I've come to a decision..

I'm going to get the Trilogy on DVD tomorrow. I'm sick of having to hook up the VCR everytime I want to watch The Godfather, not to mention rewinding the tapes everytime.

It's really come down in price. I bought it for $69 two years ago, but now you can get it in the $45-$50 range . The bonus disk is worth every penny, let alone the films themselves.

I'm just dreaming about it yet.

I almost bought The Trilogy last Sunday...saw it in Target for $54.99.

Since I couldn't stand to spend that much just yet on, a) 2 films that I can wait to see when they're next on tv; b) one film I never liked and can't picture myself ever sitting through; and c) extras that while they're fun I can live without at this point in time....I decided against it and put the box set down.

However, I did see and buy The Johnny Carson Collection for fourteen dollars less!! Something that I know I'll enjoy and that I'd NEVER see on television.

The Godfather Trilogy won't go anywhere...I'm sure I'll get it someday (maybe even for less than $50).

It is $51.99 at Best Buy. I got a $100 dollar gift card for Christmas, so I just wanted to make sure I was making the right choice.

The DVD version is prohibitively expensive in India. They released a VCD version of the trilogy for Asia, which I bought. But I was disappointed to not find any extras and deleted scenes. Other than the movies , it had one small bit of interview, where Puzo talks about the disagreement with FFC over Fredo murder. And also FFC, Talia and Pacino talking about GF2 and GF3. But these were such small clips, I am not happy with it. Some day (and the day may never come ) I will have enough money to buy a dvd set.

Don C...the extra footage is what ALMOST got me to make the purchase! Those words jumped out at me right off the box. But still, it was the price and timing that helped in making the final decision.

Even with the existence of GFIII which I probably won't ever watch...I do feel it'll be a better investment to eventually own the trilogy than the individual films separately. So maybe in a few months, after my tax refund comes through...!!!

Apple, I just wanted to tell you how pleasant it is to read such words not only from myself!

It's worth the investment. I bought it when it was still $84.99, and I questioned my reasoning, but once I popped in GFII for the first time, I realized then that I woulda payed $300 for this set if I had to.

BTW...
I like GFIII. Yes, the story has more holes in it than a street in Orange County, CA, and yes, Sophia Coppola was terrible, but overall, I think its a good film. And you gotta admit, it was among the better films that game out that year. Well ok, you don't gotta admit that, but whatever, I like it.

Apple-If you buy the box set, prehaps you will see that FREDO REALLY DID KNOW!!!!!!
