New Video - Lucky Luciano & the Havana Conference - 01/15/16 11:21 AM

The Havana Conference of 1946 was a historic meeting of United States organized crime leaders. Arranged by Charles "Lucky" Luciano, the conference was held to discuss important mob policies, rules, and business interests.

The conference was held during the week of December 22, 1946 at the Hotel Nacional. This meeting is considered to have been the most important mob summit since the Atlantic City Conference of 1929. Decisions made in Havana resonated throughout the US crime families for the ensuing decades.

At :50 sec.s in, you can see Luciano's personal mannerisms. He is always said to be so American. He doesn't look it there.

The video footage of Anslinger is novel. That was riveting.

Ben Siegel's photo at 7:01 min.s in is clearly sinister. You wonder how someone like that could move through a place like Beverly Hills and not appear to any and everyone who saw him as a manifest killer in plain sight.

Vitone Genovese was handled the right way. Brute uncontrollable demon that he was, the best that could be done was to imprison him.

Very nice video. Thanks Marshall.

So who at the conference talked about it afterwards?

Interesting video. Is it true that Luciano beat Genovese up or is it a myth?

Kills me how events that later happened are used to put together what happened at this meeting. I know of no first or second hand account of it.

The attending Commission members

Joseph "Joe Bananas" Bonanno
Frank Costello
Giuseppe Profaci
Anthony "Joe Batters" Accardo
Stefano Magaddino

Why wasn't Commission member Vincent Mangano there instead of or with underboss Albert Anastasia? Mangano was killed 5 years later was there already a feud between them?

And the fifth family Tommy Gagliano and Tommy Lucchese why weren't they invited or were they?
