The enigma of Worcester, MA - Capo Frank Iaconi - 02/27/21 10:48 AM

One of the most enjoyably and challenging exposes' I've ever written was the one that I did on the Worcester, Massachusetts "regime" of the Genovese Family.

Capo Francesco (Frankie I) Iaconi was a total underworld enigma in my opinion. One of the most capable leaders the Genovese borgata ever had, but at the same time, a loving father to his four children, and a wonderful husband to his wife.

I think you guys are gonna really enjoy this one. It is the most compressive and complete story ever written about this crew of mafiosi (If I do say so myself). As you can tell, I'm kinda proud of this one in particular. Lol

What I really liked about Iaconi was that he kept violence and killings to near zero during his tenure, which exceeded 3 decades. The City of Worcester worked like a well-oiled money machine for the borgata, yet attracted no attention or problems over the years.

To me? THATS a capo! A smart, smart man.

He became a millionaire many times over. And ran a quiet, profitable regime. Quite the accomplishment I'd say.

Just like Skyball" Scibelli in Springfield and Mastrototaro did OK following in Iaconi's footsteps

His son Chester was involved with pigeon racing many years ago. My understanding was that he with Raymond, not NY

So you're saying the sons are with NE? Or under the Genovese? I was always under the impression that they were straightened out by their father and with his crew.

In fact, if anything, There was talk that Patriarca had actually started his career out under Iaconi before migrating to Providence

I'd love to see a future story on Vic Cotroni and his brothers, how they got involved with Lilo, and their decline once the Rizzutos took over the Bonannos' Montreal Regime.

I wonder if the Cotroni name can make a comeback now, especially with the rise of the Calabrians. They're no longer subservient to the Sicilians.

nop they were inducted into the new england family. there a old file it states ray held a induction ceromy in 1956 at some social club in worcester inducts 6 guys all proposed members in frank iaconis crew. ray as a favor to the father who is locked up at the time for tax stuff transfer 4 of the guys to the genovese family. the scibelli brothers, pinky p and carlo m. te other 2 are blacked out. im assuming its the sons i forgot how i found that. but the sons also asked ray for permission to kill gerry anguilo in the 60tys over a remark he made in a golf game. he said no but gerrys car was riddle with bullets in the north end. i think the father might have asked ray to keep his sons in his family who knows.

Well, I do think that Raymond and Frank had a long relationship, and I'm sure Ray extended whatever courtesy was needed of him.

when ray was tapped to be boss in 1954 frank iaconi gave him so special gold watch. the bosses from nyc went to a horse stable in framingham ma and held some type of ceromony when ray becomes boss. its a small town between boston and worcester. think fat tony salerno had a stake in the horse farm
