Yogi, this is your first time playing in the baseball league right?

Excellent...

I'd rather do the draft a little later in the evening but if that's the time and date that everyone likes, I can make it work too. wink

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/19/09 03:45 PM

I should be able to make it work as well. Lucky for me the economy sucks, so my boss has no problem cutting back hours.

I officially got the time off of work, so please don't change the time and date!

I'm glad to see GB (King Justice) is playing again this year. He had a good team and made smart trades last season.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/21/09 02:37 AM

Just be prepared to make trades in this league. Or at least have trades proposed to you. This is a very active daily league. And as TM said last year, people who quit before the end of the season, no matter how bad they are doing, will be shot tongue

Also, I know BAM mentioned he wanted to play. Before the season starts someone needs to explain the pitching rule to the new guys.

Have you registered Lou? Who else is missing?

So far it looks like Myself, DB, JG, TM, FC, YO, and GB.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 03:48 PM

I feel like a little kid bugging his parents every year when the Baseball season starts... but here's another question... When do we find out our draft order? I know we've done it ahead of time in the past and it was helpful.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
Posted By: J Geoff

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 05:37 PM

Unless it's overridden by the Commish (I think he can do that), the draft order is determined automatically and randomly about 30 mins ahead of the draft...
Posted By: Blibbleblabble

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 05:46 PM

I know, but in past years we set a predetermined draft order. You made it into a forum game two years ago, and I think SC set it randomly last year. That way we had a day or two ahead to plan our draft.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 09:06 PM

I just hope I'm in the middle somewhere. I hate to be at the top or bottom, where you have to make back to back picks.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 09:21 PM

Why? I like picking 2 quickly rather than the PAINFUL wait of seeing all your first/second/third choices disappear at every single freakin' position! ohwell lol
Posted By: Blibbleblabble

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 09:27 PM

I enjoy picking close together. It's easier to plan out who will be there 20 or so picks from when you just chose and then you get two guys at once. It all works out even though.
Posted By: Just Lou

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 09:30 PM

Good points, but after your picks, you don't pick again for a LONG time.
Posted By: Blibbleblabble

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/29/09 09:31 PM

That's the painful part of picking close together.

I'll make sure to pick A-rod, so I can trade him to JG. wink

And I'm sure DB will get Lincecum and force me into long trade talks.

They played a trial college game at Citi Field today. The final was 6-4. The initial feeling is that it will be a pitchers' park, but only time will tell how the ball travels when the hot weather comes.

Only if you're serious and want to play every day and interact with the other players making trades, etc... If you are I can get the initiation process going. I'll just go to the store and get the plyboard, nails and cheese whiz.

Don't worry, if J Geoff can pass initiation you shouldn't have any trouble.

I just found a bill for the internet that says we are late on making a payment and scheduled for shut off. I just paid it, but AT&T sucks and will probably shut me off anyway. I'll be mad if I get stuck with an auto-drafted team.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/30/09 06:57 PM

I bet DB isn't manually setting the draft order because we had a big problem with it last year, when several people including myself misunderstood it. wink

I prefer 9 teams over 11 or 12. It gives you more of a chance to find good waiver pickups. Although it didn't seem to matter for JL last year. Every chump he grabbed turned into Babe Ruth and Cy Young.

I tried searching for the thread with no luck. You did something where you had people pick numbers and letters and you had them coordinated with the third or fourth letter in the people's names. Something like that.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/30/09 08:59 PM

Here's the draft order this year.

BL
YO
FC
TM
BA
JG
GB
DB
JL

To set the order, I went through the following steps:
1 - I went to http://www.random.org/, my favorite random order generator website wink .

2 - I went to "Interger Generator" to choose a number between "1" - "15".

Below is the result of the randomized integer.

Code:
Random Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers:

12

Timestamp: 2009-03-30 20:49:39 UTC

3 - I went to "List Randomizer" and input our list of owners (list from top to bottom per what I saw under "Managers" in Yahoo.)

4 - This list of owners was randomized 12 times to get to a final list which is our draft order. Below is the final randomized list.

