Yeh but underboss is No 2 in the family he could have been juniors protege for all we know and they bring a random actor in for 2 seconds

Re: Joseph Sasso - 04/09/12 01:21 AM

He looked as bout as old as junior at the time so i doubt he was his protege, most likely he was his closest and most trusted soldier and was awarded underboss when junior became boss. Or he could have already been underboss to Jackie and did not want to fight junior and tony for the job.

How did Junior (A capo) bypass the Underboss?

If he didn't want to fight over boss position he would have stepped down from underboss

Re: Joseph Sasso - 04/12/12 09:36 PM

First one i can think of is that Catena didnt fight for the job with Tony Ryan when Vito died, he was the underboss when Genovese went to jail

Re: Joseph Sasso - 04/12/12 09:41 PM

In the news report for his arrest, they said Sasso was "ailing". So he was sickly. With Jackie just dying from cancer and it nearly causing a war, the Capos would never back an old, sickly man for Boss, whether he was Underboss or not. And given that he was sickly, he probably didn't want the job.

Re: Joseph Sasso - 04/12/12 10:08 PM

Dont know exactly how everything went down within the Genovese family between 1980 to 1982, nor does anyone else that would talk about it, but there defiantly wasnt a war.

Re: Joseph Sasso - 04/12/12 10:23 PM

In 1967 when Luchesse died Carmine Tramunti was named the boss and i dont know if he was even a capo at that time. Anyway Stefano LaSalle was the underboss at the time of Luchesse's death. No war. Thats makes four so far.

Re: Joseph Sasso - 04/04/13 02:37 PM

Do any of you remember in Tony's flashback, his father is arrested for running a scam at an amusement park and there was a guy called Francesco "Cicci" Sasso who got shot in the kneecap? He was allegedly a member of the DiMeo crime family back in the 70s. I really wondered if they were brothers or cousins but nowhere does it state they were actually related. Based on the timeline, Joseph and "Cicci" must have both made their bones in between 1970-1995.

Anyway, back on topic -- I don't think Joey should have had more screen time, Chase couldn't possible focus on every single inducted member of the family, even if this wiseguy was the underboss at one time.

He is also seen outside the courthouse next to Junior during the trial, right before Junior falls down the steps.

A lot of characters need more screen time.
