Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 01/03/02 04:38 PM

I was wondering what your favorite episodes, scenes, and lines from the Sopranos are. I don't have HBO, so I've only seen the first two seasons. If you're gonna post something from season 3, please include a spoiler alert so I don't accidentally read it (I'm going nuts waiting for season 3 to come out on DVD).

Here are mine:

EPISODE
I like the episode from season 1 where Tony and Meadow take a drive through New England visiting colleges and then Tony runs into a guy who was in the witness protection program. Good stuff.

SCENE
My favorite scene, bar none, is from season 1 where Jackie Aprile is in the hospital and Tony has the fake nurse come in to check Jackie's "vital signs." Jackie's reaction is priceless when her boobs pop out of her dress.

LINE
Although it is a very un-PC line, my favorite line is from an episode in season 2 where Meadow is talking more about going to Berkeley and is defending her choice by telling Tony that there have been more Nobel Prize winners in the Bay Area than anywhere else. So then Tony replies, "Nobel Prize in what? Packing fudge?"

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 01/03/02 05:44 PM

Episode: Probably the episode the Richie gets out of the can. The whole part with Beansey is great. Plus just pissing everyone else off by acting like everything that was his should still be his. Another good part is where he is sitting talking to Tony and right when he begins to talk about business, Tony gets up and Silvio sits down and says no talking directly to the boss about business.

Scene: From Season 2, when Paulie goes to visit the psychic in New York. The psycic starts to mention the name of the first guy he ever clipped, then Paulie starts to yell and cuss, but the best part is when he picks up the chair and throws it across the room.

Line: In the finale in season 2, when Pussy is talking about the girl he knew while on his little "vacation." He says, "She used to drink me under the table every night. Then I'd eat her out while I was down there."

Episode...Season 2 episode 1

just reflects on everything that happened in season 1...and shows ya what everyones doing now

Scene....Sil's Godfather Impressions

Scene-
When Christopher is taking his " Acting for Writers" class and is doing the Rebel Without a Cause scene and ends up getting so emotional he uses his script father as a punching bag. For some reason that scene stands out as a very poignant one for me. Maybe because it gives alot of insight into Christophers character..which I like alot.
Scene-
Season 2 finale...Richi Aprile makes the mistake of punching Janice and she handles it in true Soprano's fashion..just classic. Then when Chris and Furio take the body to Satriale's and Chris says " It'll be a long time before I eat here again" as they are disposing the body. To funny!...it appeals to my morbid sense of humor I suppose.

Silvio is great. Aside from Tony, he is definitely my favorite character. The way he speaks and most especially his facial expressions are priceless.

Sil is my personal favourite...just the way he talsk/dresses etc...cracks me up

It's either episode 5 or 6 on Season two, can't remember the name or #. It's the one where Furio beats up those cokeheads in teh tanning salon with a baseball bat.

That was great. Furio would have to probably be my favorite character, equal only to Paulie. If for some reason Paulie ever got killed I'd probably quit watching it :p

I also liked the snow episode on season 3, but I won't say anymore about that because of the dude who hasn't seen that season yet. It was directed and wirtten by Steve Buceimi, who was Mr Pink in Resavoir Dogs, or however you spell his name. Hes cool.

My fav episode from season 1 would have to be. Like someone mentioned earlier, when Tony and Meadow are taking a tour of colleges.

And Tony sees a rat responsible for sending many people to jail.

Fav Episode from season 2 would be, when Furio is beating the sh*t out of the owner of the tanning selon(sp?) with the baseball bat, and Tony is in his suburban smoking a cigar and enjoying it.

Fav line would be have to be.

The same thing goes for me.

My favorite was from last season, when Tony and Furio show up on a golf course to accost the doctor who's ducking Uncle Junior's phone calls. It's poetry to watch them intimidate the doctor, especially Furio, who calls golf a "stupid fakking game," then smacks the doctor on the head saying, "Dere is a bee on yur kep!" Then the doctor gets on his cellphone and tells his receptionist to put through all calls from Mr. Soprano toute suite. How many times have you wished you could pull that kind of suasion on doctors who don't return your calls?

