Anastasia, Galante, Bruno,Castellano - 11/28/19 06:28 PM

The mob bosses I mentioned i had in the title all met violent demises. Mob hits that are still talked about today.
At the time of their deaths, did those bosses feel totally secure in their positions or did they have a inkling
That they were being plotted against ?
I think Big Paul was facing a trial in 1986 and such...

Paul; I don't think so.... He was tooo naive and dealing with his trial..

Galante; He should have felt there was going to be some resistance towards him; He was Acting Boss under Phil Rastelli (People say he grabbed power but I believe he was named Acting Boss by Phil). He was tooo cocky...

Bruno; Not sure.... Think he felt he wouldn't be whacked. His downfall was the The Cherry Hill Gambino's. He was allowing them to deal drugs on his turf. He didn't allow his own family to deal it.... Had Anthony Caponigro who I believe was a drug dealer getting fed up. Anyone know those two relationship?

Anastasia; I have no idea...

Anastasia felt no one would touch him as he had Frank Costello until he stepped down, Joe Bonanno, and Joe Profaci on his side if anyone came before the commission asking permission and giving evidence to kill him, despite the fact that Anastasia did not go to the commission to get permission to kill Vincent Mangano.

Galante was arrogant and had big balls, he was a force to be reckoned with. He figured that because he recruited a good size crew of Zips to the Family, he felt he was protected among those closest to him, and from the families back in Sicily.

Bruno did not even think his life was endanger cause he had ties with both Castellano, Decavalcante, Tony Ducks through New Jersey and many of his men seemed happy and content.

Castellano had his own problems and really wasn't thinking about someone going to kill him. He had such a bark on him that over the years he got to comtiable. It was Dellacroce who served as the buffer between members in the Gambino crime family, and forgot that Dellacroce died.

What GV said.

Broadly: All Mob Dons think they're omnipotent, and that no one would dare whack them. They're also surrounded by ass-kissers who pledge undying loyalty to them. Never occurs to them that treachery is how the Mob operates, and that their own treachery helped put them on top.

What was Anastasia's deal? Costello was almost killed, Moretti was killed, he was beefing with Trafficanti, and he definitely knew how Genovese operated. Is that where they got the ending to the Sopranos? He thought everything was fine and POP!? The description of the first few shots seemed as if he didn't get up he'd have survived.

Paul should've killed Gotti. What happened to they get your best friends to do it. He (Gotti) broke the rules.

Galante should've listened to Costello about bodyguards bring the first to turn on you instead of blowing up his grave.

Bruno didn't see it coming. What was he supposed to do? Argue with New York?

It was really a perfect storm for Gotti. Paul killed DeMeo and Gaggi was in jail at the time so two of the strongest allies of Paul and their crews really could not retaliate. With Galante, idk how he couldn’t just pay his way into everyone’s good graces with all the money he was making from drugs among other rackets. That was his demise, he was moving drugs and did not care who knew it. Threw it right in Gambino and every other bosses’ face. Surprised he didn’t try to take out the whole commission like Bonanno tried to.
