Omerta: City of Gangsters - 10/30/14 08:15 PM

Anybody played this? It's a strategy game, made by the creators of the Tropico series, and not unlike them. Atlantic City, 1920s-30s you create your character who comes in from Sicily and start creating your gang while slowly and steadily dominating different areas and then the city.

Most reviewers have given it a 6/10 but for us crime buffs it should automatically get at least 2 more points, bumping it to a solid 8/10 game, at least in my opinion. I'm really enjoying the game right now... you get to take over rackets, launder money, sell booze, make deals (with Lucky Luciano even) choose whether you'll be more feared or liked, each with its own pros and cons.. I gotta say you guys should give it a try.

I have a game idea for you guys.

In Scicily there was a real town. I can not remember the name of it and all the guys I knew who did are dead now.

The government use to put convicted Mafia guys in that town. It was just like any other wild wide open town. Except for the fact you can't leave once your in? In that regard it was like the roach motel remember that? Bugs check in, but they can't check out.

The army stationed outside the town made sure of that. I heard the place called the bandit town. Like I said I can't remember it's real name.

My uncles friends father was sentenced to live in that town. He had a fight in there and was shot in the head and killed inside. My uncles friend said he would go their every so often and clean his fathers bones. He had a picture of him cleaning His fathers skull. It showed HS finger in the hole in his skull where he was shot.

Make a game out of that smile

I bought it when it first came out. I got up to the part where you killed the first Mafia boss you was your real enemy. Actually I killed a few, I got up to the point where I had recruited this black Bumpy Johnson inspired character after saving him from a shootout with KKK. As big of an Organized Crime buff I am, I'm an even bigger fan of a good game. And Omerta just wasn't a good game, it was too repetitive to really get into, I kept having to bust my guys out of prison, like over and over again. I stopped playing one day and never put it back in my console. Been thinking about trying it again, but I sold my 360 and only have an X1 now.

SinatraClub you should keep playing it at least for a little while longer, it gets better I promise. You get to purchase legitimate businesses by buying construction lots, and then you get to fight other gangs. There's also a new DLC/expansion pack The Japanese Incentive which is a whole new campaign/story and adds a couple of new things including characters.

The thing is there's no other organized crime/mob strategy game out there, this is the closest thing we have right now and if you choose to ignore the flaws, relax and just have fun playing it, it's a pretty solid game.