Code:
There were 9 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

BL
YO
FC
TM
BA
JG
GB
DB
JL

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/30/09 09:48 PM

This post is especially for BAM_223 and just to remind everyone again, we have a 162-game Games Started (for pitchers) limit that we self impose. To find out how many games you've started, you'll have to look under the "GS" category under the pitching stats in "Full Standings." I can go into the reasoning for this if you'd like, but just know that we've decided that we didn't like the "innings pitched" limit that Yahoo allows. As teams get closer to 162 games started, I'll remind everyone of this limit and will ask everyone to bench any of their pitchers that may start a game once 162 GS is reached.

BAM, please confirm that you understand this rule.

No points from pitchers that start. You can still garner points for closers and middle relief.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/30/09 10:13 PM

It really depends. If everyone is expeditious in picking, we should be done in 45 minutes.

Please, Please, PLEASE - if any of you have to leave the draft room, please click on auto-pick or exit out of draft altogether. I can't stress this enough. It really sucks having to wait the full time just because someone left his draft room open while not being there. It really slows down everything.

Oh yeah. My autopick of the season: Freakin' Hideki Matsui!! ARGH!! I purposely didn't pick any Yankees -- what're the odds?!?!

Can't be more ridiculous than the trade offer I first proposed to DB last year, for Lincecum.

If DB would have taken Santana as I expected him to, it would have thrown off my entire draft. I may even had taken Lincecum.

In a way I think that might have made my draft a little better. I have a feeling Sabathia is going to have a better year than Lincecum, and I would have taken him with that pick instead but, I'm too much a homer.

I feel like I had a much more solid draft this year. Last year I goofed when I realized I had filled all my other positions but forgot to draft a 3B. This year I'm happy to have solid players at hard to fill positions (Hanley Ramirez, Brian Roberts, Geovany Soto) and I'm hoping for a couple of rebound seasons in Carl Crawford and Aaron Harang. I'm also surprised Vernon wells lasted to the 18th round.

Like JG said though, it definitely helps to have a couple less teams this year. It makes us all feel happy about our drafts before the season starts. Then we can start worrying and try to make trades...

Actually, it's not as crazy as you think. In all Yahoo leagues, A-rod went on average with the 14th pick. Longoria with the 19th. It's not my fault I got him in the 4th round. tongue
Posted By: Blibbleblabble

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/31/09 05:33 AM

I thought about taking A-Rod as well, but I was too nervous to take him with him missing an estimated 6 weeks plus he still is planning on having major surgery at the end of the season, which tells me he might not be playing healthy even when he does play. It could turn out to be a great pick though.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 03/31/09 05:55 AM

I think one of my picks whose going to surprise everyone is Carlos Delgado. Coming back from injury last year, he was batting around .230 with 8 HRs in June. He finished the season at .271 with 38 HR's and 115 RBI's. He also hit .340 in September with 9 HR's and 22 RBI's. He's on the final year of his contract, and right on the borderline of the HOF. He's going to bat cleanup this season and I think he's going to have a huge year.

A-Rod's average draft position may have been a little bit skewed because of all the drafts he was taken #1 or #2 before he had his surgery. wink

Either way though, I think he'll be a steal in the 4th round.

Although I think is my most talented team to start a season, it's tough to gauge since everyone's team is better due to 2 less teams. I noticed some teams that will be interesting due to an unbalanced roster. Some have awesome lineups with little pitching, and vice-versa.

I was noticing that as well. I love having a league with 8-9 teams.

Who do you think has the unbalanced lineups?

At a quick glance FC's looks intriguing with a lot of older studs who might have a year or two left in them but could break down, plus some young up-and-comers who might be awesome or streaky in sophomore slumps.

TM looks stronger than last year after drafting more proven players unlike last year when he had a lineup of potential's.

JL, your lineup will be fun to watch because I think there are a lot of risk's such as Figgins, Delgado, Tulowitzki and Josh Hamilton. I'm not convinced Hamilton will have last years numbers, but... all of those guys could explode for bigger numbers as well. Chris Carpenter can be added to to that list too.

JG and DB have solid lineups with a few wildcards, like Rich Harden for DB. If he can stay healthy then his pitching staff can be scary. The same with John Lackey for JG. DB always manages to end up with a potentially strong bench which scares me because he has lots of trade bait.