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 01/07/02 02:50 PM

Turnbull -

I have to agree with you.....that scene (on the golf course) was priceless. Poor Furio should have stayed away from turkey "sandweeches" (as he said it) though.

Special mention should be made of any scene with Silvio doing his "shrug".

My favorite episode/scene was with Paullie Walnuts and Chris in the pine barrens (as they chased the Russian mobster). Paullie's line about the ketchup and relish packages always cracks me up.

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 01/07/02 03:50 PM

SC: Oh yes, that Pine Barrens scene was right up there with the golf course! And it probably was the champ for largest number of snappy lines in "Sopranos" (though "Sex in the City" is probably the wittiest TV show).
Among my other favorite "Sopranos" lines:
--Ralphie, after being made a Capo, shows up late for a meeting with the guys. Paulie gigs him for being late. Ralphie says, "Well, next week I might be on time, but you'll still be stupid."
--Carm gigs Tony about the Russian mistress, noting that some other guy with a mistress made her pregnant, to the embarrassment of the entire family, plus, what about sexually transmitted diseases? Tony indignantly replies: "I had her tested for AIDS!!! What kinda guy do you think I am???" (My sister characterized that exchange as "twisted male logic.")
--Tony, encountering a guy who refuses to remove his baseball cap in Artie's restaurant, intimidates him into removing it, calling the guy a "sfacin'" (pronounced "sfa-CHEEN," basically means "jerk-off.") I'm not Italian, but I grew up in Italian neighborhoods, so I'm familiar with Neapolitan and Sicilian expressions. "Sfacin' is a Neapolitanism, hadn't heard since the old neighborhood. In the immortal Lena Wertmuller film, "Seven Beauties," the great Giancarlo Giannini, playing the two-bit Neapolitan gangster Pasqualino Settebellizza, refers to a local pimp as a "sfacin' a mierda," which the subtitle translates as "son of a bitch."

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 01/07/02 08:00 PM

S'fachim refers more to the *ahem* male ejaculate. Its usually used as a curseword, but in some instances its used as an endearing word of love (as when a father pats his daughter's cheek and says it softly).

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 01/07/02 08:10 PM

The show has so many great lines......The New York capo who moved into Tony's neighborhood (Johnny Sack) has a wife who is very heavy. Tony's crew was dissing her about her weight, and all PC aside, I found myself cracking up at some of the comments. My favorite was:

"Ginny Sack is so fat that her blood type is Ragu". (a spaghetti sauce)

In the "Pine Barrens" episode Bobby Bacala is telling about a hunting trip he took as a kid. He was in a car and saw a sign that said "Bear Left", so he went home.

The show has some great writing!!

Another scene I really liked was from season 2 when Uncle Junior had to wear that mask-looking device strapped to a tube to help his sleep apnea...Tony took one look at him and asked him, "How many MiGs did you shoot down today?"

Funny stuff.

Favorite Episode : When Tony and the gang go to Italy. Just liked the whole overall storyline, getting Furio, the Italian Girl, etc. Great lines and scenes in that one.

Favorite Line : Uncle Junior : " I've got the feds so far up my ass I can taste brill cream!"

Favorite Scene : Paulie Walnuts at the pshycic, when the pshycic is talking up to the air and Paule asks who he is talking to and then throws the chair yelling " Fu--ing Queers! "

The Italy episode was a classic one as well. I loved it when Paulie kept going around and calling everyone "Commendatori" like he was just a regular Italian dude.

Another favorite line is when Tony and Carmela are in bed talking about their daughter Meadow.

And Tony says "if she finds out we're powerless, we're f*cked".

My favorite is the "executive cardgame" in Season 2. Frank Sinatra, jr, a penile implant doctor, and Silvio are among the players, and Matt Bevilaqua tries to clean up the cheese on the floor under Silvio. Silvio launches into an hysterical tirdade: "why now? I'm losin' my balls here. Leave the f**'n cheese on the floor. Every morning I stuff cheese in my socks; it smells like your [girlfriend's] crotch."
I scream when I watch it.

Don't know if it was my favorite scene....but the last episode of season 2 where Tony is talkin to those fish on the pier and the one with Big Pussy's voice says "Tony, you see these guys next to me? They're sleepin." Classic.

