Tommy Agro and Big Paul - 10/09/18 09:22 PM

Definetly a mobster who is not talked about enough. Guy was a damn lunatic lol. Obviously we know him more for his relationship with Joe Dogs and his involvement in Tommy Desimones murder. But what about his relationship with Paul Castellano. I have heard that he was close to Big Paul despite being only a solider and having a volcanic temper. He was under Joe Armone which explains it m. Anybody have more info on Tommy Agro and how he got along with Paul

In the Boss of Bosses book about the bug in Castellano's house, Big Paul had this to say about Agro:

"Tommy A., he's good people. Some guys get jammed up, they get afraid, they're worth shit, fuck 'em, forget about it. Tommy A., this guy we help out best we can. It ain't that bad."

He supported Agro (possibly with $50,000) going on the lam.

Yeah,I read that where Castellano was saying those things. If my memory is right he was speaking to Gallo and Armone and the discussion was if they need to kill Agro. They discussed if they should hit him or give him money to run.Bilotti as well was there.

I think he ended up getting caught in Canada and was released from prison because he had brain cancer and died not long after.

Boss of Bosses was a good book, but it sucks that the two feds who wrote it lied about things in the book...Even the FBI pretty much called them liars....Imagine how times they lied on the witness stand...

Pretty sad when the feds are as credible as a Sal Polisi !!

Agros voice on the joe dogs wiretap sounds like something off a movie. He doesn’t try to hide anything too just gets himself angrier as the call goes on if I remember rightly haha

What O'Brien and Kurins did wasn't honorable. O'Brien's and Kurins' actions don't really reflect negatively on the investigation into Castellano. The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

O'Brien and Kurins writing that book was extremely controversial and basically everyone in the bureau thought it would set a bad precedent in terms of agents looking to make money profiting off similar investigations and giving mobsters an inside look as to how Feds conduct their investigations.

Not sure what they lied about. AFAIK conversations were taken verbatim, some were just not entirely relevant to the investigation.

And Gravano wrote about Castellano's penile implant too. It's funny!

Re: Tommy Agro and Big Paul - 10/14/18 12:59 PM

Yeah Moe,personally,I think it was in bad taste to write the personal things on Castellano including the Penile implant. Now,one thing they are accused of lying about is their entry in the mansion. They describe this James Bond shit where they knock out guard dogs and they get in and out in the knick of time. When in reality the team gained entry posing as cable guys to fix Castellano's t.v sets and did it all under the watchful eye of Bilotti.I do not feel law enforcement is above lying. And back to the other Gravano did write about it as well but I don't think he was ever accused of having class or being dignified beforeBut I agree their actions don't reflect the way the investigations were handled

Yeah, the FBI isn't supposed to listen to personal conversations, and yet these two not only listened to every conversation, but went public with very personal stuff, if that's even true...Disgusting !!

Yeah, they made up the story about knocking out the dog etc...And then when they testify they expect people to say who do you believe, me, an FBI agent or this lying scum ??

Argo was more as a personal hitman for Big Paul than Roy DeMeo was. If I remember right didn't Argo fled to Canada with his girlfriend, not long after that he broke up with her for another woman up there, and his ex told the Mounties where to find Argo or am I thinking of a different New York mobster?