Anyway, that's my extremely quick overview of most of the teams. The more I look at my own lineup the more I start to doubt my team. I always feel comfortable with better pitching than I have, so that will be a work in progress. Plus I have a feeling I'm due for a huge injury year...

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 04/01/09 02:02 PM

Great analysis BL.

Here's my quick analysis of everyone's draft (leaving out some of my insights for competitive reasons wink ) :

JL - Arguably has the strongest RP staff of the bunch. Feast or famine with A-Rod pick.

FC - Didn't have to pick a Met at #3 so he should be happy. Pretty strong SP staff from #1 - #6.

BA - Cub-centric draft. Hoping Dempster has a repeat year. Intriguing 3B in Longoria.

BL - Got his man Lincecum. BL is known for his strong pitching and seemingly has another strong pitching staff from #1 - #6. If Fielder has bounce-back year, watch out.

JG - Starting line-up seems to be lacking power, but very speedy (steals count for 2 points). Also has a very strong RP staff.

GB - Had a very good auto-draft in terms of offense. Pitching may be a concern. Not all RP spots filled.

YO - If J-Ro bounces back and Quentin repeats, watch out for Yogi. SP is inexperienced but has potential.

TM - Strong at each offensive position. Injury concern with his SPs. Not all RP spots filled.

I pretty much agree with you. Risks don't bother me since I'll probably turn over half my lineup by the end of the year anyway. 2nd is my worst position every year. 2 years in a row I tried Weeks and he failed. I'm sure Figgins will be an upgrade. I'm not worried about Hamilton unless he falls of the wagon or something. I'm not concerned about Delgado either. He's healthy to start the season for the 1st time in 2 years. He hitting .486 in spring training, with a .620 on base pct. I have Dunn to back him up too. My biggest concerns are Felix Hernandez and Mike Pelfrey. I need one of them to pitch to their potential. ...We'll see what happens.

I have 5 closers. Although none of them at the same level as Papelbon or Rodriguez. But this is the first time I've had anything close to this many closers. I usually get stuck with a rotating door of setup men.

The bad thing about a smaller league is that sleeper picks are basically eliminated from the draft. Not completely of course, but with more teams the depth isn't there so you are forced to pick sleepers. There are a couple I want to pick up off of waivers right now, but it's impossible to tell if they will be better than any player I would drop.

The season hasn't even started and I'm already driving myself crazy thinking too much about the game.

I strongly believe that the keys to this game, as evidenced by BL's and JL's recent wins, are timely pick-ups and strong starting pitching.

I'm still trying to figure out the usefulness of RP's. I believe they are key to winning but not necessarily in the closer role. I think being on top of the game and riding setup pitchers (holds) while they are on a hot streak can help, just as long as you dump them before they slump. It's tricky.

While the top closers are extremely valuable, what are you giving up to draft them? That's the hard part. I'm not sure it's worth it. I have a feeling I will be analyzing that position forever.
Posted By: Just Lou

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 04/04/09 10:26 AM

Great setup men are about equal to mediocre closers. The setup men will give you a steady 3-5 points per appearance. Mediocre closers will give 10 points one day, and -7 the next.

3B Alex Rodriguez was officially put on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, retroactive to March 27, but could be back earlier than initially expected. A report in the New York Post said Rodriguez was progressing so well in his rehab from hip surgery that he could return at the end of April instead of mid-May as had originally been projected. Hitting coach Kevin Long also told the paper Rodriguez was already at "70 percent."

It doesn't really matter because it evens out. As long as you get 162 games played out of each position it doesn't matter if you have whole days off with hardly anyone playing because it's the same for all of us.

StatTracker keeps a daily real-time tracking not only of your players stats but also how those stats translate into points.

You can also see how many points your players have scored for the entire year if you click on "2009 season" under your team's page. It'll be under the "Fan Pts" column.

I'm just trying to read the mind of a fellow competitor here, but why pick up Asbrudal Cabrera? You don't seem to need him. Does it have anything to do with keeping me from picking him up since Hanley is day-to-day? Would you admit it if that were the truth?

Wright used to be one of the toughest 2 strike hitters in baseball. This year he's struck out 27 times in 86 at bats. I've never seen him this lost at the plate. He's fine with nobody on base, but as soon as he gets men in scoring position, he's been striking out almost every time.

