Bobby Manna”s rise to power - 10/19/22 08:35 AM

I have a question;

I was wondering when did Chin and Bobby Manna become close and what was their relationship like?? Manna is one of the last guys alive that was Made in the 1950’s.

When did Manna become a captain?? No-one ever mentions him being a captain at some point before becoming Consigliere; Was he a captain under Vito Genovese; Lombardo or Gigante?? Would love an answer to this.

Also..

How many crews did Manna supervise as Consigliere? This is very rare for someone in his position.

Is it possible he may have been one of the most powerful Consigliere’s in the history of LCN?

Would love some responses!

From what I understand Manna was in Gigante crew and maybe become capo in 1978 and made consigliere in 1981 and was gave him the control on the NJ 4 crews.

@Furio

So he (Manna) most likely became a captain in 1978?

This would have been while Phil Lombardo/Salerno and Tieri were running the family?

Yes. He was in Eboli crew and after in Gigante crew,so was made capo by Gigante because he trusted him.

@Furio

Gigante didn’t become boss until 1981.

You said that Manna was a captain around 1978 (or so) so Lombardo/Tieri/Salerno had to have made the decision to give him (Manna) a crew. Gigante was also a captain right?? He couldn’t have made that decision.

Lombardo was still running the family during that time.

I think Eboli was reported to have ben acting boss for a while. Not saying it's the truth, there are so many rumors and theories out there.

@Jace

I believe that to be true; but I’m not sure how much power (Eboli) had.

The Genovese’s had to many heavyweights around the time Eboli was acting boss.

Salerno/Lombardo/Tieri/Miranda/Catena…. Some other guys….

All I know..is that Manna was powerful enough 2 engage the triad of ALL the Genovese hierarchy to seep their claws into the Phila. family hence by pronouncing Little Nicky Boss ..by inticing him into what he said "Uno Famiglia"..2 a question that Manna asked him about the future of the Philly family if something were drastic 2 happen....Thus ...giving a piece of the new Atlantic City casinos & such a piece of the action....when Scarfo was in La Tuna from '82 to '84 ..Manna communed w/ Phil L. on a regulated basis on what the f...ck was New York had in mind 4 their moves..Manna was the man & go between 4 the commision & Atlantic City back in those days...
