Decade old connections - 08/23/19 03:04 PM

Just wondering, off the top of my head the Columbo's seem to be the family (in NYC) with the deepest and longest blood relations within family members still active. I thought it would kinda interesting to compile a list of current family members (any family in or out of NYC) and who they're blood related to furthest back in time. Just an example would be Mush Russo and his relationship to Carmine. Obviously this goes back to the 30's. Does his blood relation go further to any older members? If it does I'm not aware of it. Detroit probably has a few current members that go way back. Could be a fun thread.

Im pretty sure a current Detroit chart would resemble a 50's chart as far as last names go.

William "Black Bill" Tocco was the detroit mob boss from 1932 70 1936,married Rosalia Zerilli the sister of Joseph "The Old Man" Zerilli boss from 1936 to 1977.
Another Black Bill son (Jack Tocco) become boss from 1979 to 2014.
The current boss Jackie Giacalone was the son of Vito William "Billy Jack" Giacalone (April 16, 1923 – February 19, 2012) a longtime capo.

Can say that the Detroit mob is based on the Zerilli-Tocco-Giacalone families.

The Bonanno family.
Giuseppe Asaro, capo 1931 till 1964, son Andrew Asaro, soldier from 1956 till 1991.
Vincenzo Asaro brother to Giuseppe, soldier from 1930 till 1970, sons Girolamo Asaro soldier from 1953 till 2000. Joseph Asaro soldier from 1953 till 2009, son Vincent Asaro made 1977 to present, son Jeremy Asaro current made member.
Joseph Cammarano Sr, son Joseph Cammarano Jr
Giuseppe DiFilippi, member from 1930 till 1972, son John DiFilippi soldier from 1954 till 1988
Vito DeFilippo Transferred from Sicily in 1955 till 1989, Son Patrick DeFilippo member from 1970s.
John Faraci, made on the sneak in 1961 till 2011, son Vincent Faraci soldier current.
Giuseppe Grimaldi, soldier from 1930 till 1986, Son Vito Grimaldi, member from 1977 to present, son Joseph Grimaldi current member.

There are also a lot of family members that are never made but remain associates or those associates get a son in law that gets made, and you will find gaps in some family lineage such as a grandpa was made then he has three sons, but only one of them is made and that his kids are not made, but his nephew from one of his brothers becomes made. There are many examples.

The DeCavalcantes in New Jersey have always been a tight knit group with the members mostly being able to trace their roots to Ribera, Sicily. They have been kind of under the radar lately, so I don't really know, but I would assume the younger members and at least some of the associates probably still are descended from that part of Sicily, if not blood relatives of old members.

The Bonanno family info interesting, I figured Detroit to be filled with family blood and thru marriage. Which family members go back decades? The Decavalcantes I have my doubts about now. In the past yes, now, probably not.

I don't know. They seem to fly under the radar.
