....THE DARK SHADOWS OF THE MOB

Here’s another question relating to New York mob guys who sported nicknames with “Black” in them. For “round two” of our little game, we ask…

“Which of the following five reputed mafiosi was NOT connected to New York City’s Joseph Colombo Family?”

A) Tony Black

B) Nicky Black

C) Black Mike

D) Black Sam

E) Joe Black

Have at it guys! Let's see who can decipher this.

Yes, Butchie. Theres been lots of guys from different crews, from all over the country, who sometimes shared similar nicknames. But we're only speaking about New York.

It’s a little Tricky but your saying with the Black nickname so I would have to go with Tony Black Furino from the Bonannos and I’m not sure why Big Mike is there but I know it’s 1 multiple choice answer and I’m gonna give that to Genovese Consigliere Big Mike Miranda

Just chose the one name, of the five, who you believe was NOT affiliated with the Colombo crew.

So you picked - "Tony Black" - is that right? Thats a respectable choice, and I can understand why. Because of Anthony "Tony Black" Furino. Good man!

BTW: It doesn't say "Big Mike," it says "Black Mike"

THE DARK SHADOWS OF THE MOB

The "original" question was.... “Which of the following five reputed mafiosi was NOT connected to New York City’s Joseph Colombo Family?”

A) Tony Black
B) Nicky Black
C) Black Mike
D) Black Sam
E) Joe Black
-

AND THE CORRECTS ANSWER is…

A) Tony Black, was Anthony Induisi (Colombo)

B) Nicky Black, was Nicholas Grancio (Colombo)

C) Black Mike, was Michael Galgano (Gambino) ****

D) Black Sam, was Rosario Nastasa (Colombo)

E) Joe Black, was Joseph Gorgone (Colombo)

So there you have it folks. The correct answer to the question, “Which guy was NOT connected to the Colombo Family is Michael (Black Mike) Galgano, who was a longtime veteran soldier of the Carlo Gambino Family’s Bronx faction.

Hey Butchie, that's all anyone can do, right? Is to take their best shot.

And truthfully, there were, and are, so many guys around the NY/NJ crews, thousands of them, that nobody can be expected to know the names of every single guy out there...still, thanks for playing along.

PS: I'll be putting up another "color" quiz down the pike a bit. So you'll have another shot at it.

Thats true, TD. Because sometimes the color red lent to the physical description of them. They often had lighter, sometimes red-ruddy complexion, red hair, and so forth, etc. Same with Irish hoodlums who had that complexion.

And, of course, other times, it was to describe their "stock in trade" - murder!
