Interesting story about the murder of Caesar Vitale and his wife Patti seven months later Michael Papa and his wife were murdered as well.

States that Vitale and Papa were partners in the cocaine business.

This story needs more attention. Started out in Joe Colombo sons orbit. Decade or two later him and his wife get whacked out in Florida over a drug deal

As Colonel stated, Vitale started out as an organizer or some such all position with the IACRL in Brooklyn. He was also personal friends with Colombo's sons. At some point he migrated down to S. Florida where I think he got involved with decorating or something like that. And yes he and his wife were found slaughtered in a sprawling home they had down there.

I wrote this before I read your article. The way the were killed speaks to me that it was Colombians rather than Italians who whacked them, but who really knows. anything's possible.

Good article

I'm leaning to it also being the Colombians how they were savagely murdered. Do you think it's possible that since Papa and Vitale were partners this same group went after them as well? I know this is purely speculation.

Cubans with a Colombo associate as ring leader. Colombo, Lucchese, Bonanno and one other family had a meeting about missing shipments, and Caesar Vitale, and a New York based associate were brought up. Vitale was giving a green light with Anthony Induas giving the order.

Just read the article. Anthony Induisi did give the order. Michael Papa was the associate in New York City. It was drug related, and Vitale and Papa were thought to have ripped off the mobsters. I honestly think Carmine Persico ok'd the hit in order to weaken the Colombo brothers. Around 1500 left from the estate after the murders, there were probably a couple of secret deposit boxes under a different name. The executive house fiasco did not sit well with many in the Colombo family, so the missing narcotics was an excuse to finally kill Vitale. The fact that there was no force entry means Vitale knew at least one of the people and let them in.

Giacomo, I did read that about Indusi but it couldn't be proven, the same with Hubert Christie, who said he killed the Vitale's.

We do know Vitale was doing shady shit and what two suitcases of drugs (800k worth)were not accounted for and he did piss the Colombo's off.

Where do you get this stuff from, I have looked and found nothing to back it up. Michael Papa may have been killed in a robbery attempt for all we know, and The Columbo's, Lucchese and Bonanno all meeting with Cubans sounds like fantasy. This is way over the top.

No, the Cubans were with the Colombo associate in the hit. They weren't consulted with the other families, they were with the associate.

Vitale went to South Florida in the mid 70s. Mingled with the Colombo Florida crew. Was into the drug business. I don't think it was a Columbian drug hit. It has all the earmarks of a Little Dom Cataldo hit. Shot him ànd his wife with a .380 and then stabbed and slit their throats. iMO Persico ordered it and Dom Cataldo carried out the hit. His wife just happened to be wrong place wrong time and Dom wanted to make It look like a drug cartel hit.

Its funny you should say that Reb. Dom is dead now so what I say here doesn't really matter. I cannot hurt him. But Dom was well known for making regular trips down to South Florida to rip off drug stashes while he hung around with all his friends for a week or so.

I'm not sure if Dom was on the street in 1982, he may have been in the can. But that was his thing.

Now, would he have clipped Vitale who I "think" was in good graces with everybody, No!... but who really knows what they thought of Vitale then. Anthony and Joey Colombo were still in the borgata and I knew that caesar had been close to them at one time. But questions remain.

I can tell you that I do not believe (even for one second) that Colombians did it. And there is NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER to Mikey Papa's hit in Queens, or any other NY mob hit. The Vitale hit is a separate incident.

In those days NYC and S.FL were the Wild West. Shit popping off daily

LOL you really are delusional “what you say here can’t hurt anyone” like you would be pulled into court as a witness by the FBI hahaha. You really do live in a fantasy world in your own mind. Your a legend in your own mind. Words can’t convey how funny this is but your fucking pitiful I’m sorry....haha. Great morning laugh. Hahaha. Your some fake mob blogger ,who regurgitates stories from the old NY Times archives and calls them “exposes”. You can’t hurt anyone cause your words mean nothing to no one becuase your nothing and no one..

The drug cartels were peaking at that time in that area, in fact right where he lived. I like you as a poster and often am in agreement with you, but in this case, your opinion Persico ordered it a big assumption.

I knew Caesar and his wife. They were murdered and given the “Columbian necktie” as a warning to others, or as a signature. Caesar was heavily involved in the decorating of the Sunrise Musical Theater, west of Ft. Lauderdale and Plantation. As I recall, he was involved with the restaurants at that complex, as well. He was supposed to have gone straight years prior, as we were told back then.