As for A-Rod, I'm pretty certain he'll put up typical A-rod type numbers when he comes back next week. Especially in the new Yankee Stadium. I just can't stand the guy. wink

worst case scenarios, I'll be less mad if I draft Wright and he unreasonably gets a dropff than if I trade him for A-Roid and the steroid-taker-pitch-tipping-chokejob-gutless-son-of-abitch has an year off due to injury wink

Hamels has been double-whammied - he's been unlucky and he's been a wuss. He was hurt throughout spring training and had the misfortune of having his opening game at Coors against Colorado. Of course he gets bombed. He had a non-descript game after that (generally bad). He then pitched against Milwaukee and was cruising until he stuck his shoulder in the way of a Prince Fielder line-drive. He's taken out of the game in the 4th inning and his shoulder checked out fine. After that, he pitched against Washington. Again, he was cruising through the first four innings and he was taken out of the game in the 5th (while he was winning) because he hurt his ankle covering first on a grounder. No decision for me because he didn't make it through the 5th.

This season has been very frustrating.

It's official: A-Rod will return on Friday
May 7, 2009

I'm actually off tonight as we get ready to hit the road for a week tomorrow, but the Yankees announced today that Alex Rodriguez would be back in the lineup when they kick off a three-game series against the Orioles in Baltimore.

"Alex will be in Baltimore," Joe Girardi said. "Unless something happens overnight, we expect him to be in (the lineup)."

"It's great having your No. 4 hitter come back. In a sense, it's like we just made a huge trade."

How much of a difference will A-Rod make? Only time will tell. But after watching Cody Ransom, Angel Berroa and Ramiro Pena for nearly five weeks, I think he'll make a big difference in the lineup. Now, if he could only pitch in relief....

I'm still more concerned about my pitching than I am about my offense. I have Braun as my other LF and I'll have to use some of my offensive depth to fill in at the Util spot.

The win statistic is such crap. Broxton blows a save but gets the win because his offense saved him in the top of the 10th. I have him in another league - a roto league where I needed wins - so it actually helped me, but still, it shows how meaningless that stat means sometimes.

I don't think Yogi quite understands how the DL works. I tried explaining it to him in PM, but he still keeps dropping players on the DL, instead of keeping them on the DL.

And I disagree with TM, nobody is being ripped off in this trade. It favors DB slightly, but not unfair.

the two reasons why i took this trade was because harden can still pitch, and no injury to his pitching arm makes him more valurable. also too i have a feeling that rivera will go down due to his age...and i still have some questions with the yankees. another thing too i am trying to get an all cubs team, so yea lol.

FYI... I approved the trade before I saw all the hubbub here on the message board.

This puts me in a precarious position. While I admit that I was a little surprised that BAM approved the trade, he is clearly getting a player that he wanted and he defended himself in his post above.

With that said, I'd rather not risk losing the league on some silly trade. The league and the friendships I've formed with all of you are much more important - TM has recently been intimating that I'm stealing everyone's players which doesn't really sit right with me.

I'll reverse the trade. BAM, if you still want Harden, perhaps we can work out another trade.

The trade above has been reversed.

Let me ask you guys one thing though... If JL's A-Rod/Josh Hamilton trade for Beltran (a trade that was leaps and bounds beyond overpaying than the trade above is) was actually accepted, would there have been such an outcry? wink

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/01/09 12:19 AM

FWIW DB, I was only busting balls. I wouldn't seriously block a bad trade unless it really affected the game.

As for my A-Rod Hamilton trade, that offer was before A-rod came back, and Hamilton was on the DL too. So it was somewhat of a risk.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/01/09 04:30 AM

Added to my last post... there is such a thing as a "counter offer". There's even a button next to the "accept" and "reject" buttons. Most trades start off one sided, so make a counter offer to try and get what you want.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/01/09 03:14 PM

Commissioner's Note
Although I veered from it this weekend, this is the trade policy I will follow for the rest of the year. You all have seen this (except for perhaps BAM and Yogi) so you should all be familiar with it from our past leagues.

Trade Policy - I will generally approve all trades unless I know there's collusion or I'm convinced that there's been a mistake involved.

