That tree is flawed. Palmice was a consigliere? Richie Aprile was a soldier? No, he was a Capo.

Another thing that is incorrect is that Carlo Gervasi became capo after Jimmy Alteri got whacked. The picture doesnt indicate that

Re: !!!!CHECK THIS OUT!!!! (Pic Inside) - 06/15/06 07:51 PM

A few things are wrong Jackie wasn't boss he was acting boss and Tony aint acting boss hes street boss. Paulie aint a Captain hes Underboss (According to the HBO website) and I thought the other Parisi brother was a soldier in Junior crew and thats why they killed him maybe I'm wrong. Bobby aint a Captain hes a Lt. Janice made the complaint earlier this season "To be his age and not be a Captain" and Palmice was also a Lt. not a Consiglere maybe when junior became boss he was made underboss but not consiglere. And Chris aint an acting Captain he is a Captain and Vitos dead.

I have seen Palmice listed as Consigliere on some other sources.

But if Mikey Palmice wasn't Junior's original consligliere, who was?

Re: !!!!CHECK THIS OUT!!!! (Pic Inside) - 06/16/06 02:45 AM

Palmice was an enforcer I think.

"Spoons" Parisi was a soldier in Junior's crew and whacked because he was spreading rumors, mainly the one about Tony trying to smother his mother.

From Answers.com:

Mikey Palmice was a Mafia consigliere on the HBO TV series, The Sopranos. He was played by Al Sapienza. Mikey Palmice was Corrado "Junior" Soprano's main trigger man and he was almost always beside him. He was a major character in the first season. He wanted to take care of any opposition to Junior, including Tony Soprano and Christopher Moltisanti in order to help Junior become the boss. He worked alongside Chucky Signore, another of Junior's top cronies. Mikey advised Junior to take care of business and not allow anyone to step over him. He killed Brendan Filone while Junior watched, triggering a war between Junior and Tony, resulting in Junior being made boss of the DiMeo family. Mikey was beaten by Tony because of the hit. When Uncle Junior discovered that three of his capos--Tony, Jimmy Altieri and Larry Boy Barese--along with New York Underboss Johnny Sack were meeting at Green Grove Retirement Community, he believed he was being conspired against and odered Mikey to have Tony taken out.

Uncle Junior had originally set the order in motion, but it didn't work out, since Tony was able to survive the assassination attempt and even kill one of his assailants in self defense. Tony later decided to get rid of both Chucky and Mikey in order to cut Junior's ability of attempting another hit on him. Tony shot Chucky himself and Mikey Palmice was killed after being chased down and shot by Chris and Paulie. Mikey tried to blame it all on Uncle Junior, even Brendan's death. But Chris made it well known. "My friend Brendan, you shot him in his bathtub naked, no way to run." And with that, Paulie and Chris let loose a ton of bullets, piercing Mikey's body and leaving him dead in a puddle in the middle of the woods. Shortly afterwards, Tony either destroyed dissident survivors from Junior's crew, i.e. Philly Parisi, or kept those whom he knew he could control such as Gigi Cestone and Bobby Bacala. Uncle Junior himself was only saved by being indicted by the federal government. Thereafter, Tony solidified his position as boss of the family by taking most of Junior's business from him, but allowing him to keep his title as boss.

Don't take it personal DD. They're just pointing some things out on the chart that they don't agree with.

To be honest wherever you look there are questionable statements. I remember when I bought the original video cassettes for Season 1, Paulie Walnuts was already being described as one of Tony's capos -- he was still a soldier, though.

Equally, and this may just be my poor knowledge of the show (I've only seen Season 1-4) the plot regarding De Meo (spelling),(the original boss)at the time Jackie Aprile was Acting Boss was never satisfactorally resolved.

Did De Meo die?

I just wanted to add I was rewatching season one to check and see if they stated Palmice's rank and the FBI board had him as soldier rember that episode when the FBI took pictures while Tony toasted about Junior being new boss and it showed the Criminal family tree it flashed by Plamice and he was listed as "Soldier".

And I see Phil is listed as Capo when hes the acting boss of the New York Family. Just saying .

Hey guys, newby here!!! How is everyone??

I just wanted to add to this and other comments. The Sopranos are great, HUGE fan.

But.....

There are alot of flaws with the show, like for instance....

Silvo, whom we know is tony's consiglere involved in actually pulling the trigger, same with Mikey GrabBag Palmice.

The Consiglere is the family "consultant" they are advised to stay the FURTHEST away from actual deeds of the family, IE, schemes, murders ETC.

This is in large part why you see Silvio running the Bing, its a legitimate business. The Consiglere is supposed to seem as legit as possible to the outside world, stay out of jail at all costs.

now, we all know this doesnt always happen....

My point is that Grabbag is waaaaaaaaaaaay to involved in murders, enforcing, shakedowns, extortion, to be a consiglere. Everything he does is the work of a street soldier.

Plus you remember in the episode when hes talking to his wife and he says I may be getting a bump or 2 cause Tony Soprano is on his way out and i mean as in forever.......well.....2 bumps from consiglere and hes the boss, so ya, hes a soldier.

The family is actually called the De meo crime family. The Soprano's are just a crew. At the time jackie is make acting boss, de meo is serving life, they never answer why Jr. and then Tony are the boss and not the acting boss.

Wait Mickey Grab Bag wasn't Junior's consigliere?
Oh. I thought: C. Soprano (boss), J. Sasso (underboss), M. Palmice (consigliere).

Now that you mention it, during the breaking news report on the arrests the reporter confirms Corrado and Sasso's rankings (Boss, Underboss) and states that Palmice is a "Soprano enfourcer and loan-sharking chief".

Actually I thought the Ercoli DiMeo/Official Boss plotline was a great touch, reflecting the "Acting" designations applied to numerous modern day LCN families, where the "official" boss is a guy doing life far removed from day to day op's, but still nominally "in charge".

Also, I think the term "street boss" shows that Tony was considered the acting boss anyway by the feds, especially once Jackie had actually died.

Re: !!!!CHECK THIS OUT!!!! (Pic Inside) - 09/07/11 01:35 AM

I always liked the Ercoli DiMeo-background, it prevents Tony from ever dwelling into bona-fide-high-up-in-the-Sierra-mountains-territory - it's obvious that he has a lot of money running through his hands but he also wastes it like there's no tomorrow and he never stops hustling. many times we've seen him take a huge stand for a few hundred dollars even screwing his close friends.

he's the street boss but after all they're just a "glorified crew" in the eyes of the bigger fish in NY. I think that's a very nice touch that leads you to root for Tony.
