here is the new years eve special that he put out this year. not quite as funny as some of his old material, but its hard to top the original, but he did throw in one of his classics! just alot of crude humor, worth a watch if you're into that kind of thing lol

I watched the first 30 minutes and don't think he's funny at all. It maybe that i'm not from the US or NY where he's clearly from.

the thing about dice is, when he first came around it was just such a shock to the system, i'm sure some of our older posters can attest to that! stand up comedy is one of the hardest performance arts to have longevity with, so the fact that he's still here 17 years later says alot! he sold out MSG 2 nights in a row back then, which is unheard of for someone in his proffesion. alot of people enjoy the nostalgia of his act, myself included! here is a clip of him being funny wink

More than 17 years, FF. Clay really hit the big time (albeit briefly) in 1989-1990. That was the year of his breakout "Young Comedians" special on HBO. Dom Irrera and Tim Allen were in that same show. It was a classic. I remember it like yesterday.

Of course Allen went on to "Home Improvement" and the "Santa Clause" films, and Dice kept a cult following for awhile. But Irrera never really realized his full potential. And I actually thought his act was the funniest back then.

yeah, you're right, i think i've had the 17 year # floating in my head for some reason. dom irrera is pretty good, but stand up is so subjective that there is no "one size fits all" formula. dice doesn't get along with dom at all, and there have been more than a few instances where ireera was luckey to not get his ass kicked according to many sources, seems like dom has held a weird grudge against him on account of dice blowing up, while dom has struggled to get to the respectable place where he is today.

I completely agree with you then as you said 17 years ago he would've been a shock to the system. The only reason i think he's quite timid in the clip you showed me is because of comedians like Frankie Boyle. He's hilarious imo but very dark - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4msv1qwoawI

Clay had his 15 minutes of fame. He WAS funny when he first hit big but that kind of humor lasts for a short time. Since that was his only "act" it wore thin with me and I have no interest in seeing him anymore.

Is that one where at the beginning he is talking about the girl in the front row sitting with her legs wide open. She was a set up. He performed at cyclone stadium here in Brooklyn. My son went to it he told me about the girl at that performance.

The first time I saw him was in a tv show called Crime Story in the 80s. He was pretty good in that no jokes from him in that one.

That's pretty much how I feel. The rhymes, the driving gloves, the cigarette. It was funny at first, but it wore thin with me as well. I thought Clay to be a one trick pony. But to each his own.

The poems are funny, otherwise he comes across to me as very sleazy.
