Before Paul became the Boss (while still being both Acting Boss and then Underboss in the last year of Carlo's life), Paul was a Captain.

Is it known for certain who the Soldiers and Associates of his crew were in the 1960s and 1970s?

In the movie "Boss of Bosses" they depicted Castellano having nightmares about being taught how to muscle/rough-up someone by Vito Genovese
I know its a movie but what the opinion on this
A.) Was Genovese supposed to be a substitute for Albert Anastasia?
B.) Was Gambino close to Genovese in his earlier years?
C.) Any info on Castellano being involved in hits (either participating or arranging) in the 40s/50s?

The only two guys I can think of are Nino Gaggi and Greg dePalma.

Nino Gaggi was his main guy. He replaced Big Paul as capo when Castellano got the top job.

Then, Greg dePalma became the capo of this crew after Gaggi.

When you think abou it, it was such an ecclectic crew. You had Big Paul and his poultry business, Nino Gaggi and his guy Roy De Meo robbing and killing everything on sight, and Greg dePalma with his show business connections.

From Murder Machine:
"Most of the soldiers formerly under Paul's command were not very active, however. Most were getting on in years. With his blood relationship to Carlo, and the steady income from his meat business and loanshark book, Paul never needed a strong crew - so his men, apart from Nino, ran errands, smoked cigars, and contented themselves with a little bookmaking and loansharking."