I also liked the end of the episode in Season 1 where they're at the meeting where Uncle Junior is named skipper. The way the music is played as the camera on the guy's nametag goes off is pure genius.

Have to forgive me...I don't have HBO either so I'm not sure on exact episode numbers. Probably have the quotes wrong too.

It was in the first season where him and meadow go on a tour of the different schools. he runs it to a rat and kills him with a extenion cord.

My favorit line was where tony was pissed at melfri(sp) he throws money on the floor and said "oh yeah well stick it up your ass" I started laughing my ass off.

My favorit sceen was the hospital visit with the nurse with big tits and she was messing around with that one guy.

Yeah...the scene with Adrianna undressing saved the episode. Other than that it was crappy.

my favorite episode has gotta be the one where Paulie and Christopher are stuck in the woods after they botch the killing of the big Russian. That one line "...the guy killed 13 chechnyans(forgive my spelling)single handedly..." again i paraphrase... Can't wait for the new season! that guy survived and is out there somewhere!!!

Favorite episode: The first episode. It establishes the characters and the series. It was a pilot that was developed for a long time by Chase and it shows. This ep was almost made into a movie. The soundtrack is movie quality, as it paces like Goodfellas.

Favorite scene: When Pussy has that quiet moment with Christopher while wearing a wire (season 2). It shows how Pussy can't completely side with the feds, and how the direct contact with Tony makes him feel guilty for turning on him.

Quote: Any Silvio impersonation of the Godfather Trilogy.

On the general subject of "Sopranos":
Have you noticed that Frank Vincent, who has played a gangster in just about every movie and TV series over the past 20 years, has yet to make an appearance in "Sopranos"? Wonder why not?

I'd recommend to start from the very beginning and go from there. Starting in the middle might confuse you a bit because a lot of the character development happens at the beginning of the series (obviously). But if they don't have the episodes starting from the beginning, just get ahold of whatever you can. It's a great show, and if you're into mob movies, then you'll love this show.

Frank Vincent played Salvy in "Raging Bull," Billy Batts in "Goodfellas," Frankie (Nicky's sidekick) in "Casino." He was in Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" and "Jungle Fever," and played DiB in "Gotti." The guy's been in almost as many movies as the MGM lion...

I think that Tony Soprano fulfills what many people in society believe what the mafia is like. I don't know any real mafiosos, so all I have to go on is what I see on television. To me, the Sopranos is a lot more realistic than the Godfather movies. But what do I know? I'm just a guy from Southern California.

My favorite eposide has got to be the one after chris gets shot. It shows sides of paulie, silvio and pussy that had never been seen before.

my favorite line?? Easy! Where Junior says,
" If he told me to take a crap on the deck of the queen mary, an hour later they'd be hosing it down with disenfectant."
Junior is the king of one liners.

The Sopranos is such a great show. I just finished watching the first two seasons on DVD. I just got HBO and now they are starting at the beginning of season 3. Sweet!

Favorites are too hard to mention as they are so numerous.

Episodes: I seem like the episodes where the traditional good guy/bad guy roles are reversed and we are cheering for the bad guys (the mobsters) instead of the good guys. The ones that come to mind:
* In season 1, the mob is under investigation and every is trying to keep low. But Christopher is mad because he is not listed as a mobster in the newspapers. Great stuff. Also one of my favorite scenes, where Christopher holds up the bakery because he is being disrespected.

* The episode where Tony and Meadow take a trip to the college. One of my favorite lines is from this episode: "There is no mafia."

* The first episode of season 3. Not actually a great episode, but I liked the way they had me rooting for the Sopranos and against the Feds.

