Wow. Ending is Incredible (Spoilers)

I cannot believe Season 5's ending. The beginning of the episode went by so slow, and then about halfway through, bam! I can't believe that Tony went and whacked Tony B., it was incredible. I thought maybe it was a dream sequence, but damn. And then Johnny Sack getting nailed by the FBI, that was crazy too? What do you guys think the fallout will be next season?

I just watched the 12th episode where Ad got whacked by Sil. I've seen all 13 episodes when they aired but why do you think they didn't show Sil killing her? They pan up and all you hear are the gun shots

I think it was purely for taste reasons - they got so much $hit about the episode when Tracy gets murdered that I think they just didn't want to go through that all over again. Personally, I think the way they did it was very powerful anyway, adding a more graphic shot would probably have added nothing.

I don't think they needed to show Adriana's murder. Seeing her run away from Sil, his cold treatment of her, and the sound of the shot and the crow afterwards was enough of a "shock factor" for anyone.

Quick question, Raymondo - Which one is Tracy? I forget...what episode?

I think it was episode 5 or 6 of series 3, Ralph's girlfriend. He beats her to death when she insults him.

Yeah. I think it was just the director's choice. But, I will allow that it might have been to segue her return. In fact, I think it's possible that if there is to be a seventh season, they might not bring her back at all during season 6 in order to lull us all into complacency about her.

To go back to the Adriana, I think Chase has gone on record to say she is dead, and Drea De Matteo also.
I suppose it's technically possible that Silvio let her go and just shot into the air, but I don't think we're supposed to infer that from what we see, and it would take a lot of explanation.

The only explanation it would require is that she survived. We don't know where in her body Silvio shot her. We don't see that. TV has given us some bizarre plotlines (how about Bobby Ewing's dream); Ade's return would not even reach that threshhold. I can see a teaser during the final seconds of the final episode of season 6 as the camera pans by a hospital intensive care unit where we see a blonde women lying in a bed hooked up to all kinds of tubes and machines. Is it Ade or isn't it?

I'm afraid Adriana LaCerva will not be returning to "The Sopranos", unless it's in someone's dream. She is definitely dead.

He would have shot her in the head, there is no doubt about that. A high-ranking mafioso like Silvio, with an important hit like this, would definately have shot her in the head to make sure she's dead. And if she survived a gunshot to the head? That's no more likely than anyone else in the show surving a hit where we don't actually see the body cut into pieces, or officially anounced as dead.

The only chance that the character will return in the script, is the discovery of her body at some point in my opinion.

It was not exactly the most remote place in the world for the character to be shot, would not surprise me if her body was left quite open for discovery. Would certainly send a message out to the FBI that her cover as an informant was known about.

Yeah, you don't need to see any action all the time. Adriana was the character we always expected to be killed, so when they did it, they weren't just gonna make it another normal killing. The pan made it more memorable.

As for what's next, I've heard rumors that Phil will take power.

I was wondering that after watching the DVD and not on TV. What will become of New York now? Phil & Tony don't get along at all. Also, Tony said at the end of Season 5 that certain people "would be dealt with in time" for not being behind him in his decision with Tony B

Adriana is definitely dead. If she would happen to come back next season I would have to give the writers a thumbs down for incredibility.

It's my understanding that the sitcom Joey is not doing as good as expected in the ratings. If it is canceled, could Ade return to the Sopranos? Again, stranger stuff has happend on TV, so I think my hospital teaser is quite a possibility.

As an alternative, Chris' continued involvement with drugs has him seeing Ade's ghost which eventually drives him insane taking him out of the picture, leaving Tony with no blood relative in the family, or Chris' spilling the beans to the Feds.

I think we should have definitely seen Adriana's corpse. Her hit, as tragic as it was, was pretty unedifying. Seeing her corpse, as an aftermath of the hit would have hammered home that she was in fact, murdered, and would have had a greater shock factor than a simple pan.

I disagree; the pan was simple, short and powerful. It's an obvious, even clichéd thing to say, but in not seeing Adriana dead, we see a lot more in our imaginations.

Definitely! I agree. You don't always have to verify someone's dead. I think the cinematography in that episode (along with the entire series) does very well. When the camera panned towards the trees, it's symbolic. CDLCN was right when he says we put our imaginations into play, and with the way our mind works, it's so much more than what a camera can show. What I especially like the series is how each episode ends. As soon as something happens *BOOM* credits. Keeps it open-ended so you'll look forward to watching it next week.
