How accurate is Boss of Bosses? + other books - 11/27/22 07:42 AM

I’ve heard that it’s accurate; and I’ve heard that it’s a load of shit.

For example, I’ve heard that the account given in the book of how they put the bug in Paul’s house = bs

The “taking Paul out for a sandwich” after busting him seems fishy to me, but a lot of what he said sounds like he could’ve said it

What about the excerpts of conversations between Paul, Piney and Paul and Gallo seem legit but are they?

And what about these books:

Mafia Dynasty

Mob Star by Capeci and Mustaine

The fucking fbi. In one of the A&E documentaries, they say they knocked out the Dobermans with a steak and put the bugs in. Another time they say that they made something go wrong with cable and posed as a cable guy with a bodyguard (maybe Bilotti) hovering over them while they pretended to fix the cable but were really placing a bug. Bunch of liars. After all of that time and money they get him on nothing and there is still a Gambino family.

That sums up the credibility of the book.

Mr. Cooper, those were A&E episodes I watched when I was a kid. The cable bug might have been useless and they had to do the Doberman thing to get access to the kitchen. I recall them saying something along the lines that they really didn't get anything on the bugs except recipes. That was a long time ago. But the two scenarios of placing the bugs seems like I heard it five minutes ago.

But here’s the thing…outside of the iffy wiretap story…?

What about the transcripts included?

I don't know how accurate they are, but I know they had to have edited the heck out of them, and played only what they liked for us to hear. They were breaking the FBI rules by publishing the book, and by leaking the transcripts of non-mafia information such as Paul having an affair. The FBI and Justice Department have those rules, but break then on a regular basis. Pistone did great work, but he had to resign to write the book he wrote, same for all the others.

You're absolutely right....They contradict themselves left and right, but are found credible in every case they testify in...

The biggest laugh is they don't listen to personal stuff...Not only did listen everything personal, they wrote a book about and embarrassed his family with personal information from the bugs, and they were never punished...they profited big time...

In my opinion, they were just as bad as the gangsters...They were thinking about making money for themselves the whole time
