One thing I would of liked to see in the Sopranos which was never shown is how the major characters would of dealt with being sent to jail for long periods, life for instance. Obviously the thinking from Chase was that he probably wanted to keep the main characters in the plot etc so they never got caught. Only Pauly did that short stint in the jail.
We saw a few FBI attempts to nail some of the characters, the listening device, the female undercover and numerous rats yet never did the main core of characters from NJ get caught and convicted. In this case it wasn't all that realistic, Maltisanti was a real sloppy criminal leaving evidence all over the place, would of loved to see him facing life, I think he would of flipped which would of been a great storyline!

Opinions on this?

The part with Paulie in prison was priceless the part with the phone must've been based on Galante. I agree with you it would've been good to see chris jailed. I think the main reason none of them were was the fact thre was only a small amount of core characters Chris,Tony,Paulie and Sil. I mean the last couple of episodes with Chris dead and Sil in a coma it didn't feel the same whn Benny and Carlo where getting more involved . I totally agree it wasn't realistic though it was one of the many unrealistic parts of the show.

I keep thinking back on when Chris and Paulie shot that waiter. Like how the hell did they really get away with that.

Or how about in the beginning of the series when they track down the degenerate gambler in the parking lot of HMO and they knock him down with the car with a bunch of people around?Including the people working in the office? Then Tony proceeds to beat him.

In real life the Cops would have been there in 2 seconds.

You make a good point Nicky. I think that would have lent some authenticity to the show. Tony's first consigliere could have been in the joint and he would have gone visit him. Silvio could have still acted.

I am positive that the family had the police on a payroll even though it was only seen with Vin Makazian and the cop seen in The Happy Wanderer, called Danny Boy. Pussy Bonpensiero and fellow rat Eugene Pontecorvo are seen distancing themselves from the government, only giving them a little and often lying to their supervisor. But the FBI guys, mostly Skip Lipari, are also willing to look the other way in order to get some better info from the informants. This would explain why Tony, Chrissy, Paulie, Silvio and the rest are on such a lucky break, unlike Feech La Manna.