At the risk of gettin' ran off this BB, I must confess I've never seen The Sopranos, I don't have HBO, but I've been tempted more than once to rent Season One on DVD at Blockbuster. The only thing is Blockbuster will only let'cha rent the whole friggin' set at once, not one at a time. Maybe I'm just a tightwad. I read what yous guys have said. I love GF (DUH!), Goodfellas, Donny Brasco, etc. Is it worth my hard-earned $ to rent The Sopranos season one?

how about bumping up a thread that's about as old as the Iraq war? and with a quote from Turnbull!

that scene is just great. I know it's somewhere around season 3 so I'm getting there, but right now I just watched season 2, episode 9 "From where to eternity" - or the one after Chris gets shot - I watched most of season 3 before but haven't seen more than a couple of episodes from the latter seasons. recently I've been downloading every single episode and watching them in order tongue

since the show is so great, I like pointing out the few flaws and less inspired episodes so I'll throw a worst section as well.

best episode - "Pine Barrens"; but you just can't forget "College" and one favorite of mine that never gets a mention is "Full Leather Jacker". it's short and effective. I wonder why that episode runs only 45 minutes but it worked out for the better; I just didn't see the Chris hit coming;

best scene - the golf course scene, Rusty Irish being thrown away - another great episode, S1 #6, "Pax Soprana" - Junior at the top of his game;

best line - "his house looked like shit", or Junior after hearing that Rusty Irish is selling dope to the neighborhood kids: "oh really? what's that smuggling-fuck name?";

worst episode - both "The Pilot" and "Commendatori" deserve a mention - I don't know how someone could include these among their favorite like people did back in 2002 (!) - not even Paulie's wandering in Naples saves it. but the very worst is Season 1 closing episode "I Dream of Jeannie Cusomano" - not a bad watch but full of inconsistent plot holes;

worst scene - AJ stealing screen time in "Down Neck", but nothing beats that lame car pursuit in "The Pilot";

worst line - "that cocksucking motherfucker mezzo fanucchi" - not to mention that Jon Favreau probably borrowed an out-of-character quote for his last scene, then we see the only time when Chris uses Italian-American slang that way. anyway we're talking one of the worst episodes too, "D-Girl".

My favorite episode is "46 Long," the second episode of Season 1. It just has so many great things--Paulie's line about "this espresso shit," Livia accidentally starting a fire in her house and telling Tony "I'm not dead, unfortunately for some" when he comes to see her and give her flowers, and the funny subplot where AJ's science teacher, Mr. Miller, gets his Saturn stolen and Tony sends Paulie and Big Pussy to get it back. And there's also the scene where Tony screams at someone in the Bing who doesn't know how to use the phone correctly: "You press hold, g*d damnit!"

Great episode!

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 04/22/10 02:18 PM

yes that episode is very good. actually I really love episodes 2 thru 6 from season 1. then you add #12 "Isabella" and that's the reason why the series is so good right off the bat. it's amazing how they present all the characters and make us understand their motivations.

Junior kicks ass throughout the whole season, the Chris/Brenan Fillone storyline is cool and Mikey Palmice was a great character too. plus, Nancy Marchand steals every scene she's in. she reminds so much of my grandmother lol

My favourite episode is probably "University". Its double depiction of both Meadow and Tracee's vulnerabilities is sensitive but unsentimental. It's a heartbreaking episode, beautifully acted.

TonyMosrite, how far are you in the series? I do suggest you watch it all before browsing these threads too much - all of them have a spoiler of some sort, and some of the thread titles alone are spoilers...

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 04/24/10 08:47 PM

I just watched S2, #10, "Bust Out" - very good! - but I caught some random episodes while it was going on and was already a fan so unfortunately I leave the surprise effect regarding the outcome of most things off of my appreciation; I do look away when I see that the conversation heads towards Season 4 and on but I can tell you that you don't miss anything by knowing how the series will end, Ade's fate, etc...

the greatest thing about it is how things are ambiguously left open for interpretation and most times you're so wrapped up into the episode that you can't help but feel like it's a surprise. Tony's hit in "Isabella", for instance - I knew it was coming but it didn't affect the overall impact of the scene. I'm sure you've rewatched it yourself a few times wink

Yeah, that's an excellent episode. It's also one of the absolute darkest in the entire series. If anyone wants a reason to hate Ralphie, he more than provides it for them in "University."

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 04/30/10 12:22 AM

My favorite individual scene is probably in "Boca," where Paulie goes to Coach Hauser's house (Meadow's soccer coach) with two men carrying a gigantic TV set in order to intimidate the coach into not accepting a job offer with another school. I think this was Paulie's best scene in the entire series. His utter confidence and nonchalance is great. When Coach Hauser says "You tell your friends I know all about them," Paulie, without missing a beat, says "If you did, you'd do what they want." Then they just leave the TV on his lawn and walk off. Hauser hysterically protests that he won't be intimidated, all the while seeming quite intimidated indeed.