I will only overturn trades in 2 scenarios:
1 - I am somehow convinced that an accident occurred in an accepted trade.
2 - If a trade is seriously, I mean seriously, out of whack - e.g. Johan Santana for Oliver Perez. Usually, there's collusion if a trade like this goes down.

Also, the following is the schedule of when trades are effected and the new players show up on your rosters:

Day 0 - Trade agreement is reached between the two players and it shows up on Yahoo.
Day 1 - Trade is approved.
Day 2 - New players appear on your roster.

The one day lag between when a trade is accepted and the trade is approved by me is to give me time to see the trade. In case I don't see it right away (i.e. I don't see it until Day 1 instead of Day 0), I'll approve the trade right away.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/02/09 02:48 PM

wow I don't think the trade should've been such a big issue. I didn't mean NO harm to you DB. it's a thin line when you're offering players and how can you be the one to blame when the other owner accepts a lopsided deal, unless there's a collusion?

call me crazy but I don't see how the last trade is such a big deal if the next-to-last wasn't even discussed. BAM has his reasoning and that Gallardo+Youkilis trade was posibly a similar steal but that's just DB taking advantage of less experienced owners and maybe I'm the one to blame for not trying to do the same. those were just bad trades. there isn't collusion, right? so that's it.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/02/09 08:32 PM

the last one was much more lopsided right off the bat but I do believe that Rich Harden is one of the top 5 SP in baseball when he's healthy and going on. I know he hasn't performed anything close to that and I'm not aware of his DL status and when is he going to come back and if the injury is serious but with BAM trying to put together an all-Cubs team that's what you get. reversing that one was the right thing to do.
Posted By: BAM_233

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/02/09 08:40 PM

tony...u do know that i was joking about the all cubs team. yea it might not make since trading a hall of fame relieve pitcher for somebody that is getting off the DL, but you know a relieve pitcher can be replaced. its just hard to find the same caliper of starters for a pitching staff. that is where harden fits.

It's the truth. You slide Roberts into 2nd base, and you're bullpen is now set. He continues to make dumb trades that weaken himself and makes his main competition stronger. That's OK. Although I must worry more about you, that's one less team that was close to me I have to worry about. You can't win this game with no bullpen, and his just went from OK to awful. He should be in 5th place by the All-Star break.

[Taking off my Commish hat for a second]

I've been trying to trade for Mariano for over two weeks and actually got a trade approved...

Slightly disappointing.

[Commish hat back on]

I think the trade is OK. If we're talking about which team improved its core scoring starters, BL wins this one because he essentially gave up his back-up (a great back-up, but a back-up nonetheless) to get a great reliever.

BAM obviously improves at 2B. How this trade affects the league comes down to:
- How much did BAM lose at RP to gain the improvement at 2B
- How much did BL improve at RP vs. his loss of points at 2B/Util

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/16/09 03:57 AM

today will go down as the craziest day in fantasy baseball history. if the great Giants offense keeps quiet I'll crack 100 pts in BBC and I believe JL will too. I believe it's just the 2nd time I score 100 pts and to do it in the day when there are 2 games is ridiculous. and what is more ridicuous is that everybody who picked the Angels PS will score around that because all the obvious hitters scored 10+
Posted By: Blibbleblabble

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 06/16/09 05:28 AM

I have noticed his inactivity. GB is usually pretty active. I'll check with him, but I think he may have some things going on that is taking his attention away.

you have a better chance at trading him than him performing.

I was joking, really. I don't want to trade him, I was just joking because he had a bad day.

Technically I got the better end of the deal so far. Zambrano has scored 25 points for me, and Jurrgens has scored 24 for you. I'm WAAAAAY better off! grin

Trade Pending

JG trading the guy that will always be known as J.D. Drew's little brother, Stephen Drew [SS, ARI].

DB trading Shin-Shin Choo [OF, CLE]. Inventive fans have given him the following nicknames: "The Choo Choo Train," "Coo Coo Ca Choo" and "Big League Choo."... So JG has that going for him.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 07/02/09 03:36 AM

It's easy to replace a relief pitcher, but it's not easy to replace one of the same quality. I guess I don't understand your logic on RP's.
Posted By: BAM_233

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 07/02/09 03:41 AM

i have a weird way with things...really though this is a big risk base on two reasons. one reason harden might not be at 100% and could get injured again or struggle for the rest of the season. another reason is there wont be any offence coming from the cubs, and i am hoping that isnt the case. its a risk that could pay off great, good, decent, or terrible.
Posted By: Blibbleblabble

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 07/02/09 03:43 AM

I'm not arguing the trade, I think the trade is fine. But I don't understand how you think you can easily replace RP's. If the ones on the waiver were as good as the ones you traded away then DB would have just picked up a closer instead of trading for one.

