Pacino in GF IV?

Pacino in GF IV? - 09/08/04 05:10 PM

Hey everyone, though I've only posted once or twice, I've been sort of a ghost on the board for some time now. I'm a huge fan of gangster flicks and love to interact with others who share my passion (obsession?). Anyway, that said, I have a question regarding the possible fourth Godfather film. Since the likely plot will, in one way or another, detail Vincent's rise to power, is it possible for Michael to share the screen? Essentially, Al Pacino now looks like he did in GF III, as most of the age he showed in that film was make-up. Now that Pacino is showing that age realistically, could he not be featured in the film? I'm assuming the proposed film would take place between Mary's death and Michael's own demise in Sicily. Any thoughts on this?

Yeah I've gotta thought. Stick a fork in the franchise, it's DONE! Leave it alone Hollyweird! Stop making these crappy sequels/prequels & get a new f**king idea! Sorry dude, I'm not yelling at you, just expressing my feelings.

Thanks for that valuable insight. Anybody have a real response to my "hypothetical" question?

Thats one of the ideas floating around, yeah.Have Michael be sort of a consigliere to Vincent, intercut with his father(Sonny)learning the business in "the good ol' days" I think there is a big possibility a script could be written to include Pacino, but I agree with Irish-1 million to 1 they WILL fuck up GF4 way more than you could possibly imagine if they decide to go ahead with it.

I don't think there could be a successful Godfather film without Pacino. They should either work him in somehow or forget the whole thing. A whole movie with Garcia as the main role would never survive the Godfather critics. Garcia is okay, no where near as good as Pacino.

just the single idea of having a Part IV made already makes me angry, and all these ideas make it all worse. not that they are bad ideas, but I just don't see none of the working.
this one about an intercut between Vincent and Sonny is just the exact same thing from Part II, and since one of the greatest things about the Godfather films is how original they are, it would be a shit, in my humble opinion.
and making a Part IV withouth Al Pacino sounds like an absurd to me.

The Michael Corleone character dies at the end of GFIII so how would it be possible for him to be in the hypothetical GFIV.... Backstory? GF 1,2, & 3 all over again? Come on.. confused

Part III didn't say what year he died (the bonus disc says 1997), so it wouldn't be hard to bring Michael back.

If Michael was in Part IV it would be the time before he dies. There's roughly 15-20 years from the opera to the time he dies at the end of Part III.

And I wouldn't count on Michael wanting to have anything to do with the business after seeing Mary killed before him and losing Kay again.

Vincent could want to have him as consigliere, but I would think that Michael would either return to Sicily and live out his days there, or never go back to America and live his final days as a hermit in Sicily.

Part IV would be a stretch and become too much like the Sopranos... I am against it, but would still go see it if they made one.

Why wouuld that change him as opposed to having his wife (Appolonia) and brother killed? He didn't leave when that happenend, he was just pulled in deeper.

GF III is not going to be rewritten.

It is what it is.

If there is a GF IV, it will be written around the plot points carried over from I, II and III.

The main reason GF3 wasnt all thet great is that it was made in a diffrent era. The diffrence between GF2 and 3 was 16 years, If one was made in 2005, the diffrence would be 15 years from Part 3. One big reason why 4 should not be made.

Yes,but when he lost his brother Sonny, it was part of the business that his brother Sonny was involved in. When he lost Appolonia, it definately hurt him, but this was his wife for a very short time, not that it would make it easier for him, but she was not his blood. But with his daughter Mary, this was his blood, his pride and joy and a huge part of him died when she died. I don't know if you have any children, but I'll tell you this, being a father, when I watch that scene, I can really feel Michael's inner PAIN as he silently screams when realizing that his daughter had been killed as a result of his business. Mary's death is definately the end for Michael. It just ripped his soul out and destroyed him as a man.

Lets face it. Pacino doesn't need the role after eveything he has already done in his career.

Every other actor who tries to fill his shoes will be attacked by every anal Godfather fan that has ever seen the film.
In as much as I love these films, even I worry about what they plan on putting out next if anything. #3 took be down some
Hell, we all have our thoughts on how the story should have been done, what could have made it better and where it should be heading.

there is absolutely no reason why a GF4 should be made, the godfather trilogy is known because its a TRILOGY, like star wars. if another was to be made then what would that make it? a Quadrilogy!!!! no one likes the sound of that

True, but Star Wars was supposed to be a "trilogy of trilogies".. so Godfather could be that (Godfather IX, anyone? lol).. not that I'm condoning that because it would get to be pretty stupid after part 4.
