How does their pay work? Do they get a salary or do they have their own schemes going on and they kick up like the system in lcn?

It's a mixture of both, some cartels soldiers run kidnapping per ransom rings some don't. Depends on the captain if he or she allows it but they do get paid a salary per week usually. It ranges from $300 per week or more, I've seen some get paid $800 or $1,000 per week. If they do run kidnapping rings they can get a lot of money but the cartels typical shy away from kidnaping for ransom and they usually demonize rivals that they are kidnappers or extortionists to gain support and have a crusade against their rivals. I've also seen sicarios deal drugs on the side but typically the drug sales, extortion rackets, oil theft, human trafficking etc. is kicked up to the captains, plaza boss, regional bosses and leader(s).