I have to say I'm proud that my Giants got to Chris Carpenter the other day, but I'm not confident I can catch you. Carpenter and Santana won't slump for long. I've got a lot of question marks on my roster right now.

EDIT: and watch out for TM... he has quietly snuck his way up to 4th place.

Thirdbasemen hate me... I've gone through several this year, and in random order, whoever I bench has a big day. If I stick with one player for a length of time, my benched player kicks ace until I finally start him. crazy

I had the same problem with 3B until I signed Reynolds off the waiver wire. I don't know how long it will last (24 HR, 61 RBI,
13 SB), but I'm riding him as long as I can.

I would say "quickly and quietly rising to the 3rd spot".

that 300 pts gap is a lot. it's funny because I believe my roster is good enough to win any fantasy league in the world but since there are few people in our league the teams are indeed unreal. both mine and yours and JL's, especially with all those top notch closers.

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 07/13/09 01:28 PM

Sorry I've been MIA lately guys. I've been doing a great amount of travelling lately for work (Seattle is a great city, btw) and as I'm wont to do while I'm on the road, I work an extraordinary amount of hours, leaving me too exhausted to do anything else.

BL noticed it on our league's homepage - the little notations by GB's transactions means that yes, I have taken over his team. It's unfortunate and I didn't want to do it, but I have conferred with GB and he's decided that he just can't keep up with the league any longer. (Too bad because he had the makings of a great team). In any case, here's my ground rules for managing his team:

- I will only make free agent transactions if one of his players goes on the DL or if slumping horribly (at my discretion).

- Feel free to offer trades to his team. I will accept/reject as if I was the owner. I will not do any trades between his team and my own.

If you guys have any suggestions for me as it relates to GB's team, just let me know.

Happy All-Star break, everyone!

JL scored 47 points with Buehrle's gem.

I think JG had Randy Johnson's perfect game a couple of years back, but I can't remember if it was in this game or in Baseball Challenge.

BAM, you have 160 games started so make sure you bench all your starting pitchers once you have 162. I'm not sure if you remember or not, but that's our own league rule.

Also, DB, King Justice has 164. So his should have been benched already.

BAM, you are at 167 games started now, five over the limit. RP's who are starting count against your total, so you need Randy Wells and whoever else might be starting games.

If I was JG I'd be pissed since he is right behind you.

I had two left and figured I would go with Lincecum my best pitcher for the last two starts, but of course I got 10 points from him tonight while Zambrano decided to finally put up a big game, 46 points. Even though I've had a fairly successful season, I don't feel like I did enough to make the team better this year. A couple of good trades and a couple of bad ones. Oh well.

oooh are you scared???

I was wondering if you guys would let me get start #163 in honor of the great Zack Greinke.

are people aware of what he's done this year? SI.com's Joe Posnanski keeps pointing it in his blog everyday and one of these days I ran across an article where he listed all the pitchers that had 200-200-200 seasons. (at least 200 inning pitched, 200 K's and 200 ERA+). There are 4 or 5 pitchers that accomplished this and 7 seasons that it happened (Pedro did it 3 times), 2009's Greinke among them.

It's a good thing this league doesn't subtract points for strikeouts or you might have lost with Reynolds. He broke his own strikeout record by 19 this year!

Re: 2009 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball - 10/05/09 05:43 PM

He's a very strange player. Doesn't make a lot of contact for outs. If he connects, it's usually a hit, and 1/2 his hits were for extra bases.

It's too early for this question I know, but my stepson is asking if we can start a fantasy baseball league with some of his friends, and since we won't have quite enough people I thought I would ask if any of you would be interested in joining it. I understand if you don't have the time, but I wanted to ask anyway.

I'll probably bring this up again in the future. I'd rather have people I know in the league instead of opening it up to the public to join.
