New England Family Innocent Woman Hit 1984 - 08/08/21 03:34 AM

Came across this is anyone has any background on it....

Among the many tapes dealing with killings that have been played at the Angiulo trial is one in which Ilario Zannino, an Angiulo lieutenant, is heard telling two colleagues, ''We clipped Barboza.'' Zannino is believed to be referring to Joseph (Barboza) Baron, a mob enforcer who turned government witness and was shot to death in San Francisco in 1976.

During another recorded conversation, Angiulo himself discusses with Zannino the possibility of killing the girlfriend of a gang member. The girlfriend had told the mother of a stabbing victim that another of Anguilo`s underlings was the assailant.

''It has come to the point we got to do something about it,'' Angiulo said. ''Do you want me to . . .''

''Kill her,'' Zannino suggested.

''Kill her,'' Angiulo agreed.

Three years after that discussion, in March, 1984 a gunman wearing a ski mask fired three shots at the woman, Eva McDonough, in a North End club. She was not injured seriously.

3 years, that's a long-time to be sitting on someone. I bet these incidents were not even related.

"But McDonough later said Angiulo had nothing to do with the attempt on her life at One If By Land. In a 1990 interview with the Boston Herald, she said a Medford drug dealer was the one who shot at her that fateful night. He was killed a week after the bar shooting.

The Globe reported that McDonough had been known in underworld circles since she started dating reputed Mafia member Nicky Giso in the 1970s.

In 1987, when she was charged with breaking into several homes and stealing $80,000 of jewelry from a hotel, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office called her a “one woman crime wave.” She was subsequently sentenced to several years in prison at MCI-Framingham."

Safe to say that you can drop 'innocent' from the thread title. Saved by a cowboy hat. He put three bullets into the hat but missed her head.
