. Drake Nevis is the best DT on the roster I hope he heals up soon because he can provide pass rush in the middle and with Freeney and Mathis on the outside plus pressure in the middle, that's hard to defend. Nevis is also big enough to play against the run.

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 10/07/11 03:16 AM

LN, you should be happy Peyton Manning is hurt and the Colts suck. The Colts will probably get Andrew Luck in the draft and have another franchise QB to take over if Manning can't come back, or is ready to retire.

There are T-shirts made by Niner fans here that say "Suck for Luck" lol. Sad that Niner fans, at least before the season started, wanted the team to tank so they could draft Luck.

Bill Polian has a son on the Stanford coaching staff...

I bet that would piss a lot of people off to go from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck... so I'm all for it.

also too a month or two ago al michales made an statement about the raiders not winning the superbowl till davis is dead.

I wondered why Texans TEs Joel Dreesen and Owen Daniels scored 22 and 15 points while James Casey scored 0 for my team. Turns out he has a torn pectoral muscle.

Joe Addai injured his hamstring after getting me 2 points.

I've never had a team so fucked by injuries.

My Cleveland Defense outscored Indy's D though. (Cleveland was on bye week).

Anyone want Timothy Tebow on their team? I'll trade him for a large pizza or maybe a Grinder.

The worst that could happen is you say no. Or sometimes if you say yes...

So glad Blibble turned down Arian Foster for Chris Johnson last year in like week 3. He thought I was crazy too.

I don't think any of my players got mangled this week but I'm still losing games and I will for the rest of the season because, damn.

Was gonna take Tom Brady or LeSean McCoy with the 4th pick. Figured I could wait and get 14 games from Peyton and Charles had a ridiculous YPC last year (6.4 I think) and was only going to get more carries and seemed like the safer pick injury-wise. But noooooooo.

This week I am benefiting from it but goddamn it, I want to limp to victory over your best shot each week, not destroy a bye week/injury filled team.

Speaking of limps, Earnest Graham is this week's victim in LN'S Injured Player(s) of the Week Contest! Congratulations!

How Bout that Timbo Tebow? It was hard to bench the greatest QB in history since Peyton Manning but in the name of Victory and Fullback Playing Quarterback Who Scores Lots of Fantasy Points Somehow, I chose Tebow.

Quote:
Now THOSE were the Jets I've been looking for all season.

Good solid win over a strong San Diego team today. The Chargers won the first half and enjoyed a halftime lead, but in the second half the Jets D stepped up, shut down the San Diego offense, and intercepted Philip Rivers twice in the 4th quarter to seal the win. (And what the hell was Rivers thinking with the fourth down throw with eleven second left? Game's over if he throws it out of bounds. So he throws it out of bounds. Hokay. Rivers has a great arm, but sometimes you have to wonder about his head).

Another great game by Darrell Revis, and the Jets O finally got in gear as well. Plax! Plax!! Plax!!!

The projections and "fantasy experts" are a joke. I could give you advice for $9.99 a minute, but that's a friend price, because really, my advice is priceless.

And I'll update the median things and tally up everyone's W-L vs the median (which should be interesting to see how it matches up against the real W-L records at least) as soon as I can get on my wife's computer with excel.

Shit happens when you average 1 starting player on IR a week along with the ones who just get injured for a game or 2... I've got last year's championship to console me though.

TEAMS VS MEDIAN:

WINS-LOSSES-TIES

Kind of how your team would do vs. an average team each week in the W-L column and the other one is how you compare to the median each week all added up together.

Who is "The Canes"? Also "Satan's Soldier's" who I faced two weeks ago? Both teams have no replacements for one of their players on bye.

I'll take an easy victory, but it doesn't seem right to the rest of the league who is putting in the effort to have a full roster each week.

This has always been a good league, but some people don't seem to be trying to win this year, or at least giving it their all even if their record looks bad. Fight to the finish people.

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 10/31/11 05:04 AM

"The Canes" is my 15-y.o. nephew tongue Six (really 8) of his players were on Bye this week, and he apparently didn't have any RB's available. It's his first year in this league, but he does take it seriously. He's a sports nut! But sometimes you have to suck one up when your projected stats are 50+ points back, so why drop 1 good player on Bye for some shitty player who won't get 50+ points. wink

Satans Soldiers, on the other hand, is an inexcusable DNP. ohwell

It's also inexcusable that my TE was a "surprise inactive" that I couldn't replace at the last minute. rolleyes

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 11/03/11 03:53 AM

Just in case anyone didn't see the commissioner's note, here it is.

"(Warning: The message below is more heavy-handed than usual.)

Eight weeks into this, I've formed an opinion on having 16 teams this year and without doubt, it stinks. The waiver wire stinks, the quality of teams stinks, everything stinks. There aren't very many moves to make because there just aren't many options. We will not be going to 16 teams again. I asked people to bow out earlier this year if they weren't going to play the entire year, no matter where they were in the standings. I understand if it's a one-time occurrence, but I see some who are habitual missers. I haven't received any notes why some are failing to manage their teams so I can only conclude that they don't care. They will not be invited back.

