Paulie's Collect Call

Paulie's Collect Call - 07/02/10 08:40 PM

This is kinda silly and trivial, but I was recently watching Season 4 for the umpteenth time and something took me by surprise, considering David Chase's great attention to detail. I can't believe I never noticed it before.

Remember when Paulie was in jail in Ohio and he made several collect calls to Johnny Sack (one of which was about the fat joke that Ralphie made about Ginny)?

Well, Johnny clearly accepted one of the phone calls (if not all of them) on his cell phone. So since when can you get a collect call on a cell phone?

You can't.

I'm just sayin tongue grin.

This might be a good place to write this...

I've just finished revisiting Season One. In the final episode, "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano", the Feds play a tape to Tony of recordings made at Green Grove between Junior and Livia. One of the recorded conversations took place in a cinema queue in the previous episode, not Green Grove; in that scene, the wind is notably strong - but the recording resembles an interior acoustic.

Good catch, Mick. There were so few mistakes made on the show, it's almost fun to look for them.

how the jails in pennsylvania work now are you can't make collect calls from a correctional facility. the inmate has to have money on their books to pre pay for it

. That is true they were standing in line at the movies on a windy day.

by the way, this episode ("I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano") is filled with out-of-character moments and leaps of logic made by them. Melfi basically giving diagnosis on someone she only knows through Tony's words and flat out telling him his mother tried to have him killed are the worst.

plus, the tapes the FBI plays to Tony are either a plot hole OR the feds edited them, putting some lines in a different context to make it sound like Livia was pushing Junior to kill Tony. OR even it was just an editing choice to sum up the season-long feud as quickly as possible so that they could cover everything else in the episode.

LOL....Within the pass few months they put alot of those signs up a few blocks down from my house, near the public housing project..."Make collect calls to cell phones from prison! 1800 -XXXX

I was at CFCF on State Road in Northeast Phila for a lil bit back in 2009, they gave us three calls a day or 10 minutes, but people that used collect calls or whatever were on the phone forever. Thankfully I got a bail reduction and was out of there....It was getting cold out so all the whackjobs purposely get locked up for 3 hots and a cott ..3 to a cell they'd have those plastic sleds on the ground

See this is funny and sad all at once. Something similar happened where I live. There is a Bionic Burger on the edge of a housing projects if you will. Well everyone goes there cause its frickin delicious, but anyway, When it first opened all they had was pepsi, coke, Dr pepper, etc. I went back a month later and they have signs EVERYWHERE, I mean literally everywhere in the building that said "now serving grape drink and strawberry crush"

I guess my point is that they dont put signs up that say "you can now call cell phones from prision" and "now serving grape drink and strawberry crush" in the suburbs if you will.

As I said, sad but funny. And no I am not a racist, I would laugh if they put signs up in the suburbs that implied we really loved sprite or some shit. Funny is funny.
