"unless I'm very wrong, they're already dead..." - 12/13/10 01:23 AM

...and they were, too. The near-assassins were found dead in the water. Michael told Tom, prior to the discovery of the "hitmen from New York" (what, they could tell by their clothes or something?), that they would be killed by the traitor of the family.

The traitor turned out to be Freddie Corleone.

Did Freddie Corleone kill those guys?!

Re: "unless I'm very wrong, they're already dead..." - 12/13/10 07:03 AM

no.....there were other turncoats in Mike's security team

the man/men who actually pulled the triggers on Mike and family were as good as dead once they shot..

had mike died....they'd be shot
mike survived and they got shot

the other turncoats HAD to kill those guys regardless to protect themselves....

Then I assume Freddie had no idea who those "turn-coats" were. After Freddie was "assassinated" (was he famous enough to be assassinated, or was he simply executed/murdered), I suppose those turn-coats still existed within the Corleone Family?

Unless Fredo was a crouching moron, hidden bada$$ I don't see him being able to quickly and quietly take out two killers all by himself.

Had he done so, he'd have been one helluva gangster.

Fredo was such a pacifist, maybe he was left at the door by gypsies like his mother told him.

Who opened the drapes inside Michael's bedroom? Fredo? If it was Fredo, then how could he possibly think he was lied to?! That is to say, if he was instructed to open the drapes, what the hell did Fredo think he was doing that for?!

There's no way to forgive that, is there? If Fredo was that deep into it, there's no way Michael could have gotten over it. Brother or no brother. That showed complete disloyalty.

I think that question will probabally go unanswered for a while.

I have to agree he knew what he was doing he might have been upset with his family, but that does not mean try to kill them because if caught you know what will happen. What an idiot.

"Who killed the Tahoe shooters?" is probably the longest-running unanswered question on this board.

Fredo was used plain and simple. people are making Fredo out to be a monster or something. Michael was the real psychopath not Fredo. However, Fredo was in the mafia and i guess he should of known to be careful. However, Its pretty evident that Fredo didn't know there was gonna be a hit.

Yeah, but how could Michael know that for sure?

Someone probably told the housekeeper to stay out of the room, hence, curtains left open. Of course we never see a housekeeper, but folks with that kind of money always have a housekeeper, who is probably the one who closes the curtains when night falls.

My guess is that since the shooters were from NY, they were part of Pentangeli's crew. But Michael was smart enough to guess that Pentangeli was being set up as the fall-guy for the hit all along.

Notice too how close Freddy was with Frank P. in the beginning of the day, which indicates that he probably held some sway with Pentangeli's people.

Who killed the hitmen out of NY?

Cicci.

Notice too how Cicci rolls over on the family later in the hearings.

It's Coppola's script, isn't it? Coppola's idea, Coppola's grand plan……..so how come he's never told us who the shooters were who killed the shooters?!