That's a good scene, Vito. But my favorite scene in "Boca" is when Junior puts the pie in Bobbi's face. That scene was certainly inspired by the grapefruit-in-the-face scene from "The Public Enemy."

that scene is just great. I know it's somewhere around season 3 so I'm getting there (...)

best scene - the golf course scene (...)

I have only watched one episode in the last month - "House Arrest" - but I was watching a few scenes on youtube and just rewatched the golf course sene lol

actually the funniest thing about it is that the doctor feels repulsed by the situation but is so scared - Tony and Furio keep slowly taking steps towards him pushing him into a well - that he finally goes on with it and when he gets his cellphone and starts saying "hello Sheryl? make sure Mr. Soprano is scheduled..." Tony just slaps the cellphone out of his hands into the water. lol lol great scene!

"Boca" also has what's probably my favorite line in the series, Tony saying "Uncle Jun's in the muff...Did I say muff? I meant rough!" Hysterical!

Other great lines include where Tony meets the Hasidic father and son (in "Denial, Anger, Acceptance") and the father introduces the son without saying what the son's name is. Tony says: "Well does he have a name or do we have to give him one?" And when he's taking about Janice and says (I forget the episode), "There are men in the can better looking than my sister." He certainly doesn't mince words, that's for sure!

Carmela had a beautiful line in "Boca," also.

Tony: "Uncle Jun, how was Boca?"

Junior: "Wonderful, I don't go down enough."

Carmela: "That's not what I heard." lol

Yeah, that episode really cleverly shows how hard keeping a secret can be.

yes definitely some great moments in "Boca", all from the Junior storyline. Chianese is just perfect in the role and the guy is priceless. it's so funny when he's in bed with the "pie girl" talking about cunnilingus -

"they think it's a sign of weakness. posibly that you're a fanook";

"they think if you suck pussy, you suck anything"... lol lol

I just love watching these old-school manners. where does that come from? lol I mean come on, don't they see the difference?

also when the FBI busts him at home and he just shouts to himself "ffffuck" like he was just waiting for that. I use that "fuck" all the time, and always remember Junior. when he falls in the shower and yells "sister's cunnt!"... and well, I could go on and on. definitely one of my favorite characters.

A funny moment in the Sopranos is when Tony is having dinner with Carmela, and Tony tells her he has something to confess. Carmela gets her whine ready to throw in Tony's face, but he tells her he is seeing a therapist. Carmela is happy with the news and Tony says something like, "You would have though I was Hannibal Lecture or something." lol

One of my favorite scenes from the series was in the early moments of the first episode. I loved when Tony runs over the gambler, then jumps out of his car and says "hey mister are you okay?" As he's asking, Tony starts beating the tar out of the guy. I thought that was a great summation of what the series was and the kind of character Tony Soprano would become.

My favorite line: "Cunnilingus and psychiatry brought us to this."

Favorite episode: "Guy Walks Into a Psychiatrists Office"

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 10/19/10 03:15 PM

just watched "Proshai, Livushka" and I have to say it gets instant status as one of my favorite episodes ever.

of course that CGI-generated scene with Nancy Marchand scares the hell out of me. I guess they felt like they had to have a last scene with Livia Soprano, but really, it would have worked out for the better if it was a phone conversation or if she was just lying in bed played by a stunt. also of course that wasn't enough to make this episode any less enjoyable.

it's the only one to rival "Pine Barrens" in terms of funny moments -- AJ calling for "grandma?" after his conversation with Meadow about the symbolism of death lol Silvio's line "we all know how much you loved her" lol that extra in the back who returns to the party and sneaks back away after seeing what Janice is up to lol overall the way people reacted to Livia's death was hilarious and especially Janice's reaction was priceless. I'll be suspicious of every person who makes a big scene like that from now on.

Arguably, "Proshai, Livuska" also contains the show's single most unusual moment: Tony opening the mirror door and the viewer seeing Pussy's reflection.

