I was really surprised to hear he wasn't a made man when they discussed killing him, I mean he was really close to Johnny Sack and knew a lot of inside information for an associate.
Was it purely a case of closed books or was there another reason?

The fact that he was Johnny's protege doesn't mean he has to be made. Christopher was pretty much part of Tony's inner circle since the beginning, yet it takes him until the third season to get his button.

Agreed Don. Plus I got the sense that New York didn't "open the books" too often. If Joey was still alive I'm sure he would have been made around the time that Gerry torciano and burt gervasi were made
