How many captains are in the Lucchese family?

How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/20/16 06:04 PM

Okay those latest charts are really baffling to me. According to that guy Pogo, the Lucchese family currently has eight captains and the Bonannos have seventeen. Eight seems really low, especially since the Luccheses are thought to be bigger and more powerful than the Bonannos.

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/20/16 06:53 PM

My guess would be 10. Think in little Al's book the chart of the family when amuso was on the street was 8. I bet crea doesn't even want to talk to half his capos. Now creas boss and not on parole but he has a street boss. What happend to underboss and consig doing all the work. Thing with chin he did have Ben eggs doing a lot of his work. Read yesterday barney is official boss but has a street boss I wonder who his 2 n 3 are. If he even wants them. But they got to stick to trqditions cause its the reason these guys believe and still want a button.

The Luchese are an enigma right now, we can only guess what's going on with them.

Do we know who Crea's street boss is? They say Lubrano was released recently. He may be running the Bronx for him.

The santorelli's run crea's old crew , the lucchese family have historically had around 10 capos

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/20/16 08:10 PM

The Luccheses have always been at around 10-12 capos (approx. 100-130 made men), while the Bonannos often hovered around 14 to 18 capos (140-180 made members).

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/20/16 11:46 PM

@Pmac
Allegedly Peter "Petey Red" DiChiari is the current Genovese street boss. Went away for 5 years on gambling and extortion charges after being caught on tape by D'Urso back in 2001.

Was also indicted for a bribery scheme in which the Genovese family coordinated with Gambino and Bonnano family members to extort union local bosses.

Yes I seen that about Pete red. Also remember from his old case with durso the guy was a real gangster. Like he robs bank and shit. Must be nice for him to go from selling stolen fireworks and shit to street boss of the biggest and richest family in USA. The little taste from all the envelopes must be nice. Barney probably been rich forever this guy earned that street position. Its also like the 5 the time I've read about that social club in les. Probably has Bugs all over the place.

Is it possible that the Luccheses are overrated and the third most powerful family is actually the Bonannos? They just don't seem to have the numbers. I know the numbers aren't everything, but they're still pretty important.

Ralphie_cifaretto if I dont be wrong a Ivy tell me that consider the Luccheses the third fam is wrong but you may think that there are 2 big fams genovese and gambino and 3 little lucchese, bonanno and colombo.
Second thing the Lucchese crew are always be big than 10 made men for example the Vario crew had 14 made men and 40 associates. So 8 capo dont necessary means 80 made men but at least 100-120 made men.

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/21/16 07:24 AM

There is likely some overlap with those Bonanno captains. A lot of new names were revealed with that recent meeting that made the news and led to a few being busted for parole violation.

In other words, there probably aren't 17 captains in the Bonanno family and there certainly aren't 140-180 members if you go by the most recent estimates. More like 100-125.

The Luccheses, Colombos, and Bonannos are all roughly the same size. And even though some on the forums seem to build up the Luccheses a lot, they're much closer to the other two smaller families than the Genovese or Gambinos.

There is no way the Bonannos are bigger or have more man power then the Lucchese family.

What I wanna know is the approximate size of the Lucchese's Jersey crew? It's one of if not the biggest crews in the family, correct? Hopefully someone like Ivy can help me out there and if so any idea as to how many made guys are in the NJ crew and who runs it?

Also another curious thing, does the Bonannos have a Jersey crew as well? If so how big and who runs it?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me in answering my questions.

capeci disagrees ...

the luchese family might be the most stable and the leadership might be doing well does not mean the family is big

Quote:

Hundreds of inducted members in the five families are still behind these enterprises. The Genovese lead with close to 200 such "made" men, while the Colombos and Lucheses are the smallest, with about 100 each, said Jerry Capeci, a longtime crime reporter who operates the website Gang Land News. The numbers are less than years ago but not substantially so, he said. There are also several thousand additional criminal associates, Mr. Denesopolis said.

The lucchese family was historically the smallest family but the third most powerful

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/21/16 02:13 PM

Historically was the colombo the most small est due to the continue war where the Lucchese was the most stable apart the Amuso/Casso regime.

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/21/16 04:25 PM

There has been a lot of misinformation and misunderstandings about the New York Families over the years.

The Gambino's have usually been the largest, if not the most powerful, due to being the oldest established.

The Genovese's usually the strongest, due to leadership, wide ranging enterprises and close ties with the Chicago Outfit.

The Bonnano's, I believe, were originally the 3rd largest and 3rd most powerful from the 30's until the 60's.

The Lucchese's have always been 4th in size and usually 3rd or 4th powerwise, mostly due to their leadership and close historical ties with the Genovese.

The Colombo's have pretty much always been the smallest, least widespread and smallest, due to being the last formed of the New York mobs.
Posted By: SonnyD

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/21/16 04:30 PM

Today of course it's pretty much the Genovese's and the Gambino's, then the other 3 as far as size and power goes.

The Lucchese's take 3rd place powerwise due to leadership and Genovese ties, as per usual. Sizewise, as Ivy said, not much to chose between the last 3.

Re: How many captains are in the Lucchese family? - 05/21/16 07:14 PM

While the Genovese has always been the top family, with the Gambinos a close #2, the three smaller families have fluctuated in position over the years. However their relative sizes haven't been much different over at least the past few decades. One could argue that the Luccheses are #3 but that's a big drop between #2 and #3.

Last I read Joseph "Sammy" Sammartino was running the Bonanno operations in Jersey but Louis Civello may have taken over recently.

I don't know how big the Lucchese Jersey crew is but I think at least 8 members were busted in Operation Heat.

Would it be fair to say that the the Bonannos have more members, but Luccheses have more higher quality members than the Bonannos?

If the Bonannos have more more members, it's a negligible amount. Like a difference of maybe 15 members at most if you average out the more recent estimates.

The Bonannos seem to be making guys every year. They make anybody and everybody over there. And the way that they do it, it's all fucked up. Guys don't get their finger pricked. There's no sword and gun on the table...

Don't think the luchese family or any other is gonna keep oking the bonanno family to make a bunch of guys if there family isn't to. Otherwise the whole veting thing is a waste of time. I have seen in the daily news something like they made 18 guys in the last few years if not more. I doubt the westside or luchese or gambinos say yes unless there stocking themselves to.

That Luchesse nj book is huge and goes back decades and only seems to grow. Takes a lot of people to work it, some real big stuff , probably more north while ws east

Luchesse just have much better rackets and relationships and it's hard to imagine that changing anytime soon

Bonanno have big SI blue collar that also flows thru workers into Manhatten, I can imagine it's big .A lot of those SI youngins want into that life so I'm sure they could add a lot of younger guys anytime they want to

The Lucchese's were making people in toilets during the 90's.

"May your soul burn like this toilet paper if you betray your friends."

Moe, a bonanno capo accepted 50,000 $ from joey the mook d'amico's mother for made her son.
You're talking about Bald Mikey Spinelli (do you know that his surnames translte in english is spliffs ?) that for sure was the more patetic making ceremony but was made by Casso and capo “Bowat” Baratta,so is technicly correct also more mobster at the beginning doesn't respect him.
But he don't flip like D'amico and if in the 2027 when will be on the streets can say that he is a real stand up guy.
