Encounters With Crime Thread - 11/02/17 03:26 PM

The thread about encounters with wiseguys inspired me to start up this thread . It's purpose is to serve as the place to recount personal experiences with criminals and/or crime in general .

Anyways I grew up in a small central Nebraska town that ( for some reason ) had an above average amount of teenage/twenty something guys involved in criminal activity . They weren't gangsters , but it was common for these guys to work together on a ( more or less ) regular basis due to the fact that they grew up with and trusted each other .

One vivid memory that stands out about these guys was the time some of them robbed a coin and gem store in a nearby county . This was probably the biggest headline worthy crime they pulled off during the time I lived there and I happened to have witnessed one of their members dispose of evidence afterwards .

I happened to be walking along a dirt road near the edge of town , when I saw a truck pull up alongside a ditch and a guy get out . I instantly recognized the fellow as one of my classmates and he proceeded to throw some guns and a few masks into a manhole , after which he promptly drove off .

I already had a fascination for the edgy side of life back then , so I actually got down into the manhole and retrieved the guns and masks .

A few days later the news of the big robbery hit town and I deduced that the fellow must have been part of the group that pulled it off . I got spooked after that and got rid of the guns and the masks and I doubt they have been found since .

My fascination with crime only got strong after that though and I credit that incident with causing me to start researching the world of serious crime .

I think you should be a little careful with your admission to tampering with evidence. Just saying...

I was held up at gunpoint twice on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, in two separate incidents. Robbed.

Smashed with a lead pipe near Jamaica high school in Queens. Robbed.

After the Yusef Hawkins murder in Bensonhurst, I was forced to say the pledge of allegiance in the middle of Horace Harding Expressway, stopping traffic and nearly getting hit by a bus. I was 14.

I encountered a man exposing himself to three women on the number 7 subway. I physically removed him on to the platform at 103rd street, Corona Plaza. When he charged back at me with a knife, the doors closed just in time, or I wouldn't be here.

In Anchorage, AK, I observed a woman foot stomping a drunk man's head until he was bloody and unconscious. I called the police twice and they never showed up. They were "responding to other calls", according to the 911 operator. Some tourists carried him to a walk-in clinic.

Witnessed a homeless man get tazed by a Department of Homeless Services officer in Brooklyn. The cop was black and the homeless man was white (and harmless). Please don't tell the NFL players.

Bookmaking by almost every bartender in Bayside/Flushing.

What a wonderful melting pot, eh?

"Bookmaking by almost every bartender in Bayside/Flushing."

Hey, Joe Colombo died so that these bartenders could take bets without being persecuted by the government.

New York has a bad reputation but I feel perfectly safe walking around there at night time; strong NYPD presence helps.

Good luck finding a policeman in Dublin. They're nowhere. Junkies are everywhere on the main thoroughfare in the city. It's an embarrassment.

Then you have guys who have over 200 convictions freely running amok all over the city, and when they go back to court the judge sends them away with a slap on the wrist to repeat the same process all over again.

English cities can be pretty edgy, too, at night. My brother was robbed for his phone in London by a couple of black kids (just saying). They gave it back to him because it was a shitty phone.

Acid attacks are on the rise in London. That shit creeps me out. Are there many/any acid attacks in America?

I have to say I would rather be shot, stabbed and attacked with acid in that order.

Throwing acid at somebody is a death penalty offense in my opinion; irredeemable..

Stats on acid attacks. It used to be assumed it was a Asian (Pakistani/Bangladeshi Asian) thing but the figures don’t really back this up.

You're actually completely right lol . I don't want to get anyone in trouble by incriminating themselves by the way , so I apologize if my post came off as a bit out of line .

Anyways thanks for the replies everyone .