I have to amend my favorite episode to "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano." The scenes in which Tony sees Livia smiling after her "stroke" to the end, where Tony and his family end up at Artie's new restaurant, were awesome. Throw in Mikey Palmice and Jimmy Altieri getting whacked and Artie pointing the shotgun at Tony for the Vessuvio fire, that is one amazing episode.

wow that only goes to show how great this series was.

you and I seem to have total different tastes goombah tongue I didn't like "The Pilot" (especially not the car pursuit scene), I didn't like "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano" very much (it's not a bad watch but I just didn't buy it) and I didn't like "Guy Walks Into a Psychiatrists Office" very much as well wink

No biggie, Tony. That's what is great about this forum to give our opinions. How boring would it be if we all agreed?

I do like "Pine Barrens" as one of my top 5 Sopranos episodes. As was mentioned, the little stuff between Chris & Paulie was awesome (eating the ketchup packets, Paulie's crazy hair, the makeshift shoe). And I agree it was great writing that the characters did talk about the 800 lb. "elephant in the room" after Livia died. Especially Carmella's "cut the shit" attitude toward Janice about Livia.

I've just watched "Whitecaps" again, the Season Four finale. Certainly one of my favourites if not my very favourite.

As a portrait of a marriage it's up there with Bergman; as one of family, it's unmatched.

Gotta love the ending with Dino blasting away on the stereo.

I love it. I think it's the first time I've actually caught the hilarity of playing Dino at top volume, as opposed to some grunge or punk or heavy techno or something.

I think my favourite has to be 'funhouse'.
That episode was huge and I think it has the most kick ass ending, with Tony blowing cigar smoke to Keith Richards and the Stones 'Thru and Thru'.
Absolutely awesome, sends shivers down my spine.

I like the episode; "The Telltale Moozadell". AJ and his pals get busted trashing the school pool because of the leftover pizza he special ordered from a local pizzeria. The pizza parlor guy identified the pie to the cops as a custom order by only one customer - AJ Soprano. Classic Sopranos twist. Ha!

The whole scene with the cops talking to the pizzeria owner was straight out of "Dragnet". Same dialogue type and delivery style.

Episode: College.
It gives a good view point on everything. Family, vendetta, loyalty, crime, murder, guilt, lies, cheating, manipulation, stupidity, drugs, and the ducks.

Scene: At Jackie Aprile's Funeral. Where Tony is standing there as the new boss. And AJ is watching him.

Favorite Line: "I wish the Lord would take me now"

best scene - the golf course scene, Rusty Irish being thrown away - another great episode, S1 #6, "Pax Soprana" - Junior at the top of his game;

best line - "his house looked like shit", or Junior after hearing that Rusty Irish is selling dope to the neighborhood kids: "oh really? what's that smuggling-fuck name?"

november, 5th update:

best episode - "University"; for a long time, all I knew about "The Sopranos" was some of the plots from season 3, and I guess it still affects me as an affective memory.

it took me months to watch the final episodes of S2 (which is great too) but I'm just watching S3 episodes one after another and with the exception of its opener this season is just perfect for me. I really like all the subplots and side characters.

it's especially amazing how they create "stand alone" episodes that are just as great and as important as those that really contribute to the flow of the series. "College" and "Pine Barrens" are the ones that come to mind but season 3 seems to be full of these moments. "Another toothpick", starring Bobby Baccala, Sr. and "Second Opinion" with the doctor who dodges Junior are among my favorite episodes too;

best scene - yeah, the golf course scene with Dr. Kennedy;

best line - "If it's a boy, we'll name him Ralph after me; if it's a girl, we'll name her Tracee after you. that way she can grow on to be a cocksucking slob just like her mother. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKIN' MIND?"

I guess Ralphie is my favorite character. the most layered and surprising and by far the craziest guy on the show. that scene when he just stares and laughs his ass off while Silvio is beating up Tracee is more telling that the one when he actually kills her.

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 11/05/10 10:07 PM

Haha my girlfriend HATES Ralphie! (understandbly) but I loved him!
I love characters who are pricks!

I also loved Richie Aprile (different as he was).

