He got sons in the life. Obviously he is not gonna rat and put them in danger or ruin their criminal careers. His friends in the mob probably look after the sons too.

Didnt massino testify there was a plot with the westside boss i think barney to remove vinny. I thinm massino said they asked him if he wanted the genivese family to take vinny out and massino said no.

This plot was in the federal lock up but who knows massino failed a few lie detector tests.

He also said barney told him sal vitale and john gotti sr plannd to whack him when he got out of prison in the early 90tys.

They're respected on the street by people that count. Why they have that respect would usually be because they did a little more than dealing smoke. But who knows. If they're into anything, they don't want it to be known because they are trying to stay off the radar aside from hitting the clubs and eating at the best spots. I mean they aren't throwing money around in VIP's but they are def living their lives. They're young guys so that's nothing that you or I don't or wouldn't do. Lol JCrusher I lose faith in humanity time ago,anyway I'm just joking, Basciano is a criminal and get what he deserved but at 50 years get life and be loocked up 23 h a day in a small cell in a supermax prison without rat or try to kill you (more in Florence supermax tried suicide) isnt for everyone. I means that for me I would flip,no way but more important the fact that your life is finished with 2 life sentences, Basciano will be out only in a body bag.

Don't you think it's different if the people that are killed are part of the same subculture and know what can happen if you break the rules? I mean it's not like they are serial killers who kill innocent people randomly, apart from a small percentage of guys like Tommy Karate maybe was. One of the guys Vinny killed was planning to hurt his sons so that is a valid reason in my book. I'm not trying to excuse all his acts and/or put him on a pedestal, but to me it's not all that black and white.

All his children grew up to be low life criminals and his wife was left destitute IIRC. He also planned the murder of a prosecutor.

The thing is he clearly had the tools to make a legitimate life for himself and his children, owning several businesses.

He chose to go another way and he is where he belongs.

Something has to be done with the laws, I think they don't overturn to many convictions because of pride

Basciano is doing his time like a real man. He choose a certain way of life, shit didn't work out and he is dealing with it. Like a fucking marine.
