Why did the Soprano's end?

Did it end due to poor ratings or something?

IMO if during the NY-NJ war the lupertazzi kill Tony the show would jump the shark but maybe because Gandolfini was paid 1 milion a episode and so the other actors. So at the end is a money question.

Same as most shows, the actors want better paydays or have other opportunities down the road for other movies, shows, etc.

Because all good things must come to an end.

Because David Chase has a bit of contempt for the audience and was probably not too happy the show had gotten as popular as it did. Gandolfini was also a pain in the ass to work with apparently. Brilliant on the show obviously, but if the star is disappearing 2 weeks at a time and holding up production and behaving irrationally and the cast is demanding more $$$$, time to wrap it up.
