Is it still 1959 at the end when he dies? Or 1960?

"I'm a retired investor, living on a pension... I came home to vote in the Presidential election, because they wouldn't give me an absentee ballot..."

These were Roth's last words, and place him squarely in late 1960.

I always thought it was 59

As he stated, is was not issued an absentee ballot to vote in the 1960 presidential election, so he returned to the US to vote in that election.