Thank you."

clap

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 11/03/11 04:47 AM

I don't think it's the #16 (altho that is quite a bit, I admit)... I think it's the lack of management in just a couple of those teams. For whatever reason -- sometimes real life gets involved. It's unfortunate, but happens. (And no, I certainly hope I'm not one of them lol). Nor is our newest member (my nephew) who's doing better than I am.

DNP's are no good here, I agree.

I like the bench size, in fact there used to be a few IR spots for people that were injured and I liked that because then I could have even more players on my roster. I filled it up all the time, like having a waiting list of players too. Probably why we don't have it anymore.

Heyward-Bey in the last 4 games: 15,22,14,13. Today: 0.

Salas was great with his 12 points and then he got carted off the field. Sigh.

Faulk was ruled out after the Noon games started so I had to use Starks instead of Gaffney.

At least I had a respectable week. Not a chance in hell of winning though.

I WAS pretty close to beating the #1 team, but it'd take a miracle tomorrow. In any event, the bench is your lifeblood and what makes your team a winner or a loser after the draft.

If we had smaller number of bench positions there would be much higher number of free agents. So folks would be able to get better players. Also there would be a premium on knowing which players to play for a given game. This would be magnified with fewer teams of course but all in all I think it would make things more competitive. Right now if a person doesn't schedule their players they can have a huge impact on other teams because of the long benches. Give it up or turn it loose I say. lol

I'd rather lose a starting WR slot than a bench spot. Some genius, I can't remember who... whistle suggested that before the season.

Rushin Mafia players on IR as of Week 9:
Peyton Manning
Jamaal Charles
Danny Amendola
Kerry Collins
Chad Henne
Earnest Graham
Greg Salas

7! Plus people who just get injured for a game or 4... And every one of those players was the starter at the time of their injury except Kerry Collins.

And I still outscored most of you punks.

And if Maclin has a 40 point day maybe I can squeak out a win against The Commish.

Starks got the points I'd need to win on the bench. Shiancoe needs 1 more point to tie. I don't think he's going to get it. God damn it.

He speaks!

I just got tired of winning all those games, so I figured I'd give some other people a chance this year. Even you!

I'm assuming there's a good explanation for it, since he hasn't been active in any game this week -- so I hope everything's okay on his side of the pond!

I'm ok Geoff....just one of those things. This has been a crap game this year for me but it would be nice to win a game.......

I'm really getting tired of this...

Any sane person would've started Eli (13) at home vs deflated Vick-less Philly, over Romo (32) on the road vs Washington. And my opponent gets 40 from Stafford???!!

I give up.

I finally won a game. I have had some problems this year on this but i never, ever give up, keep battling and i got myself a win, believe it or not thanks to Rex Grossman of all people. Ha ha ha!!

Quite pleased with myself!

I could have sworn I benched Maclin but I am on my phone so who knows. Should be able to eek out a win provided a quiet day from Mark Ingram.

Shit... just one more week of the regular season after this one? With only 6/16 teams advancing? Two byes instead of 8 teams? Guess I won't get back to .500 ohwell

IF we do 16 teams again (might not!), I think at least half should get through instead of having 2 teams on bye. At least let's have ppl play and enjoy the game -- ya never know what could happen!

This ain't the NBA. 6 is the right number. 12 of 32 teams make it in the NFL.

Half should never make it in. Makes The middling teams have to compete to get in.

Kevin Smith was my injury special this week. At least he got 8 points first.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the last week before the playoffs right? And it looks like there are five teams who must win this week for a chance to make the final two spots (four have clinched).

For such a bad league, as far as the two extra teams watering it down, this is a pretty exciting week to see who gets those two playoff spots.

Regular Season Standings

PP and Aaron Rodgers stole the show, only losing to RM in Week 2 by just 8 points. (And he only beat me by 10 pts)

I didn't even realize BAM was #2 eek

2009 Champion Goombah had enough points to place #4, and his points-against were fewer than #3's BL, but so it goes with head-to-head.

As I said, I feel like I won by beating DB, JL, and #3 BL -- but none of those hurt them in the end.

Anyway, it was fun as always. Good luck to the Top 6 in the playoffs!

Re: 2011 Yahoo! Fantasy Football - 12/08/11 12:23 AM

What a shitty season. 1588 points scored against me is bad (#3) but damn, Satan's Soldiers had 1721 scored against them. Lou was 2nd with 1603.

Imagine going against an average of 132 per week. Only the #1 team could beat that average with about 138.

We have the same record but you ended up scoring more points than me for the season. You have a bye the first week of the playoffs.

As JG said, that's how it goes in Head-to-Head leagues. You wouldn't be saying it's a shitty season if you were in first.

Semantics. I'd explain more obvious things but I don't think it'd matter. I was rooting for ya blibby. Ryan Fitzpatrick is great the first 6-8 games then comes crashing down to earth. Forget that before next years draft.

I added some guy I Hurd was a major player in Chicago. He'd really have to blow me away to crack the starting lineup though, those positions are pretty much locked up. Soon as I Hurd I got on my phone and went to the waiver wire and a couple taps later I got him. His stats don't look like much but everyone is buzzing about how good he is on grass and even snow.

By the way, since this was such a bad season, as everyone has pointed out, do you get an asterisk next to your championship for winning during an uneven schedule year? tongue
