I haven't watched it yet. My bro said Steven Schirripa was really irritating.

Re: Talking Sopranos Podcast - 04/08/20 01:27 AM

Seemed like Imperioli was really trying to give insight to the show's production while Schirripa treated it more like his stage.

Nice.

Robert Iller and Jamie Lynn Sigler also do a podcast together. Multiple Sopranos characters have been on it..

Looks good but first impressions are that Schirripa does definitely seem to be trying a bit too much, bordering on irritating

He likes to interrupt Michael alot..

Re: Talking Sopranos Podcast - 04/12/20 04:23 PM

In the first episode, Schirripa started talking about how The Sopranos couldn't be made today because of political correctness, and Imperioli quickly changed the subject. In the second episode, Schirripa called Robert DeNiro an "asswhipe", and Imperioli quickly changed the subject again. lol. Imperioli is trying as hard as he can to keep this show about The Sopranos, but it's going to be an uphill battle with that co-host.

Re: Talking Sopranos Podcast - 05/06/20 07:16 PM

They had the actor that played Jackie Sr. on a couple episodes back and AJ is on the next one.

Re: Talking Sopranos Podcast - 05/08/20 03:14 AM

Schirripa is unbearable. I don't think he's contributed anything insightful. He just spouts off like a fan. Like you could take anyone off the street and they would butt in with the same takes. I know he wasn't in season 1 but there have been times where Imperioli brought up scenes with him and Junior even though they're out of sequence, just to give Steve the chance to delve into content a little deeper than shit like "well we know the mob wants money, that's what they're all about", and still he just delivers a couple of simple minded musings with no insight. Imperioli is great, btw. He worked with a lot of the good independent directors and actors that came out of the city in the 80's and 90's and offers interesting backstories on the Sopranos production, too. Steve will probably get better when they get into season 2 and he recalls the scenes he did with Chianese but it's rough sitting through him now. I'm pretty much just tuning him out and waiting for Michael to talk.

Re: Talking Sopranos Podcast - 05/08/20 11:02 AM

I like both Imperioli and Schirippa, I don't find Steve to be as annoying as everyone else seems to do. He wasn't apart of season one, he doesn't have much insight to add to something he wasn't apart of. Imperioli often goes on tangents about people's filmography (that also has little to do with the sopranos) and no one complains about that. End of the day, they're two different people running a podcast, its good to have some contrast of personalities. The only thing I see is that they haven't yet built a chemistry that works, hopefully in time that will change. Until then, just enjoy the show

I think the last couple of episodes haven't been to bad,not like the first few. He does like to ramble on and it would be better if they spoke more about the show, but it's interesting nevertheless some of the stories he tells.

We have to bear in mind that they are two totally different people, Steve was a doorman and got into acting by chance, where as Michael is a trained actor. I loving this podcast and is a must for any diehard fan.

I don't think Steve got into acting by chance. Frank Cullotta got him a bit part in Casino after Steve begged him for a role when Frank was the tecnical adviser for the movie. Frank got him in touch with the casting director. They knew each other from back in Vegas. Steve is in the bar in the scene where Nicky stabs the guy with the pen. Frank said he gave them that story after he saw Larry Neumann stab a guy in prison with a ball point pen. That bit part led to other shit. Right place, right time.