Another quality episode for me is Commendatori, when they go to Napoli.
That is awesome. I love the parts where Paulie is just trying to fit in with the public and that guy accuses Paulie of being from Nato and cutting his ski lift cable! (which was an impromptu/real scene).

Watching Analisa is a pretty good part of the episode too!
Also, the bit where the kid sets of the firecrackers, gets whooped and lectured by Furio and the Police drive off. Tony and Paulie are standing there shocked but their two Cammoristi associates say 'Don't worry, this is Naples university'. Awesome.

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 11/06/10 03:26 AM

yeah Richie April made Season 2, but I believe it's David Proval's acting that made that character so great; Ralphie really is one hell of a development.

"Commendatori" is one of my least favorite episodes, but we agree on Paulie - he is the one great thing about that episode. nodoby is really enjoying the trip except for Paulie who just passes through things on a happy daze. also right after that scene with the firecrackers Tony turns for Paulie searching for a word of wisdom but Paulie replies with another one of my favorite quotes:

"I'll head back to the hotel. I gotta take a wicked shit." lol
Posted By: veneratio

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 11/06/10 03:41 AM

Yeah I agree, he had a real psychopathic/slippery/dangerous streak that Proval did so well, I thought he was so good in it.
H kind of reminded me of Scarface.

Yeah Commendatori probably doesn't have much content but it was the scenery for me, especially in contrast to Jersey.
Haha yeah Paulie was on fire on that trip!

I like it when they are at dinner and he says to Tony about Don Vittorio:
"T, if we give this guy a golf club he'll probably try to f**k it" haha.

I wonder why (I can't remember) why Puss or Sil didn't go?
I guess they had to man the ship back home.
Posted By: Tony Mosrite

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 11/06/10 03:54 AM

Pussy had just came back from his "back treatment in Puerto Rico" and was a strange presence around them. it works as punishment as well since he was still under suspition and was the only one left at NJ with Silvio even being passed over for the much younger Chris.

I guess someone had to be in charge at home and if it wasn't Tony it had to be Silvio.

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 11/06/10 10:43 PM

Yeah, Sil would have been good quality to watch in Italy though!

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 11/07/10 02:48 PM

Now you see, at least Ralphie provided some comedy. Like calling Paulie's mom and the "sucking a cubscout's dick" thing. However, Richie was just an all around ass hole that deserved what he got. I about jumped out of my seat when it happened. Like it was a football game or something.

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 05/06/11 11:03 PM

After seeing season 4 episode "whoever did this", the murder of Ralphie (but especially the aftermath when a doped up Christopher comes and helps Tony getting rid of the body) is definitely one of my favorite scenes. grin

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 05/08/11 07:06 PM

yeah, the intervention scene is just priceless. it only works to humiliate Christopher and the way the mob guys twist the whole thing around was so funny. it highlights very well how self centered they all were - especially Tony of course; on the heels off Pie-O-My's death, he storms out when Ade mentions the dog, as this is the final straw lol lol

(interrupting Ade) - "Wow wow wow wow... you killed a dog???" lol
Posted By: thebarber

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 05/09/11 12:59 AM

lol that was a great scene. The meeting before the intervention was priceless also. When paulie says " great he is taking advice from a 2 time loser" was awesome.

In "Boca" episode when Tony was messing with Uncle June about eating pussy when they were playing golf
"Hey it smells like tuna over here!" and
"Oh, Uncle Junes in the muff...I mean the rough!"

Classic busting balls! LMAO

Also the episode in Italy when Paulie finished banging the whore and he was talking to her but she didn't speak English. So he says under his breath
"Fucking twat!" LOL
I couldn't stop laughing....
Posted By: YukonCorneleone

Re: Favorite Sopranos episode, scene, and line - 07/28/11 03:26 PM

Oh yeah, just remembered something about the "pine Barrens" episode, which is also one of my favorites.

When Tony called Paulie and told him about the Russian guy was a former Russian Special Forces guy and had killed 13 Chechnian rebels by himself, as aludded to in an earlier post, Paulie says, "Why would he kill 13 Czechoslovakians?"
I literally had Dr. Pepper running out of my nose I was laughing so hard. lol

What's interesting is that the prevailing attitudes by most of the characters throughout the series is either "Why me?" or "No good deed goes unpunished"
