The Executive Game

The Executive Game - 12/20/14 10:19 AM

I never quite understood Silvio's position in the Executive game.

Was he playing for real with his own money ?

How angry he was getting would suggest he was, although i never understood if his role was just to juice the other players further.

Because after the game is over, when Tony is calculating how much they made, Silvio runs off a number of the money he used himself in the game, did he get it back ?

He was playing for real, he'd just probably get his original amount of money back I think, maybe even a percentage.

Sil was there to be a nasty fuck and verbally abuse Matt Bevilacqua. Oh, and coin new insulting names like "Cheese Fuck."

Actually, when you think about it, that wasn't much of an executive game -- Frank Jr., Silvio, Dr. Fried, Johnny Sack, Paulie, and later Davey Scatino. Three wiseguys and three outsiders. Junior lets this go to shit, and earlier the car theft ring with Naples. How the hell did he make boss again?

Sil probably paid in, but got at least some of it back as a cut, which would have softened the sting of a loss. I think during the final accounting, Paulie indicates the game's profits were around "85 boxes of ziti," to which Sil notes $2,000 of that was his, certainly a lot less than Scatino lost. And Sil probably didn't have Richie down at the Bing looking for a boat with t'ree propellas.

Haha to be fair to Silvio, Matt Bevilacqua did turn out to be a total "cheese fuck".

If you get a chance to see that scene sometime, notice the evil little grin Tony has just after he sends Matt over to sweep. Sil is already on edge, and Tony knows the slightest thing is going to send Sil over.

Re: The Executive Game - 12/26/14 06:19 AM

Haha yeah, all orchestrated by Tony.

That was even after Chrissys prior warning that Silvio was a nasty fuck when hes gambling.

Re: The Executive Game - 12/26/14 02:03 PM

There's some great insults in that sequence - obviously the cheese fuck reference, but Paulie calling Frank, Jr. "Chairboy of the Board" always makes me laugh.

Then you have Sil completely flustered after his meltdown, and all he can muster to Dr. Fried is "oh, go fix a dick or something," which prompts Paulie to tell more stupid Viagra jokes.

Re: The Executive Game - 12/27/14 07:13 AM

Why don't you go fix a dick or whatever it is you do.

Then Paulies joke about raising the titanic with the viagra lol

"He won't quit, this fucking guy..."

And of course Davey telling Chairboy of the Board all his brilliant strategies for his sporting goods store, none of which involve being busted out by Tony.

The "cheese fuck" outburst was definitely one of my favorite Sil moments. That look Tony has on his face when he tells Bevilacqua to go sweep under him is priceless. "I'm losin my balls over here, this fuckin moron's playin Hazel??!?"

There's few things more legit funny in the Soprano's I think, than Jackie Jr's sit down. But the executive game scene is one of those few things.

Wasn't enough players at the game. Plus there was no pussy.

Who was the shy at the game Chris for Tony?

Re: The Executive Game - 12/30/14 10:38 PM

Tony was - Frank, Jr. told Tony he'd settle up next time, plus Scatino lied to Chris that Tony okayed another $5,000.

Up until Scatino showed up, that wasn't much of a step above Richie's game earlier in the episode. Now when Feech had the game in Season 5, that was a much more of an executive game. Even Junior's game in the mental unit was a better crowd...

Did you get my list of toys ?

Re: The Executive Game - 12/31/14 06:20 AM

Something I never noticed until recently - they recast Dr. Fried for Season 5. The first actor had such a nasally voice compared to the actor that had his daughter's wedding robbed by Feech.

Feech's story about how hes got his shoe in this pot head lol.

Re: The Executive Game - 12/31/14 02:27 PM

Then Tony interrupting it with the "che poots" comment. Feech was livid.
