Goodfellas appearing in Sopranos - 11/22/01 07:16 AM

There were four to five actors from the GoodFellas
movie who play roles in The Sopranos. Can anyone name them, and was Tony Sirico (Pussy in Sopranos)
one of them?

Actually, Tony Sirico plays Paulie Walnuts on Sopranos, Big Pussy is played by Vincent Pastore. Both of these actors were in Goodfellas, however they were very small parts.

All four were mentioned above - Lorraine Bracco (Dr. Melfi), Michael Imperioli (Chris), Tony Sirico (Paullie Walnuts), and Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy, who like Luca Brasi, sleeps with the fishes).

Oddly enough, there are also four actors who have appeared in a "Godfather" film and "Goodfellas" - Robert DeNiro, Vito Antuofermo, Catherine Scorsese and Frank Sivero.

The guy who played Morrie played the Hasidic Jew in season one who wanted his son in law to agree to a divorce.

Johnny Ola, portrayed by Dominic Chianese, is none other than Uncle Junior in "The Sopranos".

Johnny Ola grew into Uncle Junior
25 years later

Is it me, or did Dominic Chianse (sp?) look a lot taller in GFII than he does on The Sopranos?

Actually, Morrie didn't buy the new Cadillac, he never got his share of the money, but he kept nagging, that is why they killed him. His wife wasn't killed.

Vincent Pastore didn't die in real life, did he? I didn't hear anything about that. M4M, your talking about Big Pussy, right?

It's been a while that i've seen Goodfellas but i'm sure Morrie and his wife were found by a bunch of kids in a pink cadillac whilst the piano music from the end of Claptons 'Layla' was played. Goodfellas had some great songs in it. Was it released as a soundtrack, does anyone know? If so, who and what was on it?

Also whilst we're on Sopranos, who did the theme for that? I hated the song at first but after a few months of watching the show it really grows on you.

Vincent Pastore is alive and well. His character of Big Pussy was killed off at the end of Season II.

Alabama 3 sings the theme song ("Woke Up This Morning")

Woke Up This Morning

You woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun,
Mama always said you'd be
The Chosen One.
She said: You're one in a million
You've got to burn to shine,
But you were born under a bad sign,
With a blue moon in your eyes.

You woke up this morning
All the love has gone,
Your Papa never told you
About right and wrong.

But you're looking good, baby,
I believe you're feeling fine,(shame about it),
Born under a bad sign
With a blue moon in your eyes.

You woke up this morning
The world turned upside down,
Thing's ain't been the same
Since the Blues walked into town.

But you're one in a million
You've got that shotgun shine.
Born under a bad sign,
With a blue moon in your eyes.

When you woke up this morning,
When you woke up this morning,
When you woke up this morning,
Mama said you'd be the Chosen One.

When you woke up this morning,
When you woke up this morning,
When you woke up this morning,
You got yourself a gun.

No, he did buy a pink cadillac, right after the heist, when Jimmy had told everyone not to buy anything. But, Morrie bought it anyway and was killed. I believe he and a couple of other guys(cant remember who) got in his car and then the one seated behind him stabbed him in the back of the head with an icepick or something like that. Then that night his wife called Henry and told him she knew somethimg was wrong because Morrie had never stayed out all night without calling. And yes, some kids did find the car with the end of "Layla" playing.

Re: Goodfellas appearing in Sopranos - 12/22/01 11:32 AM

The definitive answers, from someone who's seen the movie countless times and knows these kind of things:

Morrie the wig salesman was indeed killed, but it was after Jimmy (DeNiro) decided to not kill him that same night. Tommy (Peschi) killed him because he wouldn't shut up. The guy killed with his wife in the pink caddy that the kids found was named Johnny Roastbeef. Morrie never got his share in the first place. The other bodies found during this time were Frankie Carbone (in the meat truck), and Frenchy was in the garbage truck.

Vincent Pastore (Pussy) was in the movie, he was the guy with the coatrack.

And, if you look a little hard, the Goodfellas soundtrack is still in stores. It's only about 40 minutes, and it's missing some songs, but it's worth buying.

How can I argue with that? Thanks Juche, it all comes back to me clearly now that you say it.

Re: Goodfellas appearing in Sopranos - 12/22/01 04:15 PM

Thank you Juche for backing up what I said. I was just about to put the movie in because I couldn't remember Johnny Roastbeef's name. I knew it wasn't Morrie that was killed in the Pink Cadillac, because he never got his money, like I said before.

PS- Where are you from in Ohio?
