Was it Oscar Wilde who said once: "I can resist anything but temptation"?

He was right. In a few days from now I'm going to become a proud DVD Collection owner.

What else could I do? A human is so weak, and the sins are so strong.

Now I'd ask you to advise me on the best way of enjoying the DVD set: lighting, drinks, meal, overall setting, etc.

Depends who your watching the collection with.

Intimate moment with the missus? A bottle of wine will compliment the film, dim lights down and definately shut the curtains. A meal would go well with it aswell. Presentation is the key, Whatever it is, sliced peices of lemon, corriander neatly placed upon your chosen meal will put a smile on your face and give yourself a sense of pride whilst sitting down to watch your favourite films.

On your own? Do what the hell you want, watch it in your underwear, whatever, stuff your face with anything you can get your hands on. Again, close curtains.

With a few lads? A crate of beer and snacks, pringles etc. Remember to comment on each others passing of wind with enthusiasm. Scratch private parts frequently and burp in competition with each other.

That first scenario of Turi's sounds pretty good. Unfortunately, I can't ever find anyone of either gender to sit through the whole thing with me. I have sat through countless times by myself and my only rule is "No Talking" to me while it is on. No phone, no doorbell, no requests for domestic favors (ie: honey, can you make me a sandwich? etc..)

So yeah, scenario #2 : underwear and stuffing my face works for me.

Don't bother to watch w/ friends, unless you're sure they all appreciate it in the same way you do. Otherwise, you will end up giving a party when you would rather be enjoying the films. Even worse, you might be innundated w/ amatuer questions/comments ("duh....why didn't Fredo help his father instead of just crying...???).

Do yourself a favor. Park it on the couch...in your undies w/ the snacks of your choice, all by your lonesome...is the way to go.

Don't let anyone in to spoil your fun.

take your favorite comfort food (chocolate, pizza, whatever) and a liberal amount of your favortie beverage. go to the bathroom beforehand. stretch out on the coach and pop them in. if you're lucky, you'll have enough food to last you a full marathon.

Only advice I can give you, Alexander, is to make time to see one movie at a time all the way through, with no interruptions, so you can really and thoroughly appreciate the quality of the DVD and perhaps catch details that you might have missed earlier due to poorer quality of the VHS set.

i usually watch this by myself to get more focus on the story. and most of my friends are not into this kind of movies. . .

Wheeee!!! It's coming any time now.

Thanks for tons of valuable advice, lads & lassies. I'll be watching those extra widescreen wings and shall forget for a moment about the cut heads and legs (the quality of the PAL VHS 25th anniversary set is superb as long as VHS go, by the way).

Now I've got two nice solid leather armchairs that look pretty much like that one Mike was sitting in while Connie was talking about sweet Fredo... One for me, one for a handpicked nontalkative appreciating partner... Lots of drinks and snacks... Dimmed lights... No interruptions...

And curtains shut. Of course.

Get a group of friends together that know and appreciate the films (not neccesarily fanatics, but not people who will chatter away either). Get a pile of beer, snacks etc adn watch the whoel triology then the deleted scenes in order with only bathroom breaks between films. A big bowl of pasta goes down well 1/2 way through also.

A great way to spend 11 odd hours.

Sit or lay on the couch (preferrably in your
underwear), have your favorite snacks and beverage nearby, as well as a pee-jug, and hit the remote. Don't get up unless Courtney Cox enters the room nude (and even then, tell her to wait until the scene you're watching is over)!

make sure u got lots of cheetos, and no domestic beer, get the italian stuff, i recommend not watching with friends cuz they wont appreciate it as much and end up talking as i tried to do. if anyone interrupts get ur luca brasi on em and CLOSE THE DRAPES is a MUST!! IF and ONLY if ur bladder is gunna burst go to the bathroom otherwise wait till its over...and jennifer aniston is finer than courtney cox! but i'd bang either and so should u, and if someone calls u (sonny?) just pause for a second and say ull be right there, then continue banging!
