He's the boss of the DeCavalcantes. Not exactly the host of the Tonight Show.

Damn that is crazy.. Wasn't even old and heard he was real old school no bullshit.. Family was already a mess.. Without him at the top I really don't know who's going to step up.. The west side and luch's jersey crews are really gonna take over everything in nj now

Yeah Ralphie_cifaretto but the decavalcante are the soprano inspiration so after that Riggi dead and short after at 61 y also die Guarraci for me look strange. In the obituary isnt said how is dead ? Illnesses for sure or a bullett so the gambinos and Luccheses can that control of the family ?

I'm from an area of Jersey that has a major DeCavalcante presence, the other day I was hearing possibly Majuri but couldn't confirm it.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 04/25/16 11:42 AM

They have a big group of young guy Jersey guys who want to be gangsters because they watched the Sopranos selling Coke and bookmaking, most of them associates. Look at the recent bust last year of the Toms River area crew, mostly guys in their 20s and 30s...

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 04/25/16 11:50 AM

Don't forget that Joseph Miranda is still around and at the age of 91 was helping Francesco "Milk" Guarraci run the family....

who is the underboss?
Posted By: gangstereport

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 04/25/16 05:33 PM

plenty of young guys around the deacvs they dont have to worry about finding young guys

we have no idea who will take over we dont really know the hierarchy we know Frank Guarraci was the boss and from the Stagno indictment Frank Nigro was the consgliere. There is little news reported on this family they have fallen under the shadow of New York. For all we know Majuri has been inactive for years.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 04/25/16 06:06 PM

If I had to guess I would say big ears is the boss or is gonna be , sure I read somewhere last year that Charlie Majuri saying he'd kill Riggi if he doesn't step down after his release could tell us something about the rumors a year ago about Majuri supposedly taking the top spot

I might be wrong here, but I think I remember reading an article a while back that said the Decavalcantes were supplying drugs to college campuses in NJ- Rutgers, Seton Hall etc.

Is that still going on or did it not happen in the first place?

Scott's article on situation and a correction (Scott: it's Jimmy Gumps Palermo and he's been dead for a few years now)

Here's Jimmy Gumps obituary:

http://m.legacy.com/obituaries/app/obitu...p;preview=false

He was based out of the Ortley Beach section of Toms River, I won't mention the restaurant because his children run it now and they're not involved in the life and they're amazing people that I personally know....

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 04/27/16 01:19 PM

So Riggi had 90,Guarraci 61 and majuri 76. So in decavalcante the young men had if lucky 50-60 y ?
Posted By: Neo

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 04/27/16 08:17 PM

Majuri is in bad health, Nigro is in prison and Miranda is too old to head the DeCavalcantes.

I wonder who else there is for the top seat in that family?
Posted By: gangstereport

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 04/27/16 09:42 PM

some of you seem to believe with frank dead and majuri old that the family is dying come on these are two guys for all we know majuri has been inactive for years and guarraci had cancer guys on the street must have known that there is probably already a new boss on the scene hell we dont even know who the underboss is

We know nothing and i mean nothing about this family no one reports on them no one is really interested. Especially as they have got smaller less interested from press and FBI philly mob gets alot of attention as does the five familys but these guys are sort of in between. We dont know most of the capos all we know is charles stagno and louie consalvo and the rumour that joey merlo is involved thats it.

I will not be surprised if the next boss is someone we have not heard of before my point is lets not say the family has no one to step up when we have no idea who has power in that family i hope capeci talks about this in gangland tomorrow

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/02/16 04:55 PM

The entire family is the laughing stock of organized crime... They are all too old or too broke to matter.. It is said that Ray Tango branded Charlie Stango a rat and then not only does he get made but becomes a capo... Really?? Was is Ray doing life and Stango did a handful of years. It's said Maguri is and has been the boss.... But the boss of what??? I've heard they have more shelved guys than active

where did you hear that? last indicment showed alot of young guys. Feds said they have around 30-40 made guys still on the street. In 2005 12 guys got there button according to the feds.

Last few big mob busts some decavs have been arrested like the 2011 mafia bust and gurraci got indicted in 2010

how do you know if they are laughing stock? how do you know if they are all shelved? how do you if they are all old? how do you know how wealthy the mob is? you dont know your just making that up. Unless you know these guys which I highly doubt you do and you have no source to back anything you just said

Agreed. It's not like any family sends out a newsletter or anything saying how many members they have, etc, so everything is a secret until there's an informant or someone gets caught talking on a wire. Everything is speculation 'til then.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/02/16 08:51 PM

Agree with gangsterreport and Fleming ave. The newspaper said that the decavalcante was dead after vinnie ocean flip, some said that are a Gambino puppet because a guy (stagno I think) said were under the fucking gambinos.
At the end much of the decavalcante bad fame it due that was the only home growed mafia family in jersey but must fight against the a crews from ny and philly.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/03/16 02:16 AM

Admittedly what I know is second hand information. But the Decavalcantes have roots in the Union County area from when they got off the boat in Sicily in the 19th century. They traditionally had influence, if not actually owned outright a lot of businesses in that area. I would think they're pretty entrenched there, I don't know how another family could just push them aside, like in the movies or something.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/03/16 02:46 AM

speaking of vinny ocean, what ever happened with him in Texas?

His identity came out over strip club ties and for scamming someone out of money? Feds probably protected him

He seemed to be doing pretty well for himself over there in Texas. Must have made the decavs furious when that came out

They have a very heavy presence at the shore in the Toms River area as well.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/03/16 04:35 PM

They're in Elizabeth, Newark and its surrounding area, and the Jersey Shore counties of Monmouth and Ocean with many members in the Toms River area. The bust last year in March of the Stagno crew, they operated out of the shore in the Toms River area.

Yes, all of those areas are largely Italian. Besides those idiots in the Stagno crew, the vast majority of DeCavalcantes are typically Italian born from Sicily, Ribera in particular . Most of them were actually born in Italy and speak Italian fluently, even the younger made guys in their 40s and 50s. Due to them being mostly Italian born, they are very low key and not flashy. The vast majority of them go to General Contractor jobs or work a restaurant that are real jobs. You will never hear much about them in newspapers.

Everytime I see someone who is with DeCavalcantes (again with those morons in Stagno crew as the exception) they are always doing walk and talks, speaking in Italian with a heavy Sicilian dialect.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/03/16 04:44 PM

They used to have a real presence in all the industrial plants around the Linden area, (One town over from Elizabeth) selling numbers and taking bets. That's more what I am referring to. Now I know a lot of those places have closed down, but not nearly all of them. That's kind of what I was referring to, I can't believe they've been eradicated from that area after doing business there for over 100 years.

When I said Elizabeth, I meant the area and all those industrial towns that surround it.

I understand, you didn't say anything wrong. I was just trying to clarify what I said, that I meant they had infiltrated legit industries in that area back in the old days, and I would be surprised if they had been eradicated.

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/03/16 10:15 PM

Is there any real industry left in that area?
Posted By: DanteMoltisanti

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/03/16 10:32 PM

Yes! You ever notice all those gigantic oil refineries on the turnpike South of Newark airport, that's Elizabeth/Linden. Elizabeth has a port too, still heavy industrial area in the year 2016!!

Re: DeCavalcante Boss Guarraci Dead - 05/03/16 10:33 PM

Honestly I rarely stray below Newark when I'm in the area, Dante.

Low key guys like that must have a way better chance of staying under the radar. Maybe that's why we don't hear about them as much as the Gambinos and the other NY families.
